Tis' the season for cooking, baking and parties. We usually start to plan our dinner menu and desserts ahead of time, but what about yummy holiday beverages? I sometimes think their importance to a holiday table is often overlooked. I saw this Holiday Punch recipe on Golden Blossom Honey recently, and knew it was something I wanted to try asap.
Even though it's served cold, with the addition of the cinnamon and ginger, it has a warmth to the overall taste. It is so delicious, and if you could give Christmas a flavor, it would be this holiday punch! The addition of the citrus fruits rounds out the overall flavor really nicely. You could also make this more of an adult beverage and spike it with some rum or maybe even a hit of vodka. Yum!
Ingredients
4 cups water1 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
14 whole cloves
4 cinnamon sticks
4 (1/2-inch) slices fresh ginger
8 cups apple cider
3 cups orange juice
1 1/2 cups fresh lemon juice (about 8 large lemons)
rum optional
orange and lemon slices for garnish

What's your favorite holiday party beverage?
I don't drink anything different, I remember people complaining when I worked at a dairy department many moons ago on Dec 26 when there was no more egg nog.
ReplyDeleteI just don't get the appeal of eggnog. Jason buys a carton of it every holiday and it just looks nasty!
DeleteI don't like it either. Blah
DeleteI think I would puke from it myself :)
DeleteId probably put tea in it instead of water to really make it a punch... but it looks so nom nom that I'd dip my whole face in it :)
ReplyDeleteI've just made me a cup of camomile tea and instead of sweetener put some lemon and vanilla sugar in it... nom nom
That's one way to hydrate dry winter skin ;) See, this is a multipurpose kind of beverage lol
Deletebetter face than feet :)
DeleteThis looks really yummy! Will definitely have to try this Christmas Eve when all the grandparents are in town...my parents don't drink (at all) so we may just have to add splashes of rum or vodka to the other glasses. :) Yum!!
ReplyDeleteI don't drink either, but a lot of my family does like to add a splash of alcohol to their beverages, so they'll have to add it on their own as well. I meant to say earlier, I am glad you enjoyed those pecan pie bars! I've been craving them a lot lately and have been thinking about making another batch, but with 3 birthdays this month, I am already going to be over doing it on the sugar intake from all the bday cake coming my way.
DeleteHoney sure can be used for a ton. Can't say I've ever even tried punch lol
ReplyDeleteMy aunt makes a spiked punch, but this looks great to! I should try it.
