Our dogs have pretty much free reign over the house. The only rule I have ever had was no dogs on the bed. We tried letting our little pug sleep with us a long time ago, and let's just say Bed. Hog! I wasn't willing to even try with the boxers. Allison decided to break this rule and let our female, Adrian sleep with her a few months back, and that's all it took. She now senses when it's about 9:00, and patiently waits for the door to open. And when it doesn't, she scratches and cries at the door waiting to have access to
HER new bed. And when I say
HER bed, I mean she really thinks it's her bed!
Look at her, laying center of the bed, giving off this "What? I'm being generous here! Allison still has a smidgen of bed left!" look. And now Allison has learned that when you break the rules, you deal with the consequences. Good luck trying to get your bed back now, kid!
Do you share the bed with your pets?
Nope, I'd never do it... I wouldn't even keep pets inside the house. My cat rules the yard.
ReplyDeleteYou would let my Mongo in.... I'm sure. You would have some tea together and gossip about, well.... me.
Deletenot sure, I'd let him drink milk with Nyatza outside on the porch :P
DeleteAwww, that is so sweet. Our dog goes into his kennel at night - otherwise god only knows what mischief he would get into while we were sleeping.
ReplyDeleteha! I did when I was a kid, but she was just a 6 lb. teeny, tiny. The pictures are funny!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's so funny! I don't have pets, so no I don't share my bed.
ReplyDeleteI don't think my parents ever let our Pit bulls that we had when I was little sleep with them. They were just so big.
Even when the boys were babies my husband said, "No!" to them being in bed with us. I would sometimes sneak them in because he wasn't the one feeding them at night. I was. I was tired. Anyhow we only had problems breaking the bed thing when Mica was in the hospital. He was used to us being in the same room as him, and sometimes sleeping with us when he was in there. When we got home he expected the same treatment. It took a week, or two to break him of that. Generally my kids are pretty good sleepers though.
We let Mariah sleep in our bed when she was little and it took us forever to get her out. I refused to let Allison in with us, other than when she was really sick or when it was thundering or power outage, since she is terrified of both. When my niece came to live with us, it took us about 2 weeks to break her of sleeping with an adult because her mom always let her in the bed. I value my sleep too much to have little feet kicking me all night!
DeleteThat's how my husband feels. I actually wanted them to cuddle sometimes...but he didn't want them to. It does get to be a hard habit to break.
DeleteShe scratches and cries at the door waiting to have access to HER new bed? Story of my life. Only it's me who's doing the scratching.... That's what you get when you get to sleep on the couch.
ReplyDeleteSurely Bollywood Princess doesn't make such a handsome Blue sleep on the couch!? You must snore like a freight train ;)
DeleteOf course he does, why do you think he had to soundproof the bedroom? So that the neighbours wouldn't sue him :PP
DeleteAnd to think he tried blaming it on his neighbors! Hahaha!
DeleteAww I love the pics. My daughter is allergic to dogs so we don't have pets.
ReplyDeleteYes, I always have and I always will!! Of course I make sure to have a queen size bed and my then dogs did give me a tiny sliver pf room--amazing how they can stretch out! Both the cat I have now and my cat who is over the rainbow preferred the end of the bed--I guess I toss and turn too much for them! It doesn't bother me the least and if someone human happens to be staying over--it is either the coach for them (the human) or SHARE--my babies have always made room for just one more!!
ReplyDeleteWhat cute pictures. My friends are always complaining about the dogs taking over the bed. I don't have any pets.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was a little girl, I would let my dogs get on my bed. Now that I am an adult and actually see and understand where their feet go and everything else that is gross, no. They have their own bed. Of course, we have a big dog.
ReplyDeleteThese pictures are so cute! We have kept our new bulldog in his crate so far at night. I am scared he will fall off our bed and get hurt! Plus he was already crate trained and we didn't want to mess with a good thing!
ReplyDeleteHer expression is funny. She was waiting for the photo shoot. That diva dog!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute. We can't have pets due to allergies and asthma. If we could, you can bet they would be snuggled up with in in our beds. I used to have a mini schnauzer growing up - loved that dog!!
ReplyDeleteThat's adorable! She definitely thinks she rules the roost! All of our cats think the bed belongs to them. I swear they try to push me off into the floor.
ReplyDeleteI interpret that look to be more like 'Can I HELP you?'
ReplyDeleteI think you are right about that!
