Theresa's Mixed Nuts: Team Gale

Team Gale

Allison has a small obsession with The Hunger Games. She hasn't read the books, but she has seen the first movie quite a few times. She received a Barbie sized Katniss doll for Christmas. Unfortunately they don't make the other characters in the large size, so she has kind of had to improvise with her other dolls.

"Which of my boy dolls looks most like Peeta?" she asked the other day.

I pointed out one and she seemed pretty pleased to have a Peeta look alike to play with. I figured she must be smitten with Peeta. That is until I came in the kitchen and saw her dolls set up like this:

doll, Peeta, death, kill, arrow, dead, movie

I guess she's Team Gale.

  1. Haha -at least she's imaginative!! I've never read the books or seen the movie, either, but I'm betting that when my boys get a little older, they'll want to read the books.

    1. I'm sure they will too. Especially since they'll drag the movies out over the next few years, those too small now will be old enough before it's all said and done.

  2. And to think, you pointed him out and sent the poor look a like to his deadly fate, oh the shame haha

  3. That's so funny. My son really wants to see Hunger Games (and would like to read the books together, too), but I don't think he's quite ready for it yet. I have all three books on my Kindle, and we have the first movie on Blu Ray. I told him we would consider letting him watch it this summer.

    1. I thought the movie was fine. It was definitely toned down from the books. My daughter is 9 and I don't think she'll be ready to read the books for a few more years yet.

    2. Yeah, I told Elliott we would reconsider the books when he was about ten. I think he will probably get to watch the movie this summer, though. You are right, it was toned down a lot more than I thought it would be. It's probably not any worse than some of his favorite movies (The Avengers, plus all the separate ones before, all the Spider Man movies, etc). I think I just shy away from it for him right now because it's not good vs bad guys, like in his super hero movies. And I'm worried he and his friends will act it out in school and get in trouble for "killing" each other. When they play super heroes they are only allowed to kill the invisible bad guys.

    1. I loved the books and the movie! Though, I rooted for Peeta all the way until the end, it was pretty funny she killed him off.

  8. Jennifer Lawrence is awesome. I saw her in Silver Linings Playbook last night, and I can definitely see why she has gottan an Oscar nomination out of it.

But it's fun to see how they make the dolls interact right.
