Yesterday I shared with you the window displays of A Christmas Story at the visitor's center in Hammond, Indiana. Today is all about Santa's Mountain. Remember when Santa kicks Ralphie down the slide in the movie, telling him "You'll shoot your eye out?" They had their very own Santa's Mountain set up right there in the visitors center! For $5 you could climb up and have your photo taken with Santa. And if you tell him you want a Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas, he'll say "No! You'll shoot your eye out kid!"
You could even ride the slide down. Minus the boot in the face, though I would have paid extra for that! ;)
As one more little treat, there was A Christmas Story flagpole outside the center. I couldn't leave without a photo opp!
We had such a blast at the A Christmas Story set up, I can't wait to go back next year to participate in the other themed activities we missed this year!
Fess up! Have you ever stuck your tongue to a frozen pole?
Did I mention how jealous I am?? I am not joking, this is one of the awesomest places in the United States and I am going to make it my mission to get there some day!
ReplyDeleteJudging from most of the pics you've posted over the time, I'm guessing your hubs is the type of man you can't talk into taking his cap of ever :)
ReplyDeleteI have not, nope, nuh uh, no way. :) I'd do the photo op though, lolol
ReplyDeleteThat looks SO fun! I would love to visit somewhere like that, since it's my fav Christmas movie :) I love that they re-enacted the Santa Mountain scene!
ReplyDeleteYuck, waaay too many germs on a frozen pole, never ever. More for a boot to the face, how much more? lol
ReplyDeleteLooks super fun. Puts me in the Christmas spirit all over again!!!
ReplyDeleteNo I have never stuck my tongue on something freezing! Well maybe an ice cube. LOL Do you live in Hammond - I know right where that is. Looked like you had fun.
ReplyDeleteCool santa mountain, though it seems like they should have made the slide a little bit bigger
ReplyDeletewhat a fun Christmas outing!!
ReplyDeleteWas the pole tasty
ReplyDeleteNo I have NOT stuck my tongue to a frozen pole, but I have got my wet fingers stuck in an old freezer and had to have warm water poured on them. The scene with the flagpole always makes me cringe! eeewh!
ReplyDeleteI love how you wrote this post! You are so fun. The only thing that was amiss in the Santa Mountain was a large bin of fluff at the bottom. Someone missed that point. lol
hahahaha, I just saw your comment and I do admit I 'must' drop the 'hint'. What I usually do is give him three options to pick from and then he decides. I wanted a ring or some earrings or the necklace. He chose the necklace. I thought he would choose the earrings so I was surprised.
DeleteYes! I was thinking the exact same thing about the foam pit at the end of the slide! Would have made it that much more authentic, I think!
DeleteI've never seen that movie.

ReplyDeleteVery funny pictures, thank you for your smiles!

ReplyDeleteNo, I never stuck my tongue to a frozen pole!! Smart Santa to tell the kids that!! That does look like a really fun place to go and you all looked to have had a marvelous time!
ReplyDeleteI have idea what this is or who those characters are. But it does look like a lot of fun!
ReplyDeleteI think I have when I was younger. I know I have on a popsicle!
ReplyDeleteI still think that place is so neat! And no, living in Florida, I don't even think I've ever had the opportunity to stick my tongue to a frozen pole LOL
ReplyDeleteThat looks like so much fun! I've never heard of this place but it seems like a great place to let loose and get into the Christmas spirit.
ReplyDeletethe tongue stuck to pole is such a classic scene in that movie and i bet kids still do it
ReplyDeletelovely time you got there...Christmas is indeed special for everyone...btw, that tongue-stuck-in-the-frozen-pole pict makes me remember our days in GE :D
ReplyDeleteHow fun! We're originally from the Midwest. I am going to have to stop here next time we drive back to visit during the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI think I remember the last pic, was it on instagram?? Sounds so much fun there :D
ReplyDeleteHahahaha.... I have heard horror stories of people sticking one of their body parts on on metal in our cold winters. Not me!!! Ouch... that would really hurt.