DeleteWe did share our bed with out oldest dog, but he started to take up too much room haha now he sleeps in the crate with the other 2 pups... we still have the 16 mo in the bed so it was too crowded!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Our cat usually sleeps with my middle son, but sometimes he comes in our bed. My husband usually ends up squishing him when he rolls over though!
ReplyDeleteWow she's totally tucked in! I can't stop laughing at the second picture. That says so much about her personality.
ReplyDeleteI had three birds but each had his/her own cage. Once I had 12 Gerbals... don't ask.
ReplyDelete12!? And I thought I was crazy for having a pet rat lol.
DeleteAw this is adorable! I have an identical pic to this of my daughter a few months ago and one of our doggies!
ReplyDeleteAww that's so sweet and adorable :) it's ok, she has early practise to motherhood when the kids take over most of the bed space too hahahah
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
So true, Ai! I sometimes think kids can be bigger bed hogs than the dogs!
DeleteI don't let pets sleep on the bed. I have to say your pics are way to cute. Dont give mine any ideas.
ReplyDeleteThere are too many people in my bed to have any room for the pets. Since our dogs are smaller, they can't get up on the bed. They have free reign over everywhere else.
ReplyDeleteSuch sweet sweet pics! I hope you save these for your girl's wedding!
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law has boxers and they are the biggest babies ever! I think they think they are little dogs because they want to sit on your lap and cuddle! haha
ReplyDeleteThey certainly do think they are lap dogs! I don't know how many times my legs have been crushed because they want to curl up in my lap! :)
DeleteOMG!! I know this all too well! Leia and chewy our pits are bed hogs!! I don't always mind because I love them but some times it's like 'Ugh, Just go away, there is this thing called a floor' so I totally get it, but I have to admit, your daughter looks so cute with her dog. I totally adore those photos! Great Memories!
ReplyDeleteThis is so adorable! My kids want a dog so badly, but I'm just not sure yet (I really want one too though!) lolol
ReplyDeleteReal tears because I know the pain. I love my dog but I refuse to let him sleep in my bed. This is too funny
ReplyDeleteMy cat sleeps with me. And is quite upset if I move during the night.
ReplyDeleteI don't have pets any longer but when I did, they slept in their crates and loved it. That was their place to get away when they wanted to be alone.
ReplyDeleteI actually do not let my dog on my bed. I just feel weird about it because I am a little OCD. I wish I wasn't that way, but I am.
ReplyDeleteHow adorable that your pooch and little girl are snuggled together. I think you are right though, your doggie is a bed hog. :)
ReplyDeleteNo way would I share with our golden retriever. He's just way too big for that! Luckily, he prefers his crate at night.
ReplyDeleteThat second picture made me laugh! The dog looks so smug. Our Labrabull sleeps in bed with us. She's a bed hog too. I usually have to lay in the fetal position because she feels she has to lay dang near right on top of us.
ReplyDeleteTry having two big dogs in bed with you...lol. A wonderful picture Theresa!
ReplyDeleteI love to see those photos :)...well, now Alisson has to deal with Adrian :p..I don't have pets here but would love to have one back home :)
ReplyDeleteAw, too cute! We have a cat and yes, he sleeps in bed with us. More challenging with cats than dogs, I suppose.
ReplyDeleteThis is so funny to be reading this today. I let my dog (who is only 23 lbs!) sleep with me in my KING SIZE BED last night and I was teetering on the edge! He somehow took up the whole thing.

ReplyDeletehaha bed is now hers, no one she's letting that go.
ReplyDeleteI shared with our lab as a kid but she never got under the covers. Now I share with two cats and for such small cats they can sure hog the whole damn bed.
nope, my dog would ruin the mattress. Her pet beds don't take long before they stink like dog, and are covered in fur.
ReplyDeleteNothing worse than having pet hair all over. I swear, I've gotten my monies worth out of my sweeper since it gets ran daily!
DeleteOMG your dog is too cute. I'd have a hard time saying no to that face. We are getting puppy and I won't be able to resist I'm sure.
ReplyDeleteI don't have pets.
ReplyDeleteI don't have pets.
ReplyDeleteAw, that's so sweet. Our dogs aren't typically allowed on the beds, they sleep in their own kennels at night.
ReplyDeleteOh so cute! Absolutely, though my dogs were my babies since I had none of my own. My Yorkie when he was alive, had a collapsible trachea, so he slept in my bed in case he needed revived. No kidding I had to give him doggy CPR twice, thought he was a gonner. He's been gone now for 11 years and still miss him.
