For those who aren't familiar with The Hunger Games. (photo source- squidoo.com) |
Parents, show of hands. Who's kids still haven't decided what they want to be for Halloween? Allison has already changed her mind 500 times, and I suspect it will get changed 500 more before the big day. I'm sooo tired of the princess costumes my girls pick year after year, so I've been trying to get her to pick a more kick ass female costume, like the Katniss one she put together for her sisters celebrity birthday party a few months back. What's better than a home made costume? Especially one that only cost $7 to put together, all thanks to Goodwill! Who am I kidding? I'd pay whatever it takes for her to NOT chose a princess again this year!
Haha I love it! "And may the odds be ever in your favor"
ReplyDeleteOh I am so done with those Princess ones too. My granddaughters have all those princess ones, too but only the youngest one does those because she hasn't done them yet. I LOVE THIS COSTUME!!! And I love the $7 price, too. The Savers here is known for awesome costumes, too. They ship in a huge selection of Halloween items, plus their regular things. Last year my ydd got a large 'Snuggie' for $3 for her husbands Caveman costume. (it had leopard print on it) and this year she found some large overalls for $2 for her Wizard of Oz Scarecrow costume!!! I'm on a hunt for a green curly wig for my Witch Costume again. My short hair isn't very 'witchy' looking this year! hahahaha
ReplyDeleteI just picked up wigs at Goodwills 1/2 price day Saturday for only $1 each. Those suckers are expensive in the stores! Fingers crossed you find some cheap wigs too!
DeleteHomemade costumes are the best, aren't they? That's a very clever costume idea!
ReplyDeleteThere are so many options, but Im sure they will get decided before they go to parties or Trick or Treating.
ReplyDeleteLove the costume and the pose in the first one ;--) heheh!
ReplyDeleteHave a robinhoodtastic week
I hear ya on the no princess, my girls AWAYS want to be princesses! Great costume!
ReplyDeleteLOVE It! I loved the books and can't wait for the next movie...awesome costume!
ReplyDeleteLOL well there you go, make the 7 dollar homemade one, then just pay her some money and I'm sure you could get her to wear whatever you want.
ReplyDeleteKatniss is one cool character for dress-up. I am still thinking what to dress my 1 year old this year - her first halloween!
ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome costume!! I know how you feel, my daughter wants to be a fairy princess like every year, lol.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she'll be a future archery star as well :)
ReplyDeleteHari OM
ReplyDeleteHAH - my mother had the opposite trouble with me - I always wanted to be the Native Chief or the Big Game Hunter - she'd have given anything for me to ask for the princess dress!!! &*>
Yes, that nice, for me are the arrows of cupid!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos! I love The Hunger Games! I've read all the books and I can't wait for the second one to be released over here next month! x
ReplyDeleteReal cute! Lovely shots Theresa. I think she should choose Katniss!:) Thanks for hosting.
ReplyDeleteMy fiance Daisy wanted to be Katniss last year and the jacket they sold at the halloween store was 50 had such cheap material. So needless to say, she was something else last year.
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Love it...that would be definitely cool if she chose that for her costume. Girls are so indecisive ;) lol. Whatever she chooses, I'm sure she'll look great!
ReplyDeleteIf I showed this to Mica he'd be in love with your daughter. HA HA! He loves archery, and to him girls never had cooties.
ReplyDeleteNice outfit. I personally refuse to write about that movie over at HOLLYWOOD SPY because I do not support films which put kids and teens in violent situations or which show them as assassins.
ReplyDeleteI think that is great you are taking a stance on something you really believe in. It took me a while to pick up the books because of that reason, but when the kids in my family started reading it, I figured I better give it a go to see what the fuss was all about. I was surprised to find that even with the horrific content of the book, I still ended up loving it.
DeleteShe looks great in it! My son is going as a knight, though he TRIES to change his mind over and over. We did buy him a sword to go with it at the Halloween store, a 'good guy' sword. Now he's ready to kick some bad guy butt (though I did tell him he can't take the sword to school ;)).
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen The Hunger Games. I'm scared it will be sad and I don't want to cry (don't judge me, we're blogging buddies). :)
No judging Rosey! It does have some sad parts, and there were grown women crying in the theater. Mariah cried through some of it too!
DeleteWOW! She looks fantastic! <3
ReplyDeleteThat costume is stellar! My son hasn't even thought about a costume yet. Not sure if he's going to want to go this year. He might be growing out of it. =(
ReplyDeleteI haven't asked my kids what they plan to be for Halloween, but it doesn't matter because I'm not paying for costumes, anyway. However, I hope they aren't anything obscene. You know, like the son dressing like a mammogram machine with a sign saying, "Insert Breast Here" or the daughter not wearing enough.

Hahaha! Joyce! I could totally see it though. Your kids have a wicked sense of humor, just like their mother ;)
DeleteSweet pics of your daughter..... don't have to worry anymore about costumes..... just pass out treats!!lol
ReplyDeleteThat's a fantastic costume!! I can't wait for the next Hunger Games movie to come out ahhhhhhh!

Katniss is a kick ass girl/woman!! I would've wanted to be her when I was younger. I feel your pain I have an 8 year old boy and I am so sick of him wanting to be super hero's every year. I mean they are cool and what not, but get creative! We can come up with all kinds of ideas! I convinced him to be a pirate this year since he's into Jack Sparrow. Although I could've went to GoodWill and probably come up with a similar costume, I just bought one from walmart but I plan on jazzing it up a bit :). She makes an awesome Katniss!
ReplyDeleteI get it - gosh she looks lust like the gal from that movie! lol sandie
ReplyDeleteI've had my daughter set on being a Doctor Who Weeping Angel ever since I showed her the cosplay picks of people dressed as them. I still need to dye her angel robes gray and then on the day of there will be lots of face paint and a wig so she looks like a statue, but I'm hoping it will be worth the work.
ReplyDeleteThat's a really cute costume. We don't have Halloween here, so we don't have that problem. Thanks for linking and leaving a comment on Amanda's Books and More!
ReplyDeleteI think its hilarious that you don't want any more princesses. I have been so sick of the whole Disney Princess onslaught for the past many years. Sometimes homemade costumes are the best and most memorable of all anyway.
ReplyDeleteMuch better than just another princess
ReplyDeleteshe is too cute! POSH
ReplyDeleteYeah, the princess costume is nauseating, way overdone. I hope you'll be able to successfully keep your girls from defaulting to it. Those photos are adorable.
ReplyDeletePS I'll be putting your name (in honor of your grandma) in my drawing. If that's not ok by you, please let me know. Thank you, Theresa.

She looks great! ;)
ReplyDeleteHahhahaha... really great costume. I love there are no mask to hide the face.
ReplyDeleteI think the Katniss costume would be great for Halloween.
