*UPDATED! This post is several years old and I still see quite a bit of traffic coming to this post from Pinterest. My daughter recently updated her Easter basket filler ideas for teen girls in a new blog post. You can see what's trending as of May 2017 HERE!
I was sitting here last night and it hit me. We have less than 2 weeks before Easter, and I haven't bought a single thing for my girl's Easter baskets this year! No gifts, no candy, no nothing! Mariah is pretty easy to buy for, but Allison is at that stage where the toy aisles aren't that cool anymore, but she's not quite interested in what the teens are all using either. I sat here trying to think up suitable gifts that didn't cost a fortune (because if she had her way, she'd be sporting a cell phone right now, which is a big, fat no-go!) and kept coming up with nothing. Then I remembered she just started a Wanelo account, so I headed over there to see what's been grabbing her attention lately. If you are struggling for tween girl basket filler ideas, then allow me to make a few suggestions ;)
Every time we get invited to a birthday party, the first thing the girls ask for are Lego Friends. We have quite the collection started here, but I thought this LEGO Friends Bunny and Babies set would be cute for the baskets.
If your kids are like mine, then Minecraft is all the rage right now. These Minecraft Action Figures with Accessory is a must to continue Minecraft play away from the computer!
I am a huge fan of putting books in baskets for gifts. Wreck This Journal is an awesome book that gets kids using their imaginations. I bought this one for Allison for Christmas, and she is still using it often, and is even asking for other editions to fill her collection. The book is meant to be written in and destroyed, giving prompts like: Smear mud on this page, or fill this page with fruit stickers, or even rip this page out and freeze it."
For the girls who are artsy, Gel Pens are a huge hit! Especially if you can find the scented ones!

Both of my girls (and all their friends!) are obsessed with EOS lipbalm! I think the spheres are a bit awkward to hold, but they also make EOS Organic Lip Balm Sticks!
All natural nail-polishes are great too! I like Piggy Paint because it's low odor, non-toxic and kid friendly!

Maybe my kids are weird, but they adore electronic toothbrushes and look forward to getting them. Allison has a Frozen electric toothbrush on her wishlist right now, but she is currently using one that comes with stickers so she can customize it to her liking.

Of course, when all else fails, the classic gift card and movie ticket gifts are always well received!
What are you putting in your baskets this year?
My boys have ALL of those Minecraft figures. They are just a little obsessed. Awesome ideas :)
ReplyDeletedid you see that they've released FROZEN lego?
ReplyDeleteLove those lil' socks and I wanna gel pens too :)
Yes! And the stupid thing has been sold out everywhere! I FINALLY stumbled upon a set at Amazon this weekend and snapped it up. It will probably be a birthday gift though, as we tend to do smaller gifts on Easter.
DeleteFrozen Lego?? I am going to see if I can find that on Amazon too.
Deletethey're already making CINDERELLA legos too :)
DeleteYeah, they castle is $70 though. I just can't fork that much cash over even if it is cute!
DeleteI was very much confused what to buy for my kids birthday party. Thanks for your suggestions!
ReplyDeleteThat stuff does look like fun. I didn't buy anything. I do however have a back stash of toys they are getting. Travis and I both got a 3D puzzle for each of them in the fall, these blank characters they can draw on, 2 small Star Wars sets, and I won an outdoor game from Liz's blog awhile back. They won't get all that. We'll have to decide what to give, and what not to give.
ReplyDeleteThanks for these great ideas! It's nice to be able to put something substantial in the Easter baskets that don't break my bank!
ReplyDeleteI love the WRECK THIS JOURNAL! It's a great tool to let little ones write freely.
ReplyDeleteI had no idea EOS came in tube too! Man, where have I been? I would totally kill for some right now!
ReplyDeleteWreck this journal along with the scented pens would be a hit for any girl! I don't have to worry about Easter Baskets yet (my grand niece is still a bit young)--but I am sure books will be included when she is!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter had Wreck This Journal and loved it. I never thought about putting it in an Easter basket.
ReplyDeleteGel pens were a big hit with my daughter but I never thought to include them in an Easter basket. Great idea! I hear Minecraft is super popular now too.
ReplyDeleteAll great! I think I may get my girlies some piggy paint. They love getting their nails done and I've heard such great things!
ReplyDeleteDoodle pens and nail polish are always great for tweens! I have yet to figure out this Minecraft craze
ReplyDeleteAll my girls are grown up, except my youngest, she is getting there an i cant wait.
ReplyDeleteWhat darling ideas for Easter baskets. I am always on the look out for something new to fill my childrens baskets. I appreciate you suggestions.
ReplyDeleteI have two tween girls and really appreciate these creative Easter basket ideas. I know they would especially love those gel pens and even I want those funky socks!
ReplyDeleteI love fun stuff like this for easter baskets. Hair care products for girls are always a hit and the boys love cars. Thanks for your ideas.
ReplyDeleteThese are great ideas. It is also a wonderful reminder that I need to get on top of the Easter basket shopping!
ReplyDeleteNo children and I am no longer teaching so I am not making baskets, plus my birthday is the 4th, everybody better be taking ME out! :-)

My kids are way past the age for Easter Baskets. I welcome that, as it isn't my culture growing up in Jamaica, so it was hard getting into it to begin with
ReplyDeleteThese are great ideas. Perfect for little girls.
ReplyDeleteYou sure can't go wrong with anything minecraft these days
ReplyDeleteThese are fun gifts for Easter Baskets. I love the socks they are so real looking.
ReplyDeleteThese are great gifts - the Legos, gel pens, and fuzzy print socks...You do Easter right. I love fuzzy print socks and KMart sells them for $1/pair. I'm wearing them now.
ReplyDeleteHappy pre-Easter hunting/shopping, Theresa.
Great minds think alike. I got kiddo that toothbrush last year. I also found some special edition Easter Legos. She loved both of them. This year I am thinking some special school supplies, maybe a Monster High doll or something. And of course, nail polish. Now that she is settled here she has some little girl friends and they are all about nail polish.
ReplyDeleteThese are great ideas! I would like some of them in my Easter Basket!
ReplyDeletewe'd just get candy when we were little
ReplyDeleteI have a tween girl basket to put together this year. Thanks for the great suggestions!
ReplyDeleteI must be old. I remember when Lego was just bricks you built into houses. Today you can do almost anything with Legos. You can build a robot or a computer or a new car or a girlfriend! Wait, forget that last one.
ReplyDeleteI haven't gotten anything yet for the Easter baskets yet. Not sure what I am going to do.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a daughter, but I love that you have some "girly" items and some not so girly items. I'm going shopping this weekend to fill my son's basket and anything Mine Craft would make him happy, too.
ReplyDeleteI love a lot of the things you suggested! An emoji pillow, EOS and the wreck journal are my favs!
ReplyDeletethose are great choices. i love that you included something about mine crafts and the lego girls. my daughter is 7 but she loves all that stuff. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great alternative to all that sugar! Great post Theresa!
ReplyDeleteFun ideas - I love making Easter baskets! Each basket made especially for the person.
ReplyDeleteJournals and nail polish are definitely big ones for our tween girls! This is a great list!
ReplyDeleteI'm not buying baskets for my kids this year. Instead I've purchased roller derby knee pads for my oldest daughter and I purchased Matthew West concert tickets for the other five kids. I've never heard of Wreck This Journal, but really think it's neat. I may have to look into purchasing a couple of those journals for my teens for Christmas.
