Wake Up To Sunshine In A Cup With This Cantaloupe Banana Smoothie

I don't know about you, but I am pretty thrilled that the warm weather is back! Beach days, back yard BBQ, walks in the park, and sitting on the deck reading a good book with a cold drink in hand are some of my favorite things about this time of year. I'm a southern girl, so sweet tea is usually high on my list of favorite summertime drinks, but one other beverage has that beat: a fruity smoothie. I usually use strawberries as a base, but have been branching out and trying new concoctions lately so I decided to give this Cantaloupe Banana Smoothie recipe from Golden Blossom Honey a try the other day. 


I like to cut up my fruit and freeze it solid before blending for a thicker consistency, but it's just as tasty fresh out of the melon and peel. One of the things I like about the combination of ingredients is you don't get tiny seeds stuck in your teeth, like you would if you used a berry base. With this recipe, you get a creamy consistency and a light refreshing taste rolled into one yummy smoothie. Perfect for lazing around on a warm summer day soaking up the sounds of nature and sunshine. 

1 cup cantaloupe
1 banana
1/2 cup nonfat or low fat plain yogurt
1 tablespoon RAW GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

I'd do it without the yoghurt with maybe half a lemon squeezed in, but it is still way too early for melons here, it is time for strawberries here right now, and then the first peaches should arrive probably next month. I like only those greenish melons that taste like pineapple, these orangy pumpkin ones are usually a bit nasty. It was nice in the Lipton tea, though, that you once, methinks, sent me.

    1. I'm opposite and don't care much for the greenish melons. The cantaloupe has to be really ripe and sweet for me to enjoy it though. I don't recall sending you a cantaloupe flavored tea. I don't think we have that in my area. I do recall sending some with fruity flavors though. The pyramid bags?

    2. then it was Annzie, probably, it was Lipton Green Tea with melon and acai berry! You probably sent me Super Fruits Blueberry and pomegranate or something :) I'm currently preferring TeeKanne green teas with orange, peach, mango and lemon.

    3. It probably was the super fruits with blueberry and pomegranate since that's what Jason drinks. I tried a new strawberry infused tea the other day and it was just super weak. More like drinking water with a hint of berry and I even used 2 tea bags! I like flavored teas, but I also like to taste my tea too!

    4. their old strawberry and blue fruits teas were extremely strong, so strong that when I would brew me a cup and leave it on the window to cool off for ice tea, my mother would, out in the yard, think somebody is cooking jam :) The super fruits collection really is weak, indeed. I prefer TeeKanne and Polish Lloyd teas currently, they're extra strong.

  2. Back to summer days with no snow and cold is sure a win. Unles it gets buttcrack sweating hot, then maybe not lol stick to water at my sea.

    1. I also like to keep sports drinks on hand for super hot days. Except the ones that have red dye in them. Those always make me feel sick.

  11. Those are two flavors I never would have thought to combine. Personally never liked cantaloupe, but now I have to wonderful what the effect would be mixed with banana.

  14. Cantaloupes and bananas in a smoothie? Yes and yes. I love those two together and the addition of honey made it even more delicious. I am making this soon as I get some cantaloupe from the store. I can't wait!

  18. Cantaloupe is really nice and it's a good addition to your smoothies in the summer. It's really refreshing! I'm definitely keeping this recipe. I like that you use honey instead of sugar.
