Last week I saw a banner on the side of the road that caught my eye. In big print it read "Falloween!" Anything that has to do with Fall and Halloween is definitely going to grab my attention. Combine the two and I'm pretty much hooked. From what I could gather from the banner, a local high school was going to put on a fun fest type of deal that weekend, so on Saturday we headed over to see what they had to offer. As we pulled up, I felt DUPED!
Yeah, that's a carnival/fair kind of thing going on there. Some of you know that I am not fond of these kind of things. But it was a nice day out and we did drive quite a bit to get there, so we stayed. I am glad we did because this was NOTHING like the county fair. Parking was free, entrance was free, and most of the stuff was beyond cheap! Local farmers were there selling food. I loaded up on green peppers for 25¢ each! Wristbands were $20 each to ride the rides, which was about fair price, but with how cheap everything else was, who could complain?
Ok, I do have a tiny complaint. If I am paying $1.25 for a fried Oreo, I better be buying the Oreo that was advertised. Not the knockoff Kroger brand.
Who am I kidding? It was a cookie, it was cream filled, and it was fried. It was delicious :)
Does your school put on carnivals or fun fairs?
Oh you must have been pissed. You just posted about that carnival food place last week and how much you hate carnivals. They totally tricked you LOL, but at least the girls had fun!
ReplyDeleteYeah, I had a WTF!? moment as we pulled up lol. I don't think Allison would have let us leave after seeing it. It was her first carnival visit, so I am glad we got that out of the way :)
DeleteThankfully everyone had fun...but you may have gotten duped on the Oreo :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely duped, but I guess after they are fried, you can't tell the difference :)
Deleteour theme park Carowinds goes by the name Scarowinds in october
ReplyDeleteThat's a clever play on the name!
DeleteHmm think you got screwed over with the Oreo, but Halloween crazies are easy to see coming hahahaha had to. Looks like a fun time though
ReplyDeleteYes, I may have heard about the Halloween Crazies ;)
DeleteI used to have a love/hate relationship w/those slides (as a girl). I rode them but always got scared at the top, lol. My little one does the same thing, he gets 'butterflies' but he wants to ride. :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome that most things were free, and I'd be stocking up on green peppers at that price too!
I know what you mean Rosey! It is a long way down, but once you get going, weeeee! It's so much fun!
DeleteI agree that fall and Halloween - you can't go wrong. That sure looks fun! It reminds me of alpine slides.
ReplyDeleteOh I am glad you had a nice time.
ReplyDeleteRead my "About"? I don't do Oreos in any size, style of shape = grosssss! I can honestly say I haven't had an Oreo since 1973 !!seriously!! I know it was then BECAUSE I was at my sister's apt in SLC and she lived there from 1973-1974. And it was the first Summer she lived there. We and her roommates had a package and we were downing them in groups of three at once and I realized they were DISGUSTING. (email me for exact reasons)
There, there's my Review of Oreo Cookies or their knock-offs. LOL
Oh 'GREASE' is one of my all time fav movies/plays. I guess I will take that as SUPER COOOOOOL!
That's how I am with Pop Tarts! My family eats them like they are going out of style, but those things are just NASTY to me!
DeleteYes, you take Grease as being Super Cool! That's how I meant it ;)
Very beautiful and fun photos of Falloween!
ReplyDeleteI think you really did deserve a fried OREO not an imposter! Sorry it wasn't exactly what you expected but I'm glad you at least had fun!
ReplyDeleteI was waiting to hear how the fried Oreo was. I'm glad it was delicious. That was $1.25 VERY well spent. Glad you had a fun time at Falloween.
ReplyDeletexoRobyn
fried cookies? What the what? Next thing I'll hear from you Americans is bacon ice cream or chocolate :PP
ReplyDeleteWell they sure did hoodwink you to get you there. Looks like the girls had a great time.
ReplyDeleteFalloween! That is cool! I am glad you all had a good time Theresa! Wonderful pictures.
ReplyDeleteAs much as I hate crowds, I think I would have been climbing over everyone to get those peppers. I just paid $4.69 for 3 peppers, one red, one green and one yellow....I was desperate. Looks like you had an awesome time, and enjoyed some great food!!!
ReplyDeleteKaren, something tells me you could probably grow even better green peppers than the ones I got ;)
DeleteThey get you every time at those places with the food
ReplyDeleteYes our schools do and they are much more reasonable then the ones that are out and around. Glad you had fun.
ReplyDeletefried oreos??? I never had those before! haha.. the rides look pretty decent and rather surprised that it's just organised by a school, and not by a bigger organisation :)
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
Glad it turned out to be fun! Who can beat .25 cent green peppers!! What a deal! LOVE that parking and admission was FREE. That is one of my biggest peeves when going to places....when they charge for parking and to get in. Fried oreos.....MMMMM. I'm intrigued!! LOL
ReplyDeleteha ha ha..Falloween is surely a cute tagline. What an idea! agree on the oreo..but I am interested to find out more about this fried oreos, really!
ReplyDeleteFried Oreo???? Hmm, sounds like it could be pretty yummy. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun day! I also hate carnivals, my husband hates that I start complaining to go after an hour, hahah.
i love fair and carnival food---looks like a splendid time :)
