We made up some Hollywood looking invites:
No famous guest can arrive without walking the red carpet:
I kind of kept with a movie theme, even though it was an invite for all sorts of "celebrity" people. We decorated the buffet in a theater type style, complete with candy, soda cups and goodie bags.
I am going to correct myself. It is not cool to have a "goodie bag" when you are a teenager. Calling it a "Swag Bag" worked though. Then I had the problem of figuring out what to put in a swag bag that would work for both boys and girls. I had the bright idea to pass out "Bling" to the guests. Since this was no P. Diddy party, I was working on a Mahoney budget, we settled for candy bling.
Ring Pops, Candy Necklace and Bracelets worked well for swag bag fillers. |
I found these tumblers at the $1 store. I used my Silhouette Cameo to cut out vinyl stars with each guest's name in the center. Another cheap party favor that the kids loved!
After playing party games, we finished with cupcakes. Mariah decided to pass on a birthday cake this year, and instead the kids had fun decorating their own cupcakes.
Overall, I think the party was a huge hit!
Have you thrown or gone to any themed parties this year?

ReplyDeletewow that looks like a great party.
ReplyDeleteI habe never thrown them but one party. i stay in a joint family and id like some stuff which eveyone may not like. So this year my boys turn 8 & Iam thinking of throwing them a great party.
what did your daughter dress up as.
I'd love to see your party pics when you throw one! Mariah was Hermione from Harry Potter. My younger daughter was Katniss from Hunger games.
DeleteGreat effort and fun! I laughed about you laughing about my Miss Shabby and her apple, too. I am still giggling. Yes, my little Baby Boy LL's birthday was mostly ydd's ideas but it was held at my home and I did a ton of the work. I love that we can be so creative these days; many more products and services available for our use.
ReplyDeleteHAVE A NICE WEEKEND. Feeling better?
wow you went all out, Bieber even came, ewww haha
ReplyDeleteYes, I like the decor of this beautiful festival, precious pictures!
ReplyDeleteOk this is just awesome!! And I really have to get (or win) one of those printers!
ReplyDeletegreat idea for the red carpet
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a really fun party! We had a pizza party at a local pizza place/arcade for Elliott this year, so I didn't have to get creative. Haha. I don't think that any of the parties he went to this year were really themed. Just about all of them were somewhere else, instead of at someone's house, so I guess you could see they were bowling, or swimming, etc themed. :)
ReplyDeleteLast year we had a Toy Story party, and did a lot of stuff to go with the theme. We made Toy Story invites and thank yous on the Cricut. We did Toy Story bingo, and pin the part on the Potato head (each child had a different part to put on a big blackout of Mr. Potato Head, we made that game with the cricut as well). They also each colored a piece of a big Toy Story puzzle, and then put it together for Elliott to keep. We also did picture frames with Toy Story stickers, and then put a picture of each child with Elliott in it for them to take home. The goody bags included Toy Story pencils, pencil sharpeners, erasers and stampers, along with a little bit of candy. We made a pinata of the octopus from the third movie. My sister made a Buzz Lightyear cake, plus Mr. Pricklepants and Alien cupcakes. It was A LOT of work, so that's why we decided on a party at a place where they served us food instead, and the games were all taken care of. Haha.
Happy birthday to Mariah!! That sounds like an awesome party. I need to get on the ball and start doing themed parties for my kids.
ReplyDeleteI love that you had a birthday party theme like this, that's is fun for a teen!! Loved it! Happy Birthday to your daughter (and the red carpet rocks!!).

ReplyDeleteMariah certainly had a cool party Theresa! You did a great job with the decorations etc. I am glad everything went well.
ReplyDeleteWow, love this. Just got asked to do a hollywood theme. Where did you find those invites? All is so awesome.
ReplyDeleteHi Vikki,
DeleteI believe that those invites came off the Silhouette Design Store. They may have discontinued it by now, but I am sure you could find something similar with a quick Google Image search.
Hope you have a wonderful party!
Theresa :)
