I have been a longtime fan of Terry's blog My Journey with Candida. For the past few years I have been fascinated with the detox cleanses she does, and I have learned quite a bit from her. But, as one who struggled for years to get my ulcerative colitis under control, I was terrified of doing any cleanse because I though it would throw me out of remission. But, a few months ago she had up symptoms of parasites in the body. I had almost every symptom! The one that bothered me most was the fatigue. I feel like I need a nap several times a day, and carry dark circles under my eyes constantly. Since we are taking a family trip in October, I really wanted to get these issues under control before we left. I did a little more research, and ended up buying the ingredients needed to start an 18 day parasite cleanse.
I bought all 3 products on iherb.com for a total of $21 shipped (I had a $5 coupon code that was applied to the order.) I printed out a handy dosage chart from drclark.net. You can find the chart HERE. Scroll down a bit to access it. It took about 2 days for my product to arrive, and once it did, I got started.
Here were my results:
Day 1 through 3: I notice a little grinding in my belly, but it isn't uncomfortable. I am also burping up the herbs all day. They don't taste bad, but it is annoying.
Day 4: A migraine starts kicking in. Terry tells me this is good as it indicates the parasites are dying off.
Day 7: The migraine is still going strong. I debate quitting the entire cleanse altogether to get some relief.
Day 8: The migraine is gone. My energy levels have significantly improved.
Day 12: I still haven't seen any parasites exit my body, though Terry says some people don't. You have to go "in" and dig them out. Not happening here!
Day 18: I am happy to have made it to the end of the cleanse. I have more energy than I have had in years, and I was thrilled the cleanse did not cause any bleeding or cramping, so it's safe to say, it did not throw me out of remission.
I never did see any parasites, but I think the cleanse did exactly what it was supposed to do. My husband also noticed I had more energy and wanted to drive to Terry's to give her a big hug for her influence on me starting the parasite cleanse. The only thing I would do differently is see if the black walnut comes in capsule form. The liquid was nasty, and I had to choke it down as the dosage increased.
Have you done any cleanses? What were your results?
I would LOVE to do this, but the word migraine scares me. I have most of the symptoms, too, but I don't want to be down and out with a migraine, you know?
ReplyDeleteIf I would have known how bad the migraines were, I would have been tempted not to even start the cleanse. It sucks being down for days when they hit!
Deletebut but but... I couldn't possibly do that to me sweet lil' parasites.....
ReplyDeleteI think it's better to get them sweet lil parasites before they get you ;)
DeleteDone worm cleanses every 3 months for the last 2 years and yeah the black walnut and wormwood taste awful in liquid form. Everyone has them and yet people think they can't get them. I never saw any parasites when I did the cleanse, but I amped it up a bit and went and got a peroxide IV. Let's just say what I saw after that made me want to bleach myself.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of a peroxide IV. Going to have to go Google that now!
DeleteHahahaha... Pat... you and I go way back when it comes to worms. I am so happy you found your problem. Manzi and I kept telling you it was worms causing your problem. Finally... you got some of those suckers.
DeleteDo that and you will clear yourself out of everything and I mean everything, nasty as can be, blech. Of course you have to find someone near you that does them. That and ozone up a certain place killed many of the suckers for me.
DeleteI thought of Terry as soon as I saw your title. I've done one cleanse, but it was a mild tea cleanse. You were brave to get through the huge migraine spell ( I hate those things!). I'm glad it increased your energy!
ReplyDeleteI remember reading about your cleanse. And Alissa's too. It seems all my bloggy friends were jumping doing cleanses this past year, I was feeling a bit left out ;)
DeleteI need to start a new one. I was scared to do one at first. I was thinking, "This looks odd. What is my body going to do?" I have to tell you I felt so good after I did it. We de-worm our dogs, but don't do anything to clean our own bodies out. Most detoxes have tree serums, and herbs in them. It's not like you are putting poison in your body.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing that was hard for me when doing them was waking up an hour before to take it before breakfast.
It helped me to loose weight. I swear my allergies were better during and right after taking it. At the start they were worse. I think it's because I was releasing toxins.
