JP Wedding #TBT
Jason and I just celebrated our 11 year wedding anniversary on Monday, so I thought I'd do a Throwback Thursday of one of our wedding pics. I might have shared this story before, but here's a repeat for the older followers. Nothing about our wedding was traditional. It was spur of the moment, resulting from me calling Jason at work saying "Hey, the Justice of the Peace can marry us today." A few hours later, with only our mothers and my grandma in attendance, we were officially married. I was a few months pregnant with Allison at the time, and already going deathly pale, haha! While it wasn't the big, splashy wedding my entire family had envisioned for us, if I had to do it all over again, I wouldn't have changed a thing :)
Are you the more traditional wedding type, or would you do a quickie wedding too?
I absolutely LOVE non traditional weddings. I got married in Vegas, so I am all about doing things that are a little out of the ordinary!
ReplyDeleteMine and Daisy's will be more planned, but it won't be one of those glorified dream weddings that those bridezilla women want. We're not even going to have much of a reception either.
ReplyDeleteI think that suits you Adam. You and Daisy seem very low key, so I think it will turn out perfect for you :)
DeleteOooh, you looked like the Empress of China back in those days :) You were beautiful then, but you do look even better now!
ReplyDeleteHa, I was in the beginning stages of feeling like crud, and got the pregnancy bloat, I mean glow going on lol. But thank you Dez :)
Deleteso you never really had a wedding gown?
DeleteNope. I have never been in a fancy dress. I didn't go to prom and didn't have a fancy wedding. I did wear a bridesmaid dress 10 years ago, but you know how the bride likes to outshine everyone else, so you can imagine how un-cute the dress was. $150 I paid for it and it went straight to donation the day after the wedding lol. I think that is the only thing I really missed about having a big wedding- not wearing a pretty dress.
Deletewe need to take you to the Oscars one day :)))
DeleteThen I went traditional. Although I got a very nice dress for cheap! I went to the Asian part of Atlanta, GA to get sized for a dress. I was going to be in a friend's wedding. Anyhow the lady couldn't speak English. She kept making me try on wedding dresses. I went with it. The dress was $140. It was cheaper than our grocery bill. Our grocery bill was high that month due to just moving in to a new apartment. The dress had pearls going all down the back. It was pretty.
ReplyDeleteNow I'd do something quick. I'm not the type that is showoffy, which I know isn't a word. HA HA
You got a steal on the dress! I paid more for that on my bridesmaid dress when I was in a wedding a few years back!
DeleteThat was the way to go indeed, no muss no fuss no spending thousands either.
ReplyDeleteSpur of the moment and perfect for you
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on your 11th anniversary! Big splashy weddings are a thing of the past and a waste of good money that you could otherwise spend on exotic - or not - getaways.
ReplyDeleteI agree! We used the money we saved on a down payment for a house. I know many people who had big wedding that cost thousands of dollars. Years later, they are still renting, but we own our home. Money well saved, I think!
DeleteNeither one of you looks the same at all!! But you both look cute (then and now). :)
ReplyDeleteWe did non-traditional JOP too. And I'm still glad we did.
Happy Anniversary to you!!
The size of your wedding doesn't determine how blissful the marriage can be, I've friends who had the most lavish of weddings but still ended up divorced.
ReplyDeleteHappy belated Anniversary to you and your hubby! Wishing you both many more years of marital bliss!
Ai @ Sakura Haruka
That is awesome! You both look fantastic then and now! Congratulations on eleven successful years and heres to eleven infinity more my friend!! Cheers!
ReplyDeleteHappy Anniversary!

We had a church wedding, because that was important to both of us. But it was small and didn't cost much. We didn't have to pay for the church, my brother married us (he is the pastor at the church we used anyway) as part of our wedding gift. We had a very small reception, and my mom and aunt did most of the flowers and decorations, and my aunt even paid for almost all of them as part of her wedding gift to us as well. My mom made my dress (she used to sew a lot and is really good at it) and my sister's maid of honor dress. My other bridesmaid ended up finding a dress on clearance at David's Bridal that worked great, and then my mom did the alterations on it.
ReplyDeleteYou look so young in that picture and you don't look pregnant. When my Daughter got married she was huge...
