After a very mild end to the weather last year, I was beginning to think we'd coast through the rest of the season without a trace of snow. Just like my Powerball dreams, my fantasy of a snow-free winter was crushed last week when it finally started drifting down on us. I truly hate the cold and snow, but my boxers love it! I imagine them singing "What's This? What's This?" in a convincing Jack Skellington voice every time they go out and see the snow falling down around us. They are always amazed and delighted at the prospect of playing in the snow. Since they are pretty active dogs, they still demand a daily walk, even in the nasty winter months, which means I have to layer up to stay comfortable on our outings. Wool coat, thick knit gloves, and my BEARPAW Boshie Winter Boots make the walks bearable every day.
Rocky has a lot of power, and he's always wanting to go super fast. Which means he has very poor walking manners, swerving all over the road, tugging and pulling. Comfortable shoes are a must when walking this beast.
Adrian allows us to lead most of the time, but self-control is thrown out the window when she spots a squirrel, cat, or sprinkler popping out of the ground. I have to dig in my heels in order to not get tugged down the road by a 70 pound dog.
By the time I get home, I am ready to kick off my boots, grab a hot cup of tea and a good book, and warm back up under my covers. My BEARPAW Knee High Socks keep my feet nice and toasty, not to mention they are the most comfortable socks I've ever owned. And, they are super cute, right?!

that is a lovely coat, grey is such a gorgeous colour for outfits because it agrees so lovely with bright colours. A nice lime green, or icy blue or purple scarf would go stunning with that outfit of yours! I usually wear grey with red accessories.
ReplyDeleteYou're lucky there wasn't a cat in the street :)
Allison is my mini-me and has the shorter version of that coat. I grabbed hers at Goodwill for only $10. I paid $150 for mine! Should have looked around Goodwill first, I suppose. I usually accessorize it with a light pink scarf, because I do love a pink/gray combo. I just opted not to wear it for the photos because whenever the wind blow, it whip up in my face and make me mad. Then Jason would have to wait for me to readjust everything again before snapping another pic, which he hates to do because he's so damn impatient! lol
DeleteOnly ten bucks??? You can't even buy a woollen scarf for that price here. Clothes are five to ten times more expensive here even though our monthly salaries are like your weekly ones :( Yes, for $150 you probably could've made it at a tailors :) but it is really a practical one and will serve you long. I'd like a grey one like that, a bit longer with a hoodie :)
DeleteThe next town over is full of some of our more wealthy folks, and we also have Notre Dame college students that like to cast off their high end brands after only a season or two of use. So, I score awesome stuff at our thrift shops. I bought my coat 4 or 5 years ago and it's holding up really well. I'd like a green one as well, but haven't come across anyone donating them lately, and since mine is still good, I won't buy a new one just to satisfy my fashion addiction :) I like hoodies on men's coats, but not for women with longer hair. My hair lops over the hood and tends to look stupid, so I keep a knit hat in my handbag for when I really need one.
DeleteI LOVE those boots! You look adorable! I totally want to run out and get myself a pair.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Robin :)
