What you need:
Popsicle Sticks
Printed out picture of your choosing
Mod Podge
Exacto Knife
Print out any picture you like, but make sure it is at least as long as your popsicle sticks. Clip your picture a little larger than the sticks. Lay out popsicle sticks and line them up flat end to flat end.
Brush Mod Podge over all the sticks. Carefully lay your picture over the sticks, then firmly press down, making sure it is completely stuck to the glue on the sticks. Brush Mod Podge over your picture.
Allow all the glue to completely dry. Once dry, using your exacto knife (adults only here!) cut each stick away from the others. Flip the stick over on the side without the paper. Cut the excess paper from around the corners.
There you have your very own custom puzzles! Cheap, easy and fun!
err..is that Harry Styles? ..Your idea of popsicle stick puzzle is BRILLIANT!...is that Harry Styles?
ReplyDeleteMind me, I am a fan of Harry Styles...if I ever get a toy boy, he is the one..LOL!
Yep, that would be Harry Styles. My daughter is a nut for One Direction, but especially Harry! You might have to fight her for the right to claim him as your boy toy though lol.
DeleteGreat craft idea! Today's the last day for my kids so we'll be looking for stuff to do.
ReplyDeleteAnd I agree Harry is pretty cute, and I'm not surprised your daughter chose that photo for her puzzle!
Happy Monday!

I just noticed my puzzle skills suck. I didn't line up the arm area right before taking the picture hehehe.
DeleteWow, your kids are getting out late, but they must go back after Labor Day then? Ours used to be scheduled like that. I wish we still did it that way!
You are Super Mom! I bet the kids loved that. I'm a big fan of kicking them out of the house and telling them to go climb a tree. Of course in this day and age, you have to climb the tree with them to avoid the bad guys. Childhood has gotten so much more complicated than when we were young. My mom never had to entertain me nor did I get bored in the summer. Kids lost the art of play when they threw out their Barbies because they didn't know how to make up stories. Finally, as a teacher, tears over skinned knees drive me nuts. When we were kids, we never saw knee skin because we played hard from sunrise to sunset. I wish we could go back to those carefree days.

I agree, I love kicking them out of the house. I don't think a lot of parents are fans of doing this now a days since we are the family on the block that has all the fun kid stuff in our yard. All their kids flock here for the trampoline, basket ball hoop, and playground stuff. I remember hide and seek in the woods all summer long, no parent in sight. I wish my kids had that kind of freedom, but I guess we do need a little more caution in today's world!
Deletehi--i just found your blog today---super cute idea!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by :)
DeleteOh wow, this is a great idea! I'm thinking maybe for my two year old I could cut it a little bigger (maybe two sticks per piece) to make it a little easier for her to figure it out.
ReplyDeleteAnd LOL about telling the kids to go climb a tree - I grew up on a farm and that was exactly the kind of thing we were told to go do. If you complained you were bored mom found a chore for you to do...
I think the craft stores have those really big popsicle sticks. You know the ones like the doctors office has (tongue depressors?) Those would probably be great for a toddler!
DeleteMy kids know all too well that once "I'm bored" comes out of their mouths, it's up to their rooms to clean lol.
This is awesome! This would be great for my kid's ages as well :) I have to admit something...I've never used Mod Podge!! lol. I know, crazy right?? I really should, especially since I see all the cool things you've done with it!
ReplyDeleteOh my, you must get to the craft store and get yourself some STAT! Mod Podge is the best stuff ever invented :)
DeleteWhat a really neat idea! Visiting from Katherine's Corner Blog Hop.
