Allison loves dressing up her American Girl dolls. One of the first things I knew I wanted to make when I started to teach myself how to sew was more clothes for her dolls. Since this is October, the month for Halloween, I have been inspired to make her some Halloween costumes for her dolls. You already saw the Wonder Woman costume I made for her and her doll, but I couldn't just stop with that Superhero! She also got Bat Girl, Robin Girl and Spider Girl costumes to have a collection of crime fighting dolls.
I have also found that those little orange Halloween candy buckets make great trick or treat buckets for the American Girl dolls. I just need to whip out the polymer clay again for little treats to fill them with!
*I get a high volume of emails from readers asking if I sell these costumes. Unfortunately, I don't. However, there are many Etsy sellers who would happily replicate the costumes for you. Please feel free to send a copy of the photos to the Etsy doll dress maker retailer of your choice :)
Are you crafting anything cool for the Halloween holiday?
These are GREAT! The Batman one is my favorite! They're all really cute though!
ReplyDeleteThanks Rosey! I love the batman tutu the best!
DeleteHmmm I smell business here :) seriously I think you should market these cutie doll costumes..they are just perfectly awesome! (I wish I could sow..sigh..)
ReplyDeleteHey do you know that FB is going to charge a fee to Fan page owners? That is why we are getting lesser share rank...and they are also cleaning up the fake likes from the page. So despite your 'hate' on that page (*biggrinned*) how about join the hop over at CuteCoconut? :)))
Oh no Rina, I would never sell them. I get really frustrated with sewing lol. Plus it's much easier for me to make something I am inspired by, instead of at the request of someone else!
Deletelove the cute doll costums. the tu-tu's are the best part

Aren't tutus great? They look so cute on little girls, I thought why not dolls too?
DeleteCan you get me a copy of pattern... I a also would like to see back
DeleteHi Barbara,
DeleteSorry, I don't have a pattern. I just drew out my own pattern, eyeballing it from an American Girl shirt my girls already owned. The shirts just wrap around the back and are secured with strips of Velcro.
These are so adorable and unique!!! Your daughters have an awesome mom!
ReplyDeletehow fun!! the outfits are super!
ReplyDeleteSeriously Theresa!! Could you be any more fabulous?? These are AWESOME and they look so professionally made!! It looks like they were made for those dolls. I wish I could properly sew :( lol. I'm SO not that crafty!
ReplyDeleteThanks Brandi! There are a few flaws that thankfully you can't see though ;) I am still learning myself!
DeleteGasp! That is awesome!! My girls would really get a kick out of those! And I LOVE the idea of using those little treat buckets for the dolls! I'll have to get mine out for them!
ReplyDeleteIt was kind of an Aha moment when I saw them at the dollar store. It's great to find these kids of things that work for AG dolls since their stuff is quite pricey!
DeleteThese costumes are quite cool. I'm impressed!

Well done Theresa! These are seriously so pretty and I think you should maybe sell them! Your girls must be so happy!!
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
Those are awesome! Allison must be so happy about those costumes :))
ReplyDeleteWhat did you use as the top ?
ReplyDeleteHi Donna. I didn't use a pattern for any of the tops. I just kind of eyeballed the measurements and went from there. For the 3 (left to right) I used a satin type fabric. For the Wonder Woman, I used costume foil fabric. All the fabrics can be found at Joannes.
DeleteSorry, forgot to mention that for the designs (batman, spidey eyes, ect) I cut the shapes out of felt, then glued them on with fabric glue.
ReplyDeleteI love this idea! I think often times girls have been left out of the super hero world. Wish they were for sale!!! & would also love a Marvel line ;) Great job!
ReplyDeleteMarvel would be an excellent idea for the American Girl outfits! Thanks for stopping by with your lovely comment :)
