KitchenMade Stainless Steel Measuring Cups & Blueberry Buckle Recipe #measuringcups

When we first started buying things for our home, we were stuck in the mindset of price winning out over quality. We bought from the lowest price options, but are finding that over the years we are spending more replacing cheaply made items that have broken or quickly worn out.

As one who loves to spend a lot of time in the kitchen, I have come to realize that high quality kitchen utensils are a must for any cook/baker. My first few sets of measuring cups were made from plastic. I found that the handles would snap off, sometimes cracks would go through the cups, or the painted on numbers would gradually fade over time, making it difficult to see what the size of the cups were. I finally ended up buying a set of metal measuring cups, and saw this is what I should have bought from the beginning. And since I bake so much, having more than one set is a must for me, and KitchenMade Stainless Steel Measuring Cups are a staple in my every day food prep.

stainless steel measuring cups

KitchenMade stainless steel measuring cups come in 6 cup sizes- 1/4, 1/3, 1/2, 2/3, 3/4, and 1 full cup. They are designed to nest easily together, so they don't take up very much room in storage. The groove through the handle makes gripping easy and comfortable. Each cup has a pouring lip, so they can be used to measure both liquids and solids (both in cups and ml). But what I loved best about the measuring cups is the engraved numbers and letters on the handles!

Since they are engraved, I can be confident that I will never have to guess which measuring cup size I am using, unlike my old measuring cups that had the paint wear off.

The KitchenMade measuring cups are made from stainless steel, so they are durable, and crafted into one piece, so you can be sure the handles will never snap off. They are dishwasher safe, which makes cleaning a breeze. They will not bend or rust, and are FDA approved.

Since blueberries are in season, I just used these measuring cups this weekend to make my family a delicious blueberry buckle.

blueberry cake

Ingredients:

1/4 cup butter, softened
3/4 cup sugar
1 egg
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup milk
2 cups fresh blueberries

Topping:

2/3 cup sugar
1/2 cup all purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/3 cup cold butter, cubed

Directions:

In a small bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in egg. Combine the flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture, alternating with the milk, beating well after each addition. Fold in blueberries. Pour into a greased 9 inch baking pan.

Make the topping- In a small bowl, combine the sugar, flour and cinnamon. Use a fork or pasty cutter to cut in butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the blueberry mixture.

Bake at 375 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

Let cool for 20 minutes. Serve.

  3. Oh yeah, the crappy cheap stuff doesn't last very long. That's how they can sell it so cheap, as it is crap.

    1. Don't you just love blueberries Dezzy? I bought a TON of them last week and have been snacking on them non-stop. I am surprised I haven't turned blue yet!

    2. we don't even have them in my city. Serbia (the southern part) is one of world's top producers of berries, but all goes to export so we never see them at our markets. And they're dreadfully expensive even in juice.

  5. That looks yummy!!! I want to try this, but I may butcher it. Since I'm trying to be gluten free and all. I'd have to see if Costco's all purpose gluten free flour would work, I'd try almond milk instead of cows, coconut oil instead of butter, and use June Berries since I have so many of them. See why I may butcher it? This is what I do with almost every recipe now. Lame on my part! It looks so good!

The measuring cups look handy. It seems like you can't ever have too many of those things. That and measuring spoons.

  18. This is a lesson only we can learn ourselves. Many times have I bought a cheaper item that only cost me more in the long run. I try to give myself the gift of buying the better item from the get go, and sometimes I succeed! Live and learn!
