Hey, guys! I'm back! Yippee! As much fun as I had on my European travels, it feels so good to be back home. We were running on about 5 hours of sleep a night since I was itching to see as much as I could on our trip, so I slept a good 3 days upon returning just to get regulated back on U.S. time. Blog friends, I'm still trying to catch up on your posts, so bear with me while I work on that.
One thing that surprised me was the temperature in the areas we visited. I packed only 2 pairs of jeans thinking I would get by with mostly shorts and dresses, but found London and Paris were the only two cities I felt were warm enough to wear shorter clothes. Ireland was chilly and Iceland was downright frigid, but thankfully two apartments we stayed in had a washing machine so we could reuse our warmer clothes. Paris temperatures were almost brutal though, and this is coming from a girl who loves the heat. Even though we kept refilling our water bottles, I was so thirsty there. What would have made the visit a dream would have been finding a little shady corner to sit in and people watch while eating a croissant and sipping on some Honey Lemonade.
I made this honey lemonade before we left for our trip and thought it made for one refreshing summertime drink. I haven't ever put honey into my lemonade to sweeten it before, so I was pleasantly surprised by the flavor combination.
If you have plans to be out in the hot summer heat, pour some into an infuser bottle, toss in some berries, and cool off with this tasty and healthy drink while on the go.

What's your favorite beverage to sip on during hot summer days?
I see... little missy finally understand how poor Dezzy feels during European heats :)
ReplyDeleteWhat's with the warm water in the lemonade? I do adore me honey in me lemonade and ice tea indeed.
So lovely to have you back and lovely photos as well, refreshing yellows!
Jason and I were laughing when we heard London was supposed to hit record high temps today at around 100F. I said that's nothing. Have them go to Death Valley in the middle of July and see how they feel then.
DeleteParis heat would have been tolerable if we weren't walking all day long. We were doing over 30,000 steps a day so that contributed to getting overly hot there.
I believe the warm water in the recipe is to help the honey dissolve without killing off its nutritional properties.
I'm so happy to be back! While I love, love, love traveling, there really is no place like home.
Sure would help to keep cool. So, wait, Iceland was cold? Can't really say the name doesn't warn you lol Weather sure can play havoc with trips.
ReplyDeleteIceland usually has temps around 65 degrees in July, so when we stepped off the plane into rainy, windy, cold weather, I was not pleased lol. Apparently, it was warm the week before, but took a dive as soon as we arrived. Go figure.
DeleteThis does look wonderful!
ReplyDeleteI squeeze 2 lemons or limes in an big pitcher, add 2 lemon or lime carbonated waters, add 2 squirts of lemon liquid Stevia, fill it up with 2 cups of ice, and lastly fill it up with water.
That sounds refreshing too, Alissa! I love carbonated water, so I am going to have to try that soon!
DeleteIt's been a while since I made lemonade.

ReplyDeleteHow serendipitous as I was just looking to make lemonade with ginger and honey. I think honey is a good substitute sweetener over sugar.
