Who's getting ready for the Big Game? We most definitely are! I look forward to spending a few hours with family, food, and football. We're kind of split down the middle on what's more important, the game or the food, and since my team is not in the running this year, I am siding with the foodies this time. Since I have a lot of people coming over this year that have expressed an interest in sticking with their healthy body resolutions, I'll be switching out our menu to include some better for you snacks to help them stay on track, but still be able to feel like they are indulging in the festivities. Even with the healthier swaps, there's something for everyone to enjoy here!
Here are some of the swaps that we're incorporating into our Big Game Menu to make our spread a bit healthier than traditional game day grub:
Buffalo Chicken Sliders instead of hamburgers
Twice Baked Sweet Potatoes over fries and loaded baked potato skins
Fruit and Veggie Platter in place of a meat and cheese platter
Heart Healthy Almonds instead of salted peanuts
Vegetarian pizza over meat lovers pizza
Buffalo Cauliflower wings over traditional chicken wings
Flavored Sparkling Water in place of soda
Crunchy Snacks like Snack Factory® Pretzel Crisps®, Kettle Brand® Potato Chips, and Late July® Tortilla Chips in place of fried potato chips
Lighter game day dips that are not filled with sour cream and mayo such as salsa, my Creamy Avocado Dip, and my Spicy Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce
Neither of these dips have fattening cream based fillers in them, so they are perfect for pairing with Late July® Tortilla Chips and Snack Factory® Pretzel Crisps® for lighter game day eats that still pack a tasty punch.
Creamy Avocado Dipping Sauce

Spicy Honey Mustard Dipping Sauce
INGREDIENTS:
- 1/8 cup of water
- 3 tbsp spicy brown mustard
- 3 tbsp honey
- 1 tsp soy sauce
INSTRUCTIONS:
- Place all ingredients into a small saucepan. Over medium heat, bring to an almost boil. Reduce heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Serve warm.

What healthier food swaps will you be making on your Big Game spread this year?
Big Game? Don't you mean Patriots Cheatofest 2018?
ReplyDeleteNot a Patriots fan either, I suppose? They definitely aren't my favorite team.
DeleteI love this so much. So, so much. I have seen some "better for you" big game eats before that were absolutely NOT big game eats. These are absolutely what I think of when I think of game eats.
ReplyDeleteThank you Stacie :)
DeleteThese look so good! Any time I can eat healthy options that look and taste UNhealthy, I am in. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI agree! Nobody wants to eat healthy tasting snacks at the game, but these let you cheat a little and still pack a lot of healthy benefits to them.
DeleteNom nom nom such rich photos! The room will sure smell of garlic :) Cauliflower thingy sounds nom too! There seems to be a craze over cauliflower over in USA judging from my recipe pages at Facebook :)
ReplyDeleteCauliflower was my saving grace when I switched to a veg diet. I use it all the time. The cauliflower wings are soooo good. We had my inlaws over last night for some and he mentioned how good they were about 5 times in an hour. Jason gets teased at work all the time for me making meatless meals at home, but he'll turn around and say, but the cauliflower wings are freaking delicious so whatever! I'll be putting the recipe up for them later this week along with the sweet potatoes too.
DeleteDo you repeat all this, I mean the cooking, on the night itself all do you cook something else :) Since you always have to do these event or holiday posts ahead.
DeleteI will repeat cook all of this on game night too. When I do big recipe posts like these, I do it well in advance and invite the inlaws or friends over to help eat it all. I think the game is in 2 weeks? That will give us enough time passed so we don't feel like we're eating the same stuff over and over again. Our other family members will also bring snacks so there's an even bigger variety, we can skip what we're tired of and eat what they brought :)
DeleteYummm. Those Chia chips look good! My boys would eat all of this up. They are excited for the Super Bowl.
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of just about anything avocado! Your dipping sauce would be a big hit with our family. May have to triple the recipe!
ReplyDeleteOk I want to come to YOUR house for the Super Bowl (please????). What a delicious spread. It makes the game that much more fun.
ReplyDeleteI don't watch football but I do like snacks.
ReplyDeleteThese dips look so good. Perfect for game days. I make a lot of food and prepare snacks, chips and dips. If my boys have lot of food on game days, they are not that noisy when their mouths are full. Ha ha.
ReplyDeleteYou'll sure have plenty of snacks ready to go as the Patriots do their same old diddy again.
ReplyDeleteThis is right up Travis' game. He has to have snacks, while he's watching. These look good!
ReplyDeleteWe are trying to eat better in our house, so I definitely want to check these out. They sound like awesome snacks.
ReplyDeleteTime to crunch, indeed! I would totally love to crunch and bite into all of these snacks - I'm so hungry now!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome to prepare game day snacks and recipes that are healthier than what we're used to. I'm pretty sure my family's going to want to eat these too, the list is definitely perfect for us!
ReplyDeleteI've been trying to eat healthier since the start of the year and I also make sure to prepare healthier recipes for my kids and husband. I would love for this to be our game day menu!
ReplyDeletePerfect snacks for watching all of the great commercials which is the only reason we watch.
ReplyDeleteThose sliders look great. I am so ready for the game day snacks.
ReplyDeleteI am loving them healthier snack options. I know super bowl is coming but more and more people are getting help conscious and I am definitely happy to see some of these delish healthier snacks especially the quinoa chips!
ReplyDeleteIf you can indulge and still be happy because they're healthy (but delicious) choices, I'm all in!! That's a win-win even before the game starts. :)
ReplyDeleteOh my...that looks delicious Theresa!
