Happy St. Patrick's Day! I love this holiday because it doesn't matter if you are Irish born or not, everybody loves to get down on St. Patrick's Day. Break out the green, search for a leprechaun, and eat lots of good Irish food. Instead of doing the traditional corned beef and cabbage this year, we're going to be having Shepherd's Pie, but we have to have a little green on our plates too, so I am serving it up with a side of this delicious Asparagus with Honey Mustard Sauce. We actually did asparagus last year too, so maybe I'm starting a new tradition here in the Mahoney household.
I'm a huge fan of this tender veggie and eat it cooked plain all of the time, but you'll get a really amazing zing of flavor when you add in the honey mustard sauce. I'm pretty sure I ate more than my fair share of this delicious dish!

What's on your St. Patrick's Day menu?
Can't say I'm an asparagus fan, I tried being friends with it but it just did not work :) It is the same with olives. Some people adore them, some don't get their appeal.
ReplyDeleteI do love me any green holiday, though! And rectangular plates as well :) And Irish hunks, naturally
I didn't like it until I was in my 30s and now I love it! I have always loved olives, but not the green ones. The black ones we'll snack on all the time. Jason, my Irish hunk, usually gets me a black olive and mushroom pizza, which I do eat on rectangular plates ;)
DeleteThat is a nice way to spruce it up. I am a big asparagus fan if it's fresh. I grew up on canned so I thought I hated it. Go figure. ;)
ReplyDeleteOoh, I am not a big fan of veggies out of a can, so I can see where the ick factor would apply there. Fresh is always best ;)
DeleteI love asparagus and love to try new recipes. I need to try this and I know the family will want to try it too.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so good! Asparagus is one of my favorite veggies, and that sauce sounds amazing.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds so good! I can see pairing this with a nice, rare steak. Om nom nom.
ReplyDeleteHow yummy! I love all the great recipes with honey that you've been showcasing. Thanks so much.
ReplyDeleteHuh. Now those are two flavors I would have never thought to put together. But now that I think of it, it seems like it would lend itself well to a pairing. I'll have to try it when my wife feels more adventurous then normal. haha
ReplyDeleteMy husband raised his eyes at the dish, but ended up loving it. It really is an awesome flavor combination.
DeleteI eat green everyday, guess I'm always that way. Everyone loves to get down on Saint Me Day? Damn, I better hide.
ReplyDeleteWe definitely get down on St. You Day :) I eat green every day too. Green is my favorite when it comes to veggies.
DeleteMy kids love Asparagus. This looks wonderful! I always want to sing that song, "Aquarius", but put in "Asparagus" instead.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! I can see you and Weird Al getting along peachy!
DeleteThis looks like a great dish. I am not a fan of asparagus, but my husband love it.
ReplyDeleteOh I LOVE Asparagus - and it's one of the few veggies my son adores. Normally we just bake it drizzled with olive oil, salt and pepper...nothing fancy, but that sauce looks yum! We are completely breaking the rules and having breakfast for dinner tonight. Haha - maybe we can dye the eggs green to make them festive. :)
ReplyDeleteI usually make it your way too, but now I think I'll be adding this sauce from here on out. I kept going back for more! I love breakfast for dinner since I never make a hot meal in the mornings. Coloring the eggs is a great way to add a little green to your dish today :)
DeleteI have asparagus in my fridge! Perfect for trying your recipe, Theresa...
ReplyDeleteHappy St Pat's Day!! Love the way you prepared this easy dish!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ai! Happy St. Pat's Day to you and the family too :)
DeleteI don't generally like asparagus but when I have something like this sauce to dip it in, it makes it easier to handle. Looks yummy!
ReplyDeleteI really like asparagus but I have never tried it with honey mustard sauce. I am a big fan of honey mustard.
ReplyDeleteI heard Krispey Kreme had green donuts today and my sisterlaw said the line was long as crap. Good thing I didn't go
ReplyDeleteHoney mustard sauce goes great with anything. Now that warmer weather is just around the corner, let the grilling begin and prepare a large batch of honey mustard sauce for dipping!
ReplyDeleteWell that's an interesting way to make asparagus for sure! Will have to give it a try since my youngest wants to try asparagus due to how it will make his pee smell (boys .. smh).
ReplyDeleteBacon is another good combination to use with asparagus. But this dish definitely has the color for the season.
ReplyDeletei'm going to have to try this. sounds really good. i love asparagus.
ReplyDeleteYum these look so good! I love that the sauce looks as tasty as the actual asparagus! Yum will have to try this. - Jeanine