I was freaking out about starting one. I read on some site a guy had a worm come out of his eye! His EYE! I also read that some people experience a crawling sensation on their skin a few days into the cleanse. Thankfully, I didn't get those symptoms!
DeleteTheresa,... I had a worm come out of my eye before. It was dead. If you have twitching in your eyes.. could be worms
DeleteOMG - I have thought of doing a cleanse, but like you were afraid. I AM afraid. I can't imagine being down and out with a migraine for days - I get the slightest headache and I am popping Advil. I think my energy levels are ok now. How do I know if I need a cleanse? Does everyone need one? I don't know.....but I guess if I were to do one, I would most likely try the concoction that you tried here. :)
ReplyDeleteKristi, I linked to Terry's cleanse post that she has the all symptoms listed on. If you want to check it out, just click on the My Journey With Candida link in the first sentence here. It is said that over 80% of Americans have parasites. We take precautions to de-worm our pets, but not many de-worm their own bodies. While some of the parasites come in through our food, they can also enter the body simply by walking around barefoot outside! It's just crazy!
DeleteI have never done a cleanse like this one before.. i think if i saw parasites it would freak me out..
ReplyDeleteI read Terry's blog occasionally, but didn't catch this one! Holy Moly! I have probably half the symptoms on the list... How did you know which herbs to get? I read through her comments and saw that some people did pills...wonder where you can get those?
ReplyDeleteI actually started researching all the cleanses other people were doing on Google. This one seemed to be a very popular one involving the 3 herbs, as well as the most cost effective. When you go to Amazon or iherb.com and type in just one of the products, the other 2 immediately pop up as suggestions for what you would probably like to buy as well. I am not sure about the pills, but when I do another cleanse in 6 months, I am going to look for them!
DeleteThat sounds like a lot to go through. I have an agreement with my parasites, they don't bother me and I won't bother them. ;)
ReplyDeleteHahaha! This made me LOL. That's quite the agreement you made with the parasites ;)
Deletenever tried it
ReplyDeleteI may have to try something like this, I know my body probably has years of crap inside that needs a good cleansing. Thanks for sharing your experience.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried it either.....I am definitely intrigued!
ReplyDeleteI have never tried a cleanse and hope I never need one. I do read Terry's blog and love it. I am happy that this worked for you with no bad effects.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for including me in your post Theresa. I am happy to hear that this has helped you. You know... there are other cleanses that might help you too. I do a lot of whole body and or liver cleanses.
ReplyDeleteYour symptoms might come back and you will need to keep cleansing to stay well. But..... only do a parasite cleanse with those herbs in it every 90 days. You don't want the parasites to become immune to the herbs.
More people should be doing it
ReplyDeleteVery intriguing. I've never done a cleanse. Sounds like a "feels a little worse before it gets better" experience for sure ... we have those with energy healing too.
ReplyDeleteI have never tried a cleanse but I have done a detox. This sounds interesting.
ReplyDeleteI try to cleanse out my system everyday, sometimes I get lazy, but because the results are quite positive and helpful for other sickness, I do try to keep it up. Glad the stuff agrees with you, sounds like a lot of work though.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I'm taking right now the one on the right, the NOW brand. I'm at my first bottle, day 4 (started taking it 3x half dropper full). Hope it helps, but we'll see.
ReplyDeletei have never done any cleanses. I think I would 'kill' everyone lol.
ReplyDeleteI do like to eat well :)
I haven't done any cleanses since High School - I guess I'm due for one LOL Great results on your part!
ReplyDeleteI am so glad this is giving you some relief. I am taking some pills today and then plan a bigger cleanse. I just cut wheat out of my diet this week.
ReplyDeleteI did a juice cleanse a while back and I will have to say that I felt better after I did. Thanks for reminding me about cleanses I need to do another one soon.
ReplyDeleteOh we did them every new school year right before we went back in the Caribbean. I did one just recently because of Terry as well and it worked. It wasn't the one you tried but I plan on continuing mine as well.
ReplyDeleteThis is the first I've heard of a parasie cleanse! Not sure I'd try it but does sound fascinating.
ReplyDeleteI have read your article, it is very informative and helpful for me.I admire the valuable information you offer in your articles. Thanks for posting it.. pass my drug test
