As much as I love going places, I really dislike being in a car. I used to take a book with me to read to pass the time on long trips, but Jason complained about being bored not having someone to talk to, so I stopped bringing reading material along. I had to find something else I could do in the car that would keep me entertained and would allow me to carry on a conversation at the same time to keep the husband from further complaining. Enter, adult coloring books.
So, I'm a bit late to the party (story of my life) but I have just rediscovered my love of coloring. I know the adult coloring craze hit hard this time last year, and I did buy my girls a few books to get them started, but I never actually did any coloring in them myself. I figured I'd try my hand at it recently since I do have a 3 hour trip to visit Mariah, a 2 hour drive to the doctor, plus countless hours spent in waiting rooms and downtown between track meets for Allison.
I am a huge fan of fairy tales, especially the Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast, so I was pretty thrilled to get the opportunity to flip through and try out some amazing coloring books from Silver Dolphin Books.
I was itching to start my coloring adventures with The Little Mermaid coloring book because it is my all time favorite tale. This book is based on the original Hans Christian Andersen story, following the Little Mermaid in her under the sea adventures. The book is filled with beautiful pictures and patterns, you'll spend countless hours adding your own unique touch to the pages.
Beauty & the Beast coloring book is also rich in beautiful pages and patterns to color. This book is enchanting and magical and just waiting for you to bring the pages to life with splashes of color.
Both of these books are fabulous for people that are new to the adult coloring craze, like myself, or longtime fans. They are great to have on hand for long car trips or to pop boredom bubbles, and with the upcoming holidays, make great gifts too! You can find them on Silver Dolphin Books or through major online book retailers such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
Have you tried your hand at adult coloring books yet?
they do look enchanting and you did such enchanting photos too with them flowers! And such nice pencils you have too! You must show us how you coloured them in the end :)
ReplyDeleteI need to buy myself a set of those markers. Those are Allison's and she's griping I'm going to use up all of her favorite colors. Some of them have sparkles in them, but you can' tell from the photos. The colors on the pages look so much prettier in person!
Deleteyou should probably buy colour pencils, because with them you can do shading too unlike markers! Not that we don't like sparkle :)
DeleteMy mom loves to color. She's in a class once a week that meets in her condo. :)
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like such a fun group gathering. Get together to color and gossip about the neighbors? That's my cuppa tea ;)
DeleteThey do have tea there too. ;) :)
DeleteI love to color and have 3 adult coloring books all given to me by friends! It is so much fun!
ReplyDeleteYou have such sweet friends! I'm adding more books to my holiday wish list now because it's so fun!
DeleteMy grandmother got into the craze. For me and my ocd it seems too much like work lol staying in the lines, geez.
ReplyDeleteThat's why I use fine tip color pens. With colored pencils or crayons, they are too fat for me to stay in the lines. I just don't have an artistic touch, I suppose.
DeleteI get too frustrated with those things. So many little details
ReplyDeleteIt does take some patience to work on. That small amount that I colored in in the photo took me almost 2 hours to do.
DeleteI love the adult coloring books - I got one last Christmas from a friend...I don't color in it often, but when I'm really bored it's good to pull out. I love both The Little Mermaid and Beauty & The Beast too. My mom also bought one for herself - she's 70...I think it's too cute! LOL!
ReplyDeleteSee, it goes to show you are never too old for coloring :)
DeleteThat's one of the prettiest ones I've seen.
ReplyDeleteI have a few. I enjoy it, but only did a page or 2, then it set.
I can see you adding extra textures to yours and making them masterpieces ;)
DeleteWhile I don't own any adult coloring books of my own, my teenager has some that are super awesome. She is all about the smaller details and enjoys coloring these. I color preschool coloring book photos with my sons as they color their printed out pictures. Coloring really can calm you and make you smile!

ReplyDeleteI really enjoy the more difficult coloring books. As kids age it is an awesome way to challenge them.
ReplyDeleteI will have to let my good friend know about this. She is so into adult coloring books and you should see her desk. I can't believe how much coloring pens she has. Well, she has been winning awards lately for her work. And to think that this friend is a doctor! A surgeon! I guess it is her way of relieving the stress.
