In an effort to get in shape and save a little money, Jason joined the gym close to his work last year, and started packing his lunch instead of making a stop at a fast food joint every day. Sometimes he'll take in left overs, but most days he gets up early to pack a sandwich. Lately, he's been complaining about the boring sandwich options that we have on hand. He's tired of turkey and PB&J, so I had a look at the recipes on Golden Blossom Honey to see if anything would spark his interest. I came across this Ham Barbecue Sandwich and knew it was the perfect solution to stomping out our boring sandwich problem.
Ingredients
Sauce: 1 tablespoon olive oil
1 cup green bell pepper, coarsely chopped
1 cup onion, coarsely chopped
1/2 cup ketchup
1/3 cup sweet relish
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
3 tablespoons GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1 pound sliced Black Forest deli ham
4-6 Kaiser rolls, halved

This sandwich makes me think of warm sunny days and picnics with friends. It's a perfect escape from the freezing temperatures we are having right now. I like the simplicity of it as well. Since it's made with deli meat, I can cook this up the night before, then all we have to do it place some of the filling on a roll in the morning and head out the door. It's a quick, easy and filling lunchtime solution!

What are your favorite lunchtime sandwiches?
Really looks good, and the pickle too. :)
ReplyDeleteYou can't have a good sandwich without a pickle!
DeleteI love the flavor of a honey bbq sauce. This looks delicious...making me long for summertime cookouts. Will we ever see summer again in New England??? or just white out conditions!? Yikes!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel! Today is the second snow day in a row. I am getting a little tired of winter!
Deleteall I see is the cute honey boo boo bear :) And the pickle!
ReplyDeleteI have to include the boo boo bear, just for you Dezzy ♥
DeleteThat sound amazing. I have had BBQ chicken, but never BBQ ham - wow, this sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteWe haven't done bbq ham either, and we were really impressed with the flavor of the sandwich! It's definitely a keeper recipe!
DeleteThat sounds so good! I love barbecue. Travis likes it to, but I don't think the boys are crazy about it. They are good eaters, but saucy things in general they aren't crazy about.
ReplyDeleteMariah is the only one here who won't touch bbq. Allison is crazy about it, though!
DeleteThis looks delicious! I have never made BBQ with Ham. This is something to try!
ReplyDeleteoooh yuum...I love all the veggies and try to cut down red meat...but your recipe works for many for sure..
ReplyDeleteWow that's a big sandwich! I like egg salad sandwich so honey probably wouldn't go well with it. I'll take the pickle though!
ReplyDeleteI have to make my own BBQ sauce because most store bought has sugar in it. I am going to try your recipe without the relish and find something else to replace it with.
ReplyDeleteIf it's BBQ, it's for me! I'll be right over for lunch!
ReplyDeleteOoo, that's a good idea! BBQ ham! I'm gonna try this for the hubby this weekend!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a hearty sandwich! I've never had a BBQ ham before.

Mmm....Looks awesome! I will be making this!
ReplyDeleteBBQ ham sounds like a welcome change from the usual fare we all seem to throw on sandwiches!! Golden Blossom Honey is the best and is always in my apartment!!
ReplyDeleteI bet the honey really adds some awesomeness to it :)
ReplyDeleteAnother delicious-looking meal from Golden Blossom! I'm convinced you'll run out of these recipes sooner or later ;)
ReplyDeleteI hope not! I love their recipes lol ;)
DeleteThat sure won't bore indeed
ReplyDeleteThat looks so yummy! Sounds easy to make too
ReplyDeleteBarbeque is my husband's favorite food group. LOL That's what he always says anyways.
ReplyDeleteI love barbecue sandwiches. I have seen chicken and regular barbecue but not ham this looks and sounds yummy. Thanks for opening my eyes to another sandwich possibilty.
ReplyDeleteI could maybe see substituting the ham for turkey, but I'd probably have to leave off the sweet barbecue sauce, too.

That looks great, I think about BBQ pork, but not ham for some reason; and the touch of honey probably makes it.
ReplyDeleteMy husband gets tired of the same ol' - same ol' too. He'd like this sandwich. Great way to use the honey!
ReplyDeleteMmm, yum. I don't even like ham, but that looks and sounds good. =)
ReplyDeleteHappy weekend, Theresa.
That looks fabulous and tasty. Have to try that honey
ReplyDeleteI am not a fan of meat - though I am not a vegetarian and I do still cook for my family. I know my husband would love this!
ReplyDeleteIt looks delicious. Too bad I'm a terrible cook. No one ever visits my cave when it's dinner time. Guess why....
ReplyDeleteThat sandwhich looks yummy! I need to change things up for my hubby and I know that he would love this. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat looks delicious! It would go along well with a mid-winter luau party!
