Our girls had been particularly trying on our patience and nerves then, so we hopped in her car and went out to lunch to blow off some steam and bounce ideas off each other on how best to handle them. It was a lovely few hours! As she pulled into my driveway I started to gather my things. She then turned to me and simply said- I Appreciate You.
I kind of sat there a little dumbfounded for a minute. That's not something I hear often, if at all. Sure, I hear I Love You all the time from family and friends. Don't get me wrong, I never tire of hearing that. But it made me think, how often do we tell others we Appreciate them? I know I am guilty of not saying that to others. We often overlook all of the little things others do for us. Their routines become expected, and those little things taken for granted. Mom's, I'm sure you know exactly what I'm talking about!
Those 3 words filled my heart with joy! It was so beautiful to hear, I have made a vow that I am going to let those in my life know that not only do I love them, I appreciate them too :)

True, many times we all just tae things for granted and never actually admit to appreciating the person. Something we all should do more.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh!! How sweet she sounds. I don't think I have ever said that to someone... although there are a lot of people in my life I truly appreciate!!
ReplyDeleteVery nice post Theresa!
How heartwarming :) it's so nice to hear words of appreciation. If each of us said that to one person every single day, think how much better the world would be...
ReplyDeleteAwwww that's so sweet!!! How thoughtful and I can only imagine how great it was to hear that. It's so true, people forget to show their appreciation or simply say they appreciate others. Small acts like that go a long way!!
ReplyDeleteFriends like that are total keepers. :)
ReplyDeleteOh those are wonderful words! I'm going to try and remember to use them myself!
ReplyDeleteYes, it is important that we not only appreciate our dear friends BUT we also tell them! A true friend reaches for your hand and touches your heart.

Oh how nice! Very rarely does anyone tell me that they appreciate me - it must have been so nice to hear.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet story! Girl time is definitely VERY important these days! I always try and devote time out of my week to spend with my closest girls. :)
ReplyDeleteHow sweet and you are right sometimes we just take things for granted. And I am sorry to not say this sooner enough but Theresa I really do appreciate you and our friendship although we are ocean apart and 12 hours time difference :)
ReplyDeleteI too think I'm going to put that on my list to do permanently. What a great thing to say to anyone for that fact. I'm ashamed to say I don't do that as often as I should. Thing I'll call my daughter. Thanks for sharing such an important appreciation moment.
