We started with story time. Now, this did not hold her interest because she would rather read herself instead of being read to.
But the rest of the event was A OK with her! Everyone was asked to bring in their favorite teddy bear, and there were place setting for everyone to have their own tea party with their stuffed bear. The tables were set up with snacks, which consisted of Teddy Grahams, Gummy Bears, Fruit Roll Ups, and "Tea".
The tea was really juice. They thought kids would like the juice better, but Allison would have much preferred the tea. She was pacified when she realized we were the only two sitting at our table and had a free for all on the snacks.
The final activity was crafting. The kids all got to make 2 crafts. A paper bag bear puppet and a bear mask.
Even though it turned out she was the oldest kid there, it didn't phase her one bit. She kept gushing about all the fun she was having throughout the whole party. Yay for another successful free library event!
Have you ever been to a tea party?
Love! I have done a teddy bear sleepover and a teddy bear picnic but never a tea party. I am so borrowoing this for the spring!
ReplyDeleteA cute idea. My daugher had a pillow pet sleepover once. Worked out well, everyone had their own pillows by default!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a cute idea. I love the thought of celebrating the stuffed animals of children since they mean so much to them.
ReplyDeleteI think you have the best library ever. Our local library does NOTHING like this.. Allison is growing up fast, so nice that she still enjoys things like this.
ReplyDeleteEverything to yourselves, treats by the ton. Glad she had a fun time after the read.
ReplyDeleteI think it's sad when they are the oldest. Often times Isaak's the age of many, but Mica is the oldest. Everyone likes to read, come on kids regardless of your age get involved.
ReplyDeleteThat would really have been such a fun thing to attend. I love the things libraries put together for their patrons!
ReplyDeleteWhile not endorsed by my library, one of the branches used to have a lot of tea parties. Except this tea party is a bunch of old white people displaying forms of racism, mental delusion, and whatever right-wing radio is making them echo.
ReplyDeleteI prefer the one with the cute bears myself.
on a side note I've never liked the beverage tea myself. We went on a field trip to Pizza Inn (great idea there South Carolina schools) in kindergarten or first grade and they didn't serve us soda but rather tea. I guess they did that as a healthy move, but for years I thought that was the only drink the place served. Not a great idea for the restaurant in the long run, imagine me going to my mom "yeah can we go to that place that serves only the drink I hate".
Hurrah for free, awesome library events. We haven't been for awhile (too much snow!) and we're overdue. I'm going to check the schedule and see what's going on.
ReplyDeleteYou have such a cool library. I would've loved to be the oldest "kid" there (at age 47).

Yes, it's funny that party the bear!
ReplyDeleteI am seriously jealous of your library. Ours had a couple of programs over vacation week last week, but space is limited and I didn't even bother because I know they fill up FAST. This looks like such a cute event and she totally looks like she was having some serious fun!
ReplyDeletenever been to one but I do adore me tea! And I had a fave teddy bear when me was a little coon a century or so ago....
ReplyDeleteThats really great thing to do and glad your daughter enjoyed herself,i wish they did something like that here.my younger daughter does her own teddy tea parties lol.

ReplyDeleteOh, what a fun twist on a tea party! I was thinking about having a teddy bear party for my daughters second birthday and if I do, I will definitely have to use some of these ideas.
ReplyDeleteI can totally see my daughter loving this! She likes to use her minnie mouse tea party set to have parties with her stuffed animals.
ReplyDeleteThat is great that they do this kind of thing. I need to find our local libraries and see what programs they have. Glad she had a good time and was not bothered by being the oldest.
ReplyDeleteThis is so cool! I'm going to check out my local libraries website to see if they have such activities. I know they have the usual reading to kids but never been to anything as fun as a teddy bear tea party!!
ReplyDeleteThis looks really fun! Our local library has activities like this from time to time. My kids loved them when they were younger.

ReplyDeleteThat is an awesome tea party! Seriously so much fun! My daughter would love to have a "puppy" tea party with her stuffed puppy. lol.

ReplyDeleteHow fun is that? I suppose you could do this with stuffed cats as well.
ReplyDeleteWhat a cool activity I remember going on teddy bear picnics as a kid it was always such fun :) x
ReplyDeleteThis is a cute! Our library does a stuffed animal sleepover that I think is similar. I need to sign the boys up… I love the library programs.
ReplyDeleteI've never been to a tea party like that, but I have been to high tea at the Drake in Chicago and love it. Probably not as good as actual high tea in England but still yummy.
I wish our library would do more events. Looks like it was super fun!

ReplyDeleteThis looks like it was a lot of fun!! Who cares if your daughter was the oldest! I'm so glad she had a great time. All girls should get to experience things like this!
ReplyDeleteLooks like a fun event for kids. As long as your daughter had a good time, that's all that matters.
