We went to The Bean:
Then we had lunch. We normally only get the deep dish pizza from Giordano's while we are in town, but opted for some Chicago Dogs for a change.
Mariah was the oddball, getting a chicken sandwich. Booo! |
Jason thought it would be such a fabulous idea to have my picture taken next to a "Nuts" sign. "You need that because of your blog." What a dork!
We ended the day by taking in a Cirque Shanghai Dragon's Thunder show. Absolutely amazing show! The acrobatics were phenomenal! I would highly recommend this show to anyone who will be in the area. It lasted about an hour, which was very reasonable for how inexpensive the tickets were (about $20 for adults and $15 for kids).
We also stopped into the Sears (Willis) Tower, which has 108 floors. Things sure have changed since I last went. Not only will you have to pass through security, the prices were literally sky high! It cost us about $75 for the 4 of us to go up, and it was an hour and a half wait. If you have the city pass, it's only 30 minutes to wait. The views from the top are spectacular though! I'll share those pics tomorrow :)
If you have been to Chicago, what's your favorite tourist spot there?
that is a huge Ferris wheel. I actually rode my first one today coincidentally.
ReplyDeletelook up Singapore Flyer, it's the biggest one in the world. Makes that one look like a miniature model.
OMG Adam! I just looked that up and it is huge! Just looking at it makes me queasy!
DeleteChicago is such a fun city! glad you went to the Bean and other fun spots!!
ReplyDeleteIt is my favorite! So much to do and see there! Thanks for stopping by today :)
DeleteYou are all as cute as can be. Glad you had fun in Chicago. I've never been and would like to go.
ReplyDeletexoRobyn
You should go. They have really good chocolate :)
DeleteVery fun day in Chicago, pretty great sculpture! Nice photos!
ReplyDeleteThanks Leovi :) I am amazed at the amount of people that were crowding around the bean sculpture!
DeleteWhat a fun day. Seeing Chicago is definitely on my bucket list. The Empire State Building in NYC is the same as the Sears Tower. It costs a small fortune to go up to the observation deck and then it's crowded and you're only up there for a few minutes. After waiting ages to get on the elevator to get up in the first place.
ReplyDeleteI will certainly keep that in mind when we visit NYC. Skip the Empire State Building. The wait was as ridiculous as the prices!
DeleteThat's my favorite city, so really just being there doing anything makes me happy! I do love visiting all the museums and Shedd though!
ReplyDeleteYes! The Shedd is so fun! However, I would not recommend going on free day. The lines are unbearable and they don't open the entire aquarium!
DeleteOh my goodness I'm fearful of heights so there is NO WAY I would get on that ferris wheel LOL.
ReplyDeleteMe too Keith! I didn't get on it this time (but have in the past). You are going to LOVE my Skydeck pics tomorrow ;)
DeleteLooks like a fun filled day indeed and he was so right, you needed the nuts sign lol
ReplyDeleteEvery time he sees something with nuts on it, he insists on a picture. It's getting old lol.
Deletelooks like you had a nom nom lunch there :) And you look lovely in that white blouse.
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Dezi! I was super tired by that point and think it was showing pretty heavily in my face. I did NOT want my photo taken then lol.
DeleteThe Beaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan! I love The Bean. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome pic of your little one holding it up, lol.
Chicago's one of my favorite cities (if it's not winter). I like too many things to list, and still want to see more. Glad you had a fun time (Navy Pier rocks).
I agree! Chicago and winter are NOT fun! But then again, neither are MI and IN lol ;)
DeleteWhew, you ain't a kiddin' I'm loving the weather we have right now. Too bad this isn't a year 'round thing. :)
DeleteI love that picture of Allison holding up the bean! So fun!
ReplyDeleteShe was getting tired of me saying hands up, hands down. That was her "Get it over with face" lol.
DeleteI've never been to Chicago, it looks like a lot of fun!! Great pics. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Camille :)
DeleteI have only been there on work...you look like you had a great time!

I grew up in Chicago and we are in NW Indiana and still try to get into the city sometimes. I took the kids to the Hancock Observatory a couple of weeks ago and want to do the Museum in the fall.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures Theresa. You all had a whale of a time.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time! I've always wanted to visit Chicago :) And love the big bean! haha!! I agree with Jason though, you HAVE to pose with the "nuts" ;) You guys have been super busy this summer with activities!! What great memories for the girls :)
ReplyDeleteReading this is like a dejavu for me..I forgot which one was it, was it at Rosey's or Robin's the post about Chicago? Though I have never been to Chicago I know this place especially from Giuliana and Bill episodes ha ha...and definitely I will never forget the bean!
ReplyDeleteLooks like your family had a good time. It's been forever since I've been to Chicago but my kids have been on a few trips there within the last few years. I always enjoy listening to them talk about their adventures and the things they do while there.
