If I wasn't anticipating the upcoming Halloween holiday, I'd be pretty bummed that summer's end is right around the corner. I'm not ready to jump into cozy sweaters and pumpkin spice flavored everything just yet. I still have a fridge full of summer fruit to go through for goodness sake! I really overbought on the peaches recently, so I thought I'd put them to good use in a few desserts this week. I did make an incredibly tasty blueberry peach crumble tart (recipe coming next week!) with some of them, but I also wanted to make a simpler dessert as well, and this Grilled Pound Cake with Fresh Peaches from Golden Blossom Honey was the perfect recipe to try.
This is a dessert that doesn't require very much effort to toss together, and is a perfect way to send summer off on a sweet note. Since Labor Day is nearly upon us, this would be a great addition to your cookout grub. Slap that pound cake on the grill, dump on the peaches, and boom. Dessert is served.

What's your favorite way to use up your excess summer fruit?
looks nice
ReplyDeleteTastes nice too :)
Deletethat sounds like a very lazy one, deary!
ReplyDeleteWhat Autumn, it is still summer, I reckon it will be hellish even in October. We do have pleasantly cold nights finally here, but still over 35*C during day. I keep the whole floor open during the nights to cool the rooms down and don't have to turn on the AC during the day, but I do have to keep my shutters down all afternoon.
I feel like I haven't eaten a lot of peaches this summer, and melons sucked this year too.
PS love the witty plate :)
DeleteYou need a roommate? It's already getting too cold for my liking here. I've already started breaking out the sweaters and winter pajamas :( I am counting down the days when I can pack my bags and move south to warmer pastures.
DeleteIsn't that plate cute? I really didn't need more dishes cluttering up my kitchen, but found this one on clearance and just couldn't leave it behind.
Hey I know that song! :) I love peaches. I missed that fruit truck. It came when I was recovering. Oh wells. I'll have to stop by the store, and pick some up. Georgia and Florida peaches are the best though!
ReplyDeleteThat's a song that always gets suck in my head when I am eating peaches ;) I'm surprised you don't have your own peach tree. You guys are so great at growing a lot of your own goodies!
DeleteGood not to let things go to waste indeed. The Halloween Nazi has to keep her eye on the ball, even as summer begins to stall. Then comes the snow, blah.
ReplyDeleteBlah to the snow indeed. If I never saw a snowflake again, it'd be too soon!
Deleteabsolutely love peaches I cant wait for them for summer by all these lovely fruits.
ReplyDeletelooks delicious and love your plate ♡♡
I live for summer and all the in season fruits that come with it. There are so many wonderful dishes to put them in, eating never gets boring in the summer here!
DeleteOm nom nom. I LOVE this! I live in Georgia, land of peaches, so this is PERFECT!
ReplyDeleteOoh, then you get the freshest and best peaches. Lucky Girl!
DeleteThis sounds delicious and I'm always looking for ways to use up my excess fruit. Most importantly I like easy recipes!
ReplyDeleteEasy recipes are out favorite around here :)
DeleteMy favorite way to use up fruit is to either mix up a big batch of fruit salad, or bake it in a cobbler...depending on the type of fruit.
ReplyDeleteYes! Cobblers are my favorite! I also like to bake muffins or breakfast bread with my leftovers.
DeleteI forget to say I love use fruits in summer for jams, desserts and Ice cream !!
ReplyDeleteYour ice cream posts have me itching to try making more homemade ice cream. I have a bunch of blackberries to use up and I may just do that next week.
DeleteWe love peaches! I like the sound of grilled pound cake too. Oh and ice cream on the side yes! With my excess summer fruit, I usually go with smoothies.
ReplyDeletePersonally never been a fan of peaches. But I do have to say that this looks amazing all the same.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds really good. I love peaches.
ReplyDeleteYour peach dessert looks delicious, Theresa. Sadly, I haven't found many good peaches this season. My absolute favorite peach dish is homemade peach pie. One of these days I'm going to make it to the Western Slope and get some fresh Palisade peaches. Unfortunately we'll be away during their season this year.
ReplyDeletePeach pies are one of my favorite pies. Served with a scoop of ice cream or even a little crumble on top... I'm in heaven!
DeletePerfect for the end of year grill out. We've been big on berries this summer, and haven't bought one peach. I didn't even realize that was fact until I read this post. I do love them though and this recipe looks yummy.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I think I could eat this every single day of my life.
ReplyDeleteAll I have to say is this is a thing of beauty. Peaches add so much to any recipe.
ReplyDeletePeaches are the best. I eat them daily. I can't wait to try this recipe.
