As I was coming home one night, I noticed that my neighbor was throwing out this old Step 2 motorcycle. "Ohhh! I need that! Stop the car!" I said to my husband as we drove past. Know what he said? "Ain't happening!" Oh, the horrors of the neighbors seeing me cart their trash home! He told me to go back when it was dark out. So, I did. And I brought this little gem home. It was roughed up and has definitely seen better days.
I knew that with a little TLC I could have this baby looking spiffy. By a little TLC, I mean a can of spray paint and a little vinyl cut out with my Silhouette Cameo. With a days worth of work (mostly paint drying time), the Bat-Cycle was born.
I knew I wanted to give it to my nephew, so I had to customize it a bit. His nickname is Brockie, so I found some Batman font and put "Brockie-Man" on the back.
He is officially the coolest kid on the block now.
As luck would have it, I found a really cool Little Tikes beetle type car last weekend in someone else's trash. I can't wait to start work on it, but I am still trying to think of the final look I want.
NO WAY! You are my hero right now. That is such a cool idea and you know he's gonna LOVE it.
ReplyDeleteLOL this is awesome on so so many levels
ReplyDeleteAwesome job on it, sure he'll love it.
ReplyDeleteOh wow Theresa! You certainly did an absolutely wonderful job! It looks so-o-o good! Your nephew is lucky to have such a creative and talented aunt! Thanks for becoming a Follower on Bloglovin'. I am already a Follower of you there. Have a great weekend.
ReplyDeletenow that's COOL
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome, great work on it, A trash stealer in the night you are...haha
ReplyDeletewow, thats such good idea Theresa!!!! My kids are not in that age group now, but I will remember this for future kids(not mine lol)
ReplyDeleteThis is adorable!!! Those would sell for a good deal more than the traditional red one too, I betcha'.
ReplyDeleteWe have that motorcycle (the red one). In fact, my son took it to the park yesterday, I guess he was recovering from his other one (similar type but too small) being 'donated' elsewhere. ;)
Looking forward to seeing what you do w/the car.
That is so cute! My son had a motorcycle like that, but I'm not sure what happened to it. It might still be in storage, or we might have given it to someone my husband works with. My son didn't really play with it too much. But he probably would have, if it would have been as cool as the Batman one!
ReplyDeleteTheresa!!! how cute that turned out. So funny your Hubs wouldn't stop the car. I picked up a round top for a table out of my neighbors junk and I will be posting about it when I finish it.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh I remember those days!
ReplyDeleteI can NOT believe what an amazing job you did on that. You are brilliant!
ReplyDeleteSweet! That's so fun!
ReplyDeleteSorry I haven't been commenting lately. I was on a week vacation! I just got back yesterday. I hate telling people online that I'll be gone.
Well look at you? That is a tremendous toy for your nephew. He will love you forevah!!! You did a great job on it. Ya and pooh-pooh on stopping to get it right then! Tell your HM to get over it, hahahahaha. Your comment about me and Michelle Obama having lunch was H.I.L.A.R.I.O.U.S !! It kept coming back to me all day yesterday. I have been slow in replying but Monday's post explains why. (hug)
ReplyDeleteNow I am back again to replay on the comment on the Daddy/Grandma post. Your Dad is 6'4"? Cool. In my family, the guys got the height and the gals got the shorter height like our Mom. I have always loved my height. Both of my dd's are taller than me. I'm 5'5" and my daughter are 5'9". They got my Dad's height. It skipped my generation. Their Dad is the tallest of his family at 6' even. So that had something to do with it. Thanks for the niceness of your sweet words (hug)
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! You're okay with the disguise as long as your neighbor doesn't read your blog.

WOOOOOOW! Good job Theresa! Are you sure your neighbor won't want to have it back now that it's all jazzed up?!! Can't wait to see the next one (the car)!
ReplyDeleteGreat job!
ReplyDeleteYou did a great job fixing it up! I've taken things from other people's trash if it's sitting on the curb and it's something I'll get use out of. No shame in my game!
ReplyDeleteThe great, I have a ride on toy for a girl and need one for a boy. Im gonna do this.
