Both of my girls have always been big veggie eaters. I was told I had an odd kid once when Allison came into the kitchen and asked if she could have a cucumber for a snack. They ask for carrots and dip or a carton of grape tomatoes at the grocery store instead of a candy bar at the checkout lanes. As a mom, it makes me happy that they usually do make these good food choices, but there's a catch when it comes to their veggie eating. It has to be raw. Baked, cooked and steamed don't cut it with them. They think cooked vegetables are too bland for their taste buds, so I was quite intrigued when I saw these new Birds Eye Flavor Full vegetables in my grocer's freezer last week.
There was quite a variety of steamed vegetable options that sounded like they would put a burst of flavor on the tongue. How could my girls refuse that!? I started off with purchasing two varieties of Birds Eye Flavor Full- Buffalo Cauliflower and Ranch Broccoli.
Since my girls are huge fans of ranch flavored anything, I tempted them with the Ranch Broccoli variety first. Allison eyed it suspiciously, and Mariah used Allison as the test dummy before taking a bite for herself. The verdict? YUM! Both girls split the entire bag and gobbled it right up! Winner, Winner Broccoli Dinner up in the house!
Allison is kind of an odd bird. She's always had a thing for spicy foods, and would probably win a jalapeno eating contest if there ever was one. Buffalo Cauliflower was served up next, and since the Ranch Broccoli was such a hit, they both dived right in. No surprise, Allison loved it. Mariah, not so much, but she's not a fan of the spice. The Buffalo Cauliflower is quite hot...enough to make my nose run, but if you are into spicy flavors, this is the variety for you!
I like the convenience of the steam and eat packs. This makes it easy for the girls to have a hot lunch or snack that they can prepare easily for themselves!
There are several more varieties in the Birds Eye Flavor Full line, including:
Birds Eye Flavor Full Sour Cream and Onion Potatoes
Birds Eye Flavor Full Teriyaki Broccoli
Birds Eye Flavor Full BBQ Corn
Birds Eye Flavor Full Sweet Chili Carrots

What variety of Birds Eye Flavor Full would you like to try first?
So they put flavour into the veggies? Or it is in some kind of a sauce that you cover it with?
ReplyDeleteThe sauce is already in the bag and it coats the veggies. No extra mixing or adding of ingredients required.
DeleteWow, never would have thought anyone would ever gobble up broccoli haha
ReplyDeleteI love it Pat! It's one of my favorite veggies. I steam it and have it for lunch all the time!
DeleteOoooh - I want to try the teriyaki broccoli. I'm not a huge broccoli fan, but love it in my Chinese dish...so that I would eat. :)

ReplyDeleteThe buffalo cauliflower would be what I would want to try. I can't stand the taste of cauliflower I wonder if I would like it if it had something other then a cheese flavor. My grandma once attempted to have me think it was mashed potatoes to eat it but I knew better. I love the idea of the broccoli and ranch I have a friend who is always buying the family style ranch dressing I gotta tell her about it.
