We took a ton of photos, so I am going to share this visit in 2 posts. Make sure you come back tomorrow for the rest!
Upon arrival, you can take your photo in a mini porch display with a leg lamp.
Yes, my husband is overjoyed feeling up that leg...
Moving down, there were 6 window displays in all set up, each showing a different scene from the movie.
The first one shows the department store window where the kids all admired the holiday toys...
and Ralphie's Red Ryder BB Gun!
Next up was the school house...
with the ever famous scene involving one tongue frozen to a flagpole.
Who cares what the neighbors think? That leg lamp is Fab-U-Lous! or is that Fra-Gil-Ey? Who knows? I never did study Italian.
Add in the scene with some super grumpy elves, and a Santa who's lap I wouldn't want to sit on...
which Allison was quick to point out it wasn't the elf that kicked the kids down the slide. Still pretty cool though.
At each display they also had the video of each clip from the scenes playing, just in case you couldn't remember what that particular spot was about:
This one was showing the dog/turkey stealing scene.
The dogs were electronic, so it looked like they were really tearing into the turkey. |
And the last display was of Ralphie dreaming of saving the day with his trusted Red Ryder BB Gun!
I was really impressed with the amount of detail they put into each display. And the whole event was free to the public!
What is your favorite scene from A Christmas Story?
Looks like you guys had fun! I am not sure which scene was my favorite, but the displays are sure clever, confused me now. LoL
ReplyDeleteI can't even begin to express my jealousy over this. It's so bad that I want to plan a vacation out there next year just to see this. It IS the best movie of all time.
ReplyDeleteLooking stunning as always in that first pic! And that place looks creepy and interesting at the same time
ReplyDeletecool window displays, it is a christmas classic
ReplyDeleteThey sure have everything nailed as far as the movie goes, amazing detail
ReplyDeleteI would love that! I like the scene where Ralphie kicks that punks butt! I also think the bunny suit is so funny!
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen the show!! I keep hearing about it though, and I'm more than mildly curious. :)
ReplyDeleteWe live in such a small bohunk town that nothing like that happens here. I don't even think most of the stores put a window display up any longer.
ReplyDeleteOh Theresa, I have a ton of favorites from this hilarious movie but I think the best one is when the host at the chinese restaurant CHOPS off the "smiling" ducks neck! LOL LOL LOL and the Mom screams and jumps back it shock.
ReplyDeleteWould you believe I saw it first when it came out in 1983 in the theater. My ex and I and my bff and guy we lined up with her. Man, my bff and I were howling all the way through the movie and her date thought we were weird. lol Hence, they didn't hit it off. My husband and I loved this movie so much we couldn't wait to get the video (vhs) version and when we did my ENTIRE family watched it at my parent's home the following Christmas. When Ralphie spouts off his line to Santa while on his belly on the slide, my brother jumped up and screamed in laughter (before the Santa said it), "you'll shoot your eye out"! and we were all in hysterics. (awh, great Christmas memories)
This is such a cool thing to go see and interact with (your husbands feeling up the leg lamp included, lol). Can't wait to see tomorrows snaps. Yay!
What a wonderful window display of Christmas story. Love to see that with my kids.
ReplyDeleteI really, really love that movie and don't you dare make me pick a favorite scene!
ReplyDeleteThis is a great display. I would love to take stroll through these windows and enjoy the holidays.
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute. Its been awhile since Ive watched that movie but maybe the part with the ugly lamp. lol
ReplyDeleteDefinitely wonderful photos of these lovely Christmas windows, which amused the dogs!
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, this is so neat and funny! Now I need to go watch that movie! LOL
ReplyDeleteOur town has Christmas displays, but they aren't themed from a movie. These look really cool!
ReplyDeletefirst i must say wow your gorgeous and now onto the window display i love it especially the one with the elf with his foot on the kids head to funny
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks :)
DeleteThat is the coolest display ever! I love Christmas Story!! What a neat experience for you to get to see it!
ReplyDeleteAwesome, looked like fun. I think the scene I liked most is the tongue getting stuck on the pole LOL.
ReplyDeleteGreat, it is very authentic
ReplyDeleteIt was a lot of fun seeing this post. I agree, best holiday movie ever. My favorite scene is when Ralphie is dressed in a million layers for the snow. I use the line "You'll shoot your eye out" all the time, too. (Hmm, maybe that's why I'm still single. ?)
ReplyDeleteBe well, and keep us smiling, Theresa.

OMG, I love this post! That movie is one of my all time favorite movies. I waited and waited for them to play it this holiday season but they didn't air it until Christmas Eve and Christmas! I watched it both Christmas EVE and Christmas morning!
ReplyDeleteLove this movie! I enjoyed your pics - what awesome displays - a nice tribute to the best Christmas movie eva!
ReplyDeleteWhat a neat idea, I bet it was fun to get to see. I do think I am the only one that hates that movie - I blame my sister, lol.
ReplyDeleteLooks like a lot of fun! I've never seen the movie, but the idea of Santa kicking the kids down the slide is kind of hilarious.

This is awesome! Definitely one of my favorite holiday movies of all time! My favorite scene would have to be the Santa visit when the elf kicks the kids down the slide lol. - Ana (MommysBundle.com)
ReplyDeleteThese are a lot of fun, I sure wanted to visit that place too - interesting!
ReplyDeleteOk those are too cool I would spend ages trying to spot every little part of it I think :) x
ReplyDeleteThe pics look amazing and it sounds like you had loads and loads of fun! I have never seen the movie myself 'gasp' but I will try to make amends, lol
ReplyDeleteWow, that is amazing. How much fun for the family. I actually have never seen that movie but i think I need to rent it and see what all the fuss is about.
ReplyDeleteI saw that leg lamp photo on your instagram :D awesome story window display!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome display! I had no idea they did such a thing! We love this movie! Watch it over and over every Christmas Eve into Christmas Day. My husband and I would simply Love this place!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great display of fun looking times! My favorite is the little cowboy at the end. So cute!
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely display. It reminds me a lot of the Macy's window display that we would go and look at when we lived in NYC on 34th street. I miss them so much.
ReplyDeleteOh wow that is just so cool. I love that movie and watch it every year!
ReplyDeleteFor someone who does movie posts a lot, I'm ashamed to admit I've never seen A Christmas Story!! I keep meaning to watch every year, but still haven't.
ReplyDeleteI haven't watched in a while but really, it is all fun and games until someone pokes their eye out!
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome! My favorite holiday movie is A Christmas Story. My nephew is obsessed with the movie. He has several themed pieces and even a leg lamp.
ReplyDeleteafter all it's only within the last few decades that most families have had enough disposable income to buy a lot of gifts at Christmas
