I've never understood the obsession people have with worrying about what other people eat. I mean, what you put in your body has no affect on my life what-so-ever, so you'll never hear me make a comment on your dietary choices. Over the past year, I have found that when I tell people that I don't eat meat they think I'm nuts. How can that be? What do you eat then? Your life must suck. Come to dinner at your house? No, thanks. People assume that because I am a vegetarian that I simply don't know how to cook meat worthy of their standards, which is simply not true. I can throw down with the best cooks, and that is why my family usually asks me to host holiday gatherings. They know the food is going to rock. Even though I don't make a lot of meat dishes these days, when I make excess soup and have leftovers for the next day, I always make Jason a separate meal with a meaty main dish. Since I know he's been missing having pork chops lately, last week when I had my leftover soup for dinner I thought I would treat him to these Crunchy Pecan Pork Chops, a recipe that I found on Golden Blossom Honey.
I had accidentally bought a bag of pecans from Costco, not realizing that I already had a 5 pound bag at home. I've been looking for recipes to go through them all, and this pork chop recipe was a great way to reduce my stash. Plus, Jason got a rare meat dinner, so we would both call that a win. These Pecan Pork Chops are so perfect for fall, for you meat eaters I have a feeling this recipe is going to be in the favorites pile of your autumn recipe collection. Jason raved about them for days, so take that all you people who think a vegetarian doesn't know how to cook ;)

What are some of your favorite recipes to use nuts in during the fall months?
No piggies were harmed during the making of this meal.... oh, wait, nope :( Poor piggies, did you know they're actually smarter than dogs? I used to sneak in and free our piglets when I was a kid when my grandpa was preparing to butcher them for meat. After a few of such attempts they started locking me in when they were preparing the slaughter.
ReplyDeleteI do ever so love your square plates!
I didn't know your grandpa had a farm. My grandma had one too. However, she only had chickens for eggs and goats for milk. Those were the only animals there, the rest was beans and corn. I think my days on the farm must have been much happier times than yours.
DeleteWe have square bowls too. Guests always think they are so fun, though I don't get it. They are just as commonplace as the round bowls here, so I don't understand the fascination with them lol.
what do you mean you did not know? I grew up on a farm! We sold it when grandparents died, took the money and bought the house we live in today. That is why everybody wonders how the hell Dezzy is such glamour icon if he grew up on a farm :)
DeleteI adore square dishes, I've been trying for years to find a seethrough square cup or mug, but no luck so far, but I do have a baby blue one
Dahlink, in all the years we've been friends, I swear you never mentioned growing up on a farm. You did mention little animals here and there though, so I guess I should have put two and two together.
DeleteI don't think I've ever seen a square see through mug before. You should create one and sell it. That would be your million dollar invention! I'll be your first customer :)
People always have to stick their nose into other people's eating habits. After I tell them to shut the he** up and that they know nothing about what works for me, they still try. That's when they get the pound sand.
ReplyDeleteI usually just eat the nuts as is.
I love the "how do you get protein in your diet?" Um, if you took the time to educate yourself, you'd see there are plenty of plant based proteins. Gotta love those who think they know what's best for someone else.
DeleteThat looks incredible! I love the crunch of the pecans and the sweetness of the honey. I can almost taste the deliciousness!
ReplyDeleteMy mouth always waters when I come here. This looks so good!
ReplyDeleteIt's cool that you were able to use your extra pecans for this. This definitely sounds like a tasty pork chop idea!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds delicious. I had some awesome pecan chicken a while back and this looks similar.
ReplyDeleteSome people can be insensitive. They think they can comment on your diet however and whenever they want. Anyway, I think this recipe is something that my growing boys will love, they're a huge fan of meat these days.
ReplyDeleteOh wow! What a lovely recipe that's perfect for me and my husband. I can't wait to give it a try. It looks really tasty!
ReplyDeleteI would have never thought to add pecans to pork chops, but this sounds amazing. We are big meat eaters, and I think if I made this, my husband would be so impressed. I will have to try this for dinner.
ReplyDeleteI am pinning this. My husband like to make pork chops and I'm always searching for a new way instead of just plain on the grill.
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting combination of flavors! I would really enjoy this, I am sure of it.
ReplyDeleteI just bought some beautiful pork chops and I have the other ingredients lying around the kitchen. I will make this tomorrow night!
ReplyDeleteMy meat loving family would gobble this up in record time. Pork chops are a favorite in this house and to have it served this way, with honey and pecans, oh wow. We'd have happy tummies!
ReplyDeleteThat's an interesting idea.
ReplyDeletethis looks absolutely wonderul Theresa and delicious !! hugs!
ReplyDeleteI have gotten those, 'oh my gosh,' comments my whole life. Ordering in a restaurant is always fun too. ;) The pork chops look great. I'm supposing my grown three would be all over them and wishing for seconds!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great fall dish! Taking on notes on this one to make!
ReplyDeleteI might be able to change the pork with something else as I don't eat it. But I have to admit honey gives an extra kick for all my grill recipes :)
