When you think of spring break, you usually think relaxation, right? I know I do. But, this spring break has been anything but relaxing, I actually can't wait for it to be over. It's been a week of extra kids at our house, birthday parties, tween girl drama, and to top it all off, prom dress shopping. I never went to prom, so I didn't realize how freaking stressful shopping for that perfect dress would be. Those of you who only have boys, consider yourself very, very lucky.
When I feel overly stressed, like I have this week, I like to calm myself with baking. I am trying my best to shed 10 pounds before summer hits, so baking up cookies or cake wasn't going to cut it. Quick bread sounded like it would be a good option, so I browsed around on Golden Blossom Honey for a bit, until I ran across this Orange Walnut Bread recipe. It looked like a warm, satisfying comfort food that I so needed to end my week with.
The warm, citrus notes in this bread are so satisfying. And, your house will smell incredible as it is baking! A slice of this and a warm cup of tea put me in my happy place. It makes a perfect snack when you need to steal a few minutes away for yourself.

How do you calm yourself after a stressful day?
I bet this is really good! I'd like to try this one. I can almost smell it.
ReplyDeleteI bet you will love it, Alissa! It does smell so good!
DeleteA prom dress? Oh, my, we will have to choose something really nice :) And she ain't a dressy lass, right?
ReplyDeleteThe bread does look nom! Although that is an expensive amount of honey in it :) We had some honey on discount a few weeks ago so I bought me two 1kg jars for supplies :)
No, she's not a dressy girl at all. I think that's why it was so hard to find something. Plus, she wanted a lavender dress, so we were really limited on options. We did find one on our 6th boutique stop though. It's simple, yet classy, and cost twice what I wanted to pay for a dress. I'll see if I can get her to put it on this weekend and will send you a sneak preview on Facebook :)
Deletecould be the only time you see her in a gown, so pay up, momma :) Or daddy, depends who carries the wallet :)
DeleteAh, I do so look forward to Fridays over here. :) This recipe is perfect! Pinning it to make over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Rosey :) If you make it, let me know what you think!
DeleteI think it was wonderful. I think next time I'm going to add some cranberries too. I saw some big fat ones at the grocery store this weekend, and they'd be an awesome addition. And prom night will make the dress worth every penny. ;)
Deletelooks nice
ReplyDeleteThanks, Adam!
DeleteAll I know about prom dresses is they can be expensive. Good luck shopping. That bread surely must go over well indeed.
ReplyDeleteExpensive, indeed! Jason was not thrilled at the cost of the one she picked out, but it seemed to be a lot cheaper than many of the others on the racks.
DeleteHow yummy! I love that you sweetened it with honey, as well. I'll be baking up a loaf of this for the weekend.
ReplyDeleteI've made Banana Walnut Bread, but never made Orange Walnut Bread. I would love to try out this recipe sometime!
ReplyDeleteI hope your weekend is less stressful. That bread looks so yummy. I like to hang out with my girlfriends for a couple drinks when I get stressed.
ReplyDeleteI just started making bread recently but I've never tried Orange Walnut Bread! It looks and sounds delicious!
ReplyDeleteThat bread looks delicious! I never thought of adding orange to my bread! And I want you to know I feel your pain with the whole prom dress shopping thing! When my oldest went to prom the first year, we spent hours searching for the perfect dress. There were a whole lot of tears involved. I've had to shop for a prom dress with one or both of my oldest 2 daughters for the last 5 years and I'm so thankful I have another 8 years before my 3rd child is old enough for prom!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really yummy looking recipe! I love the combination of orange and walnuts. Citrus and nuts goes really well together in baking.
ReplyDeleteI've never had orange in my bread before. Very unique and it sounds awesome! I'm with other commenters, I can just smell it now!
ReplyDeleteoooh..I can smell that beautiful bread from here, Theresa. Looks moist and yuum :)

ReplyDeleteOh this is motivating me to get baking. I haven't baked bread in so long. looks great
ReplyDeleteBread is my downfall. I love it, but can't stop with just one slice and this recipe sure looks tasty. I wouldn't dare bake a loaf when I'm the only one at home. I'd eat it all.
ReplyDeleteThis bread looks so delicious! It would be a great snack. I've never baked bread before.
ReplyDeleteI have never had orange walnut bread, but it looks amazing! My daughter would love this recipe!
ReplyDeleteYou had me at orange.....anything citrus, I love! Pinning. Did you put any blog updates on the bathroom and I missed them?
ReplyDeleteI haven't posted bathroom updates yet, but I am thinking they'll be up by the end of next week :)
DeleteThis is interesting. I like the concept of honey being infused in the bread!
ReplyDeleteI love anything with citrus! I especially love that it's sweetened with honey, can't wait to try this recipe.
