I was sitting here last night and it hit me. We have less than 2 weeks before Easter, and I haven't bought a single thing for my girl's Easter baskets this year! No gifts, no candy, no nothing! Mariah is pretty easy to buy for, but Allison is at that stage where the toy aisles aren't that cool anymore, but she's not quite interested in what the teens are all using either. I sat here trying to think up suitable gifts that didn't cost a fortune (because if she had her way, she'd be sporting a cell phone right now, which is a big, fat no-go!) and kept coming up with nothing. Then I remembered she just started a Wanelo account, so I headed over there to see what's been grabbing her attention lately. If you are struggling for tween girl basket filler ideas, then allow me to make a few suggestions ;)
Every time we get invited to a birthday party, the first thing the girls ask for are Lego Friends. We have quite the collection started here, but I thought this LEGO Friends Bunny and Babies set would be cute for the baskets.
If your kids are like mine, then Minecraft is all the rage right now. These Minecraft Action Figures with Accessory is a must to continue Minecraft play away from the computer!
I am a huge fan of putting books in baskets for gifts. Wreck This Journal is an awesome book that gets kids using their imaginations. I bought this one for Allison for Christmas, and she is still using it often, and is even asking for other editions to fill her collection. The book is meant to be written in and destroyed, giving prompts like: Smear mud on this page, or fill this page with fruit stickers, or even rip this page out and freeze it."

Both of my girls (and all their friends!) are obsessed with EOS lipbalm! I think the spheres are a bit awkward to hold, but they also make EOS Organic Lip Balm Sticks!
All natural nail-polishes are great too! I like Piggy Paint because it's low odor, non-toxic and kid friendly!

Maybe my kids are weird, but they adore electronic toothbrushes and look forward to getting them. Allison has a Frozen electric toothbrush on her wishlist right now, but she is currently using one that comes with stickers so she can customize it to her liking.

Of course, when all else fails, the classic gift card and movie ticket gifts are always well received!

Yes! And the stupid thing has been sold out everywhere! I FINALLY stumbled upon a set at Amazon this weekend and snapped it up. It will probably be a birthday gift though, as we tend to do smaller gifts on Easter.

ReplyDeleteThat stuff does look like fun. I didn't buy anything. I do however have a back stash of toys they are getting. Travis and I both got a 3D puzzle for each of them in the fall, these blank characters they can draw on, 2 small Star Wars sets, and I won an outdoor game from Liz's blog awhile back. They won't get all that. We'll have to decide what to give, and what not to give.

ReplyDeleteWreck this journal along with the scented pens would be a hit for any girl! I don't have to worry about Easter Baskets yet (my grand niece is still a bit young)--but I am sure books will be included when she is!

Great minds think alike. I got kiddo that toothbrush last year. I also found some special edition Easter Legos. She loved both of them. This year I am thinking some special school supplies, maybe a Monster High doll or something. And of course, nail polish. Now that she is settled here she has some little girl friends and they are all about nail polish.

ReplyDeleteI must be old. I remember when Lego was just bricks you built into houses. Today you can do almost anything with Legos. You can build a robot or a computer or a new car or a girlfriend! Wait, forget that last one.

ReplyDeleteI'm not buying baskets for my kids this year. Instead I've purchased roller derby knee pads for my oldest daughter and I purchased Matthew West concert tickets for the other five kids. I've never heard of Wreck This Journal, but really think it's neat. I may have to look into purchasing a couple of those journals for my teens for Christmas.
