Theresa's Mixed Nuts: Getting Muddy at Warren Dunes!

Getting Muddy at Warren Dunes!

We decided to skip a family cookout on Labor Day, and opted for the brilliant idea of going to the beach. Apparently 5 million other people had that idea too. When we got to our favorite beach they turned us away because they were out of parking spaces. My husband didn't drive almost an hour to be turned away and was determined he was spending his day at a beach. We ended up going down the road a few more miles and landed on Warren Dunes in Michigan. The line to get in was super long, and I though they would make us leave too, but once we made it through the gate we were home free baby! We've never been to this beach before, and I'm kind of glad we had the opportunity.

As we sat there, I kept seeing people walk by covered in mud. Kids were running around with big balls of clay mud, and since I hate being out of the loop, grabbed Mariah and told her we were going to find the source of it.

We ventured off the beach, walking through a little stream into the woods.

Getting there was a bit of a challenge. There were a few obstacles to get around.

But we hit the jackpot within a few minutes of walking time. Remember those obstacles? You need to watch out for the roots in the water too. Mariah tripped over one and fell in, getting soaking wet. Being the great mother I am, I laughed and laughed at her. Karma didn't like that because I tripped and fell in on the way back :)

Of course, the best part of digging all that clay mud up is putting it on! I even brought a stash home to use for myself. What could be a better beauty treatment then clay mud straight from the earth?

How did you spend your Labor Day weekend?

    1. Back where all the clay mud was, there was a house right in the middle of those woods. Kinda felt bad for the people who live there having strangers digging around that close to their back yard. Then again, it would be cool to have a stream right in your back yard!

  7. I haven't been Muddin in quite some time. I did have some clay that I used to put in my bath because it helped pull toxins out of my body... but I was afraid it would clog my drains. You found a better mud source than out of a box.

    1. Definitely better than a box. No additives, just pure mud!

  10. Okay, I find this whole thing very hilarious. #1. Where do you have a beach near Ohio? Ocean beach or lake beach? Huh? #2. I am so glad you fell in too! Hahahahaha. #3. I would not have my camera near that water OR mud. How did you take those photos? My goodness gracious.

Ya, that dress has that strange seam but trust me, it isn't the first dress I have had like that. But, when I tried in on, my ydd was with me and I declared, "I'm a little school girl!" Crazy huh? Trust me I started with the less appealing item from that sale to be the first item posted about. We only go uphill from there. Eeeek, bomber jacket for $5 will be the Finale!!!!! (you saw on IG?)

  13. Now you know where to go and get your "spa treatments" for free heehee

  14. I loved that statement about how you laughed and laughed. I would have done the same thing to my daughter. Having natural mud can be quite an advantage--spa treatments and mud fights too. :)

  15. Now that is a lot of mud. Reminds me of a farm I visited on Saskatchewan where I had to walk in knee deep mud. Too funny!

  19. Finding new places is the best! We actually opted to avoid the Labor Day crowds this year and stayed home to rest from everything else we'd done this summer.

  20. When I was a teen this would have been fun, but I would not be walking around in unfamiliar water and most certainly would not be happy if I feel in and got muddy. Guess I'm official old now :)
