Theresa's Mixed Nuts: Michigan's Adventure

Michigan's Adventure

We try to get to the amusement parks around here each summer. We have 4 of them within driving distance of our house, but this year we decided to pass on the bigger parks because Allison just won't grow! She is a thrill seeker, but she is 2 inches too short to ride the big rides at those parks and always leaves disappointed. We opted to go to Michigan's Adventure on Wednesday because we knew she would be able to ride every ride there this year.

And it's cheap too! For $30 you get to go to both the amusement park and the water park. It was a tad chilly to be swimming that day, so we only spent about 2 hours on the water park side. Fortunately there was plenty to do on the other side of the park, and thankfully the lines were relatively short so we got to ride the coasters more than once. Of course they have the standard fair type rides to enjoy as well.

The park has a "Peanuts" theme, which we are huge fans of. So, the highlight for me is getting to meet Snoopy and the Gang. Usually it's just Snoopy and Charlie Brown out for photo ops, but if you are lucky, sometimes Lucy will come out too. We didn't catch her this time though :(

It was a very fun, yet very exhausting day!

What is your favorite amusement park?

  1. Awww, I love Charlie Brown!

I have the same issue with my little man. He is a peanut and just refuses to grow. He's going to be 6 next month and could easily pass for 3 - no lie. The first couple of years he wasn't able to go on a bunch of the rides he wanted to at Disney World (Soarin' and Star Tours, but the past 2 times he went, he JUST made it. I swear he'll never make the 48" to do the Rockin Rollercoaster LOL.

  2. Snoopy looks just as happy as the girls

  3. Cedar Point is my fave (same co. owns them both I think) because I grew up there, literally, and because they have those huge coasters! :)

We did MI Adventure this year though, for the first time, and I liked it. I loved the short lines!!

I'm glad you all had a good time. Your girls look really happy. I love Snoopy!

    1. Yes, those short lines are great! We didn't feel the need to spring for a fast pass there because we could handle a 15 minute wait lol.

    2. Ugh, what is the new trend w/fast past costs? Does Disney still do it for free?? I think that's way better of a set up...come back at such and such time to ride, no need to pay to get through the line.

CP charges for a fast pass too (fairly new). Though tempting to not have to wait, the thought of paying was a tad ridiculous to me, so we didn't. ;)

  7. Oh, great thrifty shopping, girlfriend! I love hearing about people getting great deals. Now your school shopping is about done? That is wonderful. When I read this comment, I was smiling and my HM asked why and I told him. He was happy, too, for you!!!

  9. My Daughter was like that.... didn't grow and didn't grow.... then all of a sudden.... Big enough to ride all the rides. Great pics!

  10. Cute. Pass a hug on to Allison for me. I'm similar but different. I was usually too short to ride the scary rides and, often, very grateful for this! I'm a chicken. Now, I wish I didn't barely make the cut-off, so I still had that as an excuse. Oh, well. Maybe, try feeding her chocolate(?) It's more fun than broccoli, and I think she'd appreciate the advice. It worked for me. Smiles.

    Happy weekend, Theresa.

  11. Looks so fun!! I love amusement parks. I would also love to have my picture taken with Charlie Brown...hehe. Sounds like there's lots to do there! Our favourite amusement park is Canada's Wonderland in Toronto. SO much to do there and we'll be heading there soon actually, probably in August. If you ever come to Canada, you'll have to check it out :)

    1. I can't believe I used it either! July is always a scorcher here, but we are experiencing some unseasonably cool weather these past few weeks. Definitely not fun!

    1. Michigan as in Michigan lol. Actually, I am from Indiana and it takes me just as long to get to Michigan's Adventure as it does for me to get to Chicago. Chicago is our favorite city to visit!

  20. My favorite place in Disneyland in California. We have been there many times since 1990 when my daughters were old enough to 'get it'. Yet, I 'created a monster' in my oldest. She is now a Disneyland-a-colic. She has in her adulthood bought 6-7 annual passes. We live in Utah 800 miles away. They went. Her husband's parents' live in Cypress which is the next town to Anaheim, so they stay there. She convinced me to buy one once so yes, I did go to Disneyland 3 time is one year, that year. My HM has a niece in Orange county we stay with. A bit of over-kill (the travel time). Anyway, yes DISNEYLAND, definitely. We always have a great time there, guaranteed.

I'm very surprised at the many replying that Fireworks are illegal in their states. UTAH is moronic for selling them here. We have such dry conditions here (a natural desert) and the fire threat always has to be strongly enforced, yet they are legal here. Illegal ones are in Wyoming and many go over the border and then bring them here. But the legal ones are mighty dangerous enough. Oh well. We had a fun time, yet one did tip over and fire right at two of my granddaughters and hot ash was every where PLUS it shot out the back side and set a small fire across the street in the dead dry grass on the side of his driveway. My quick thinking son in law dump a handy bucket full of water on it and we dowsed it with the garden hose, too. Ya, great fun (smirk).

    Wow, longest comment ever. LOL

    1. Hahaha Renae! I always love your comments, short or long ;)If we lived close to Disney, I would totally buy season passes! We haven't been to Disney CA yet. We were planning a trip there next fall, but we just found out they are building on to the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios, so we will probably head back to the one in FL so we can make a pit stop at Universal.

Some of the big fireworks are illegal here too, but that never stops them from crossing the state line to buy them and bring them back here. They certainly are pretty, but we don't waste our money on them. We'll enjoy everybody else's though!

  24. That's looks really cool! When I was a kid we had one small amusement park nearby. I don't recall getting to ride much there except the ferris wheel. But I do remember one time the little train went by and I ran and jumped onto the last car. My mom chased me and the train and I got a big spanking for scaring the daylights out of her. But it was fun.
