Sometimes people are shocked to learn that I have naturally curly hair. I never learned to embrace my curls because they are unruly, frizzy and ugly. I have been straightening my hair since I was about 13, and back then, flat irons weren't as popular as they are today. I'm almost embarrassed to admit, I hated my curls so much, I would take an actual iron (yes, one you use on clothes!) to straighten out my hair. It got the job done, but definitely isn't an ideal method. I'm pretty sure I dried out my hair and singed off a few strands a time or two. Thankfully, my use of hair straightening tools has evolved since then. With my curly hair, I've been through many flat irons over the years. I can tell you, most drugstore brands aren't worth their bargain prices. I always skip the drugstore flat irons and look for a quality iron that won't break the bank. Having 3 girls in my house, I need one that will withstand a lot of use. For the past few weeks, I have been using an EV Beauty Proline Ceramic-Tourmaline Ion Flat Iron. It's the perfect mid-grade flat iron for my families needs!

EV Beauty Flat Iron

EV Beauty Proline is a professional-quality flat iron hair straightening tool that lets you effortlessly straighten, curl, flip and volumize your hair. Style your favorite looks without damaging or dangerously drying out your hair, enjoy creating the styles you adore easily.

I was impressed that the flat iron heated up in under a minute. There are multiple heat settings, which start at 140 degrees F go all the way up to 450 degrees F. Easily turn the heat setting wheel to your desired temperature.

The 1" ceramic-tourmaline ion plates glide effortlessly over my hair, so it does not tug or pull, and does not leave crease lines on the hair. I really love that it has a thick, swivel cord so I know it's not going to crease and fray with continued use.

Here are some before and after shots. The first shows my hair just washed and dried naturally. See what I'm working with every day? It isn't pretty. But after using the EV Beauty Proline Ceramic-Tourmaline Flat Iron, my hair was straight, smooth and soft. It took about 2 passes per section to get my hair completely straight.

I still had a few flyaways that I couldn't get down, but I think that's just due to having crummy hair to begin with.

The EV Beauty Proline Ceramic-Tourmaline Flat Iron protects color, seals in natural moisture and eliminates frizz. It has damp to dry versatility for maximized conditioning. It doesn't state it on the box, but I did notice that it does automatically shut off after a period of non-use.

If you are interested in learning more, or would like to purchase your own, the EV Beauty Proline Ceramic-Tourmaline Ion Flat Iron is currently available at Amazon.

Do you have curly hair? If so, do you embrace those curls or do you flat iron daily, too?

  1. You have gorgeous hair either way. I'm impressed that you straighten it - that takes a lot of maintenance. Straight hair suits you. I got my hair straightened, and I liked it, but it was curly when I awoke the next morning. I'm too lazy to go for the straight look again.

    1. Robyn, I think curls suit you. It is a lot of work to maintain straight hair for curly girls like us, so you either got to embrace those curls or get some good tools to work with!

    1. The joy of blogging. Sometimes you have to show your ugly side, hahaha! If you ever hear of a woman complaining about getting her hair wet, this is why. It turns into wicked witch of the west. Instead of melting, it curls and frizzes though.

  3. I do have natural curls and a flat iron isn't enough to get rid of them. I need keratin treatments every 3 months, which relaxes my hair to waves and then I still have to flat iron daily.

  4. It does look nice! I have frizzy hair. It's only gotten worse since I had the boys. I to use a flat iron when I make the time. Except for if I have it short. Then it flips perfectly. I need to check out this flat iron. It did a great job on your hair.

    1. My hair got worse once I had the girls too. I suspect it's only going to get worse with age as well.

  7. I actually curl my hair every day. I have straight hair, yet I often wonder how a flat iron might work with it. Maybe give it a bit more body? I need to try it.

  9. I do not have curly hair, but I do have waves to it. If I don't straighten it then I have to wear it in a ponytail because it just looks ridiculous. It's not wavy enough to be cute, and not straight enough on its own to look good either!

  10. I have a fair amount of curl, and I sometimes let it dry naturally and curly, but sometimes I straighten it too. More often than not lately, it has been curly, but with the humidity coming, I may have to straighten it more. That did a great job on your hair!

    1. Mine heats up pretty fast, but I like to wait until it is fully heated, so I normally let it go while I am putting on my face ;)
