The excitement was in full force as soon as we spotted views of the park as we crossed Lake Erie.
The kids are huge Peanuts fans, and loved the Peanuts trimmed topiaries we saw driving up to the park.
Even though the girls were itching to get into the park, we needed a photo at the entrance for their first visit!
Allison is a major thrill seeker, and she could not wait to hop on the coasters first. Cedar Point is home to 15 record breaking rides, including the Millennium Force, which has been voted the World's Best Steel Roller Coaster. While I am more of an old school, wooden coaster kind of girl, we couldn't wait to get on the Magnum XL-200 coaster. It was always a favorite of mine, and I was excited to ride it with my kids.
I always have a moment of panic as soon as we get to the top of the first hill on the coaster. Right before going over the edge, I always get an "OMG! This is really about to happen. No turning back now!" feeling. Then Weeeee! It's On!
I have always been able to say I have rode every coaster at Cedar Point, but the Top Thrill Dragster did me in. This coaster goes from 0 to 120 in less than 4 seconds! It will shoot you up to 420 feet, then send you shooting straight back down. I sat there watching every cart take off, which was thrilling and terrifying all at the same time. I really tried talking myself into getting on it, but in the end, I punked out and just couldn't get passed my fear. However, the kids had no problem showing me up.
I did get my kicks on the Mean Steak wooden coaster though!
My all time favorite coaster happens to be The Maverick, but we only got to ride once as the wait time can reach over 3 hours. We did make up for that on one of the newer coasters, The Gatekeeper, which I hadn't been on yet. I thought the ride was a complete blast! You get twisted, and turned, and looped, but the ride is so smooth, you feel like you are flying!
Cedar Point isn't all about coasters though. There are so many other rides that will get your blood pumping!
The Wicked Twister, Power Tower, and Max Air were some of my kid's favorites.
This year Cedar Point has added 2 new rides. The Lake Erie Eagles and Pipe Scream!
If you stay until dark, you get to see the rides beautifully lit up!
We ended up staying for two days and had the best time riding the rides, but Cedar Point offers so much more than rides. There is something fun for everyone! I wanted to touch on the rides in today's post, but be sure to come back tomorrow to see what other attractions they have to offer!
If you would like to learn more about all of the fun rides at Cedar Point, be sure to visit the website, as well as stay up to date on current happenings by following them on Facebook and Twitter.

You gals are brave. I'd be scared to even watch you ride any of those. Glad you had a great time, though, and you look gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteAwe, thank you Robyn!
DeleteWow, what an awesome day you guys had. My kids LOVE spending the day at amusement parks and that looks like a good one!
ReplyDeleteWhen they get a little older Robin, you should take them to Cedar Point! They would LOVE it!
DeleteI have a little (and by little I mean big) fear of heights so Cedar Point may not be for me lol. But the photos look awesome. I would have a heart attack on the Max Air ride!
ReplyDeleteI am terrified of heights too Keith, but force myself to get on the rides. If it doesn't scare you, it's not worth it, right? ;)
Deletesounds like a fun fun place! Who's the boy next to Maria on the pics?
ReplyDeleteThat's her booyyyy frieeend lol
Deletethat is what I thought too but was afraid to ask directly :)
Deletelooks much better than their carowinds park
ReplyDeleteI'd still like to go to Carowinds some day. Your photos always look so fun!
Deletelol let the kids show you up, geez, that max air one would be a bit crazy, but I'd try them all at my hall
ReplyDeleteYep, they sure did. I've told my husband we need to go back because I think I can do it now. But wait until we get there, I'll probably chicken out again haha!
DeleteOh M-eye Golly Gosh! I could not ride half of those rides. I am more and more brave as I get older, but now this summer, I have to be super careful to not raise my blood pressure, of course. But man, some of these look tooo scary for my blood. We have an amusement park near our home here and I can't ride half of it's rides. Just give me Disneyland and I am super fine there. Ya, just someone give me tickets to Disneyland, please. LOL
ReplyDeleteAhahaha Renae! The rides at Disneyland are definitely much tamer than the ones at Cedar Point!
DeleteI haven't been on the two new rides, but I've been on the rest of them!! The Top Thrill Dragster is my favorite!! My kids love it too. Hubby loves the Maverick and the Raptor. He won't ride the Top Thrill Dragster or the Max Air. My teen and I went on the Gatekeeper last summer and we were both so disappointed, lol. It was very tame, which would have been fine if it looked tame, which it does not. ;)
ReplyDeleteCedar Point is my all-time favorite amusement park ever. That's the city I was born in, and was at the time, the only thing 'to do' so we spent all summer, every summer there...without regret. ;)
Glad your youngest got to ride!! Woot!
I loved the Gatekeeper. Jason didn't like it the first time we rode. He said it didn't do anything for him. We got on again the second day and he changed his tune. He wondered why he liked it so much better the second time around. It was late the first time we rode, so maybe he was just grumpy and tired by that time?
DeleteThe Maverick really is by far the best one they have though!
The Mean Streak was my oldest son's first coaster. Who would pick that for their first???? We were at the end of the park (Millennium wasn't built yet) and it was his last chance to ride a coaster for the day, and he picked that one, lolol
DeleteI think the Millennium is pretty fun! I'm not picky though w/coasters. I just love 'em. I'll try the Gatekeeper again when we go this year and see if I have a better perspective of it too. Good tip. :)
Oh my, my stomach twists and turns just looking at all those rides. I'm a wimp when it comes to them. My husband and the boys love them. I just picture them falling off the track, and me standing at the sidelines seeing them crash to the ground.
ReplyDeleteI'll trust that it's fun for you, your girls, and the rest of my family.
One of the best theme parks around
ReplyDeleteIt can be fun! nice photos!
ReplyDeleteAnother fun place for Summer fun! I will have to look into this when planning one of our vacations!

ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a great time.I love roller coasters but wooden one if i read it correctly? No thank you lol.
ReplyDeleteCedar Point is top notch, that's for sure. They never sit back and just coast. They're always looking to add more thrills!
ReplyDeleteLike me, Lil Pumpkin is a thrill seeker too and wants to sit on the exciting rides so bad!! However, most of the time she's below the height limit sigh. Can't wait till she's taller to go with me!
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
I love Cedar Point! My husband and I went there for our birthdays a few years ago. We can't wait to go back!
ReplyDeleteThis looks like such a fun place. I haven't gone on a roller coaster in years! I loved them back in the teen years, now that I am a Mom it seems I am a chicken :(

ReplyDeleteI've been to Cedar Point once and Loved it! I can't wait to go back!
ReplyDeleteWhoa! How fun is that! I love all the adventurous rides! I bet y'all had a blast
ReplyDeleteThis looks like SO MUCH FUN. I would need to find someone to go with because nobody in my family will tackle the roller coasters with me.
ReplyDeleteI will have to ask my husband if he has been here! His family is in Erie and he spent a lot of his childhood there. We come up that way about every two years. We will be taking our trip to Erie this Aug. :)
ReplyDeleteI have never been to Cedar Point but some of those rides look crazy scary, lol! I bet my daughter would love it.
