This spring, we bought a new family car to fit our growing needs. Now that the girls are getting older, they are both wanting to bring a friend on all of our weekend adventures. Crazy that teens don't want to hang with just their parents these days, right!? Toting around 6 people in a car all weekend long can sure put some wear and tear on the interior, which means I have my work cut out for me if I want to keep my car looking new as long as possible.
Of course, my love of the beach is no secret. We are there every weekend, and go some week nights too, usually staying until sundown.
You can imagine how nasty the car gets at the end of the day with 6 people dragging in sand. Then it gets even messier with the snacks they eat on the ride home. Look at this- sand all over the floor and stuck in the seats, and who knows what those white smudges are all over the leather.
I give the car a good scrub down each week, and rely on the best products I can find to keep my leather in top notch condition. I recently came across Leather Honey Leather Cleaner and Leather Honey Leather Conditioner, and since the conditioner is ranked as a #1 seller on Amazon, I really wanted to put it to the test on my messy car.
Leather Honey has been providing premium leather care products since 1968. Use each on all types of leather, excluding suede, to clean, protect, and keep your leather looking newer and lasting longer.
The Leather Honey Leather Cleaner comes in a concentrated 4 ounce bottle. When mixed with water, you get up to 32 ounces of cleaner. Per the instructions, I mixed 1 cup of water with 2 tablespoons of the cleaner into an empty spray bottle. Spray onto leather, let sit for a few seconds, then wipe up in a circular motion with a clean, dry cloth.
The Leather Honey Leather Conditioner is used after the cleaner. It is non-toxic, water repellant, controls mildew and leaves no oily residue. Pour a small amount onto a lint-free cloth, and gently rub into leather. Let sit to absorb for at least 2 hours (preferably over night) then wipe off excess. Now, this conditioner is thick, so you don't want to pour out too much at once. I poured a quarter sized dollop onto my cloth to start with, which covered the entire back of one car seat, then worked my way down from there, adding a little more each time.
How did it perform?
Really well! The cleaner did a great job of pulling the dirt from the leather. It dried quickly and didn't leave any sticky or oily residue behind. At first, the conditioner was a little difficult for me to spread onto the seats with my cloth, but once I got the hang of working with the thickness of the product, it went a lot smoother. After it dried, it left my leather seats feeling so soft and left them with that new car shine from when we first bought it. I was pleased it didn't feel oily or greasy, and didn't leave any scent behind either. Since we have a lot of wet bathing suits and beach towels in the car constantly, I absolutely love that it is water repellent. The long lasting formula means one application can last 6 months or longer, so you really get a lot of bang for your buck!
Use Leather Honey to clean, revitalize, and prolong the life on all of your leather goods- boots, handbags, gloves, apparel, furniture, saddles and tack, sports equipment, and motorcycle seats!
Leather Honey is made in the USA and is carefully hand-packed on their family farm in West Virginia. I love this since I am always compelled to buy products made right here at home.
Leather Honey Cleaner and Conditioner are both currently available to purchase on Amazon. DeleteI had to photo with my phone to get the whole back seat of the car, and the camera on it isn't the best. The seats are actually a gray color, but with the phone quality and the sheen of the conditioner, it does give it a blue tint in the photos.
Wow, sure looks like it does the trick indeed. All that sand going places sand shouldn't go is annoying haha
