It's been a really hectic month, but I finally feel like I am getting caught up on all of the things that have been pushed to the back burner this summer. On the last day of our vacation, Mariah came down with a nasty head cold and ended up sleeping away the remainder of our trip. Don't you know, as soon as we all got home, the rest of the family slowly started getting sick too. It was a long few weeks of dealing with illness! If you've been here a while, you know that I always look for natural healing relief methods before jumping onto pharmaceutical healing. For the past few years I have been obsessed with using essential oils for our overall health and well being. At first, Jason scoffed and thought I was jumping into some kind of hippy trend, but once he experienced the healing power of some of my oils, he can't stop singing their praises now, too.
For the most part, I have stuck with the mainstream oils: peppermint, lavender, eucalyptus, and tea tree, so when I heard about essential oil blends, I was intrigued and wanted to see how well they worked. I partnered with GuruNanda recently to sample 4 of their 100% natural essential oil blends: SLIM, CALMING SLEEP, BREATHE EASY, and THRIVE.
Calming Sleep delivers a blend of lavender, marjoram, and chamomile to help clear the mind and accelerate sleep.
Thrive combats fatigue, energizes, purifies, and boosts immunity with a blend of clove, lemon, cinnamon, eucalyptus, and rosemary.
Slim supports a healthy metabolism, boosts energy, manages cravings, improves circulation and helps remove toxins with a blend of black pepper, grapefruit, cinnamon, lemon, peppermint and ginger.
Breathe Easy is a natural remedy for nasal congestion and better overall respiratory health. It has a blend of eucalyptus, peppermint, tea tree, basil and rosemary essential oils.
I do usually mix a drop or two of my essential oils into a carrier oil and put it directly on my skin, but GuruNanda oil blends are made to stimulate the senses by breathing the scents in, so they work best when used with an ultrasonic essential oil diffuser.
I've been using this super adorable GuruNanda Honeycomb Essential Oil Diffuser with the essential oil blends this past month. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing with it's soft glow color changing lights, it's really simple to set up and use.
Simply pop the top off, fill with 100ml of water, add a drop or two of your preferred GuruNanda essential oil blend, put the top back on, plug it in, then sit back and just breathe in all of the goodness these oils have to offer.
I was really impressed that once I filled the tank with water and oil then hit the power button, it immediately started diffusing the oil into the air. I didn't have to sit and wait for the unit to warm up. The steam coming from the diffuser was instantaneous.
While we were suffering from that nasty vacation bug, I was switching between BREATHE EASY and CALMING SLEEP to help us find much needed relief from the head cold and I was pleasantly surprised to find that the oil blends did an amazing job at delivering the relief that we so longed for. Since ridding ourselves of the bug, I have been frequently using THRIVE. As some of you know, my autoimmune disorder leaves me feeling weak and fatigued as well as knocks out my immune system, so I love the feeling of having more energy when I breathe in the THRIVE blend.
These four GuruNanda specialty aromatherapy blends are able to address specific health and wellness concerns by using a blend of 100% pure and natural plant essences grown and distilled on the world's most reputable farms. These are not synthetic "knock offs", they are the real deal. And, at $7.99 each, they are quite affordable. You can find them in the pharmacy section of Walmart or on the GuruNanda website.
What is your favorite essential oil? Do you think the essential oil blends would help you maintain a healthy lifestyle?
I like that it works instantly. I have one, but haven't plugged it in yet. We're in overdrive here, and I can't wait for the weekend to come so I can catch up and breathe/relax a bit!
ReplyDeleteGood luck Rosey! I know you've been a very busy lady lately so I hope the weekend is good to you :)
DeleteI thought today (Saturday) was going to be my catch up day. Then I got a text reminding me of basketball (how could I forget?!) and the calendar reminder sent one for a birthday party that I totally overlooked... just got home and it's almost 6pm. So much for catching up. ;)
DeleteThat's life lol. I had a baby shower and could have swore it started at 2 today. Nope, was at 1. D'oh!
DeleteYou can send me ten gallons of the slimming one, thank you very much :PP
ReplyDeleteWhat a gorgeous lamp too! Truly elegant. Never had me oils, though. I did have bergamot oil which I'd sometimes drip drop into a pot with water on my radiator in winter, but haven't noticed any health benefits.
Gorgeous photos as usually, they should use them in their official campaign!
Peppermint oil is my huge go to and the one Jason uses most. It's so wonderful for headaches and tummy cramping. I run a little into my temples and my headache is gone quite quickly. Or, into my belly and it really eases my cramping from my tummy troubles.
DeleteI've heard they work, not sure they'd work on me as I seem to be allergic to everything. Then again that is only if ingested, so maybe. Good that it works instantly too. Does one have to smell them though? Kinda a no go here lol smell less indeed.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you have to smell the scent, I think you just have to be able to inhale it for it to work its magic.
DeleteI would love to try these. As a mom of three, wife, and full time blogger, my stress level is often in the red. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBreathe Easy sounds like the blend for me. My husband and son both suffer from congestion, especially in the spring and summer months.
ReplyDeleteI have an oil diffuser and use essential oils in it too. I love those things.
ReplyDeleteWow, I had not heard of this before, will certainly be looking into using Gurunanda. Sounds like it's worth a try for relaxing.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like I need that Breathe Easy blend. I love using essential oils for my sinus issues!
ReplyDeleteI always like lemon or sweet orange. I use them all for different things (well the ones I own anyhow). What a great set you got!
ReplyDeleteThis would make a great gift for a client of mine who loves oils. Thanks so much for sharing
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice to add to the atmosphere of my home by diffusing. I wonder what kinds of blends I'd like.
ReplyDeleteI have never used essential oils but I am open to trying. I would give them all a try but I don't have breathing or sinus issues.
ReplyDeleteI love using lavender and lemongrass...and they do help me to calm down and relax. I hope everyone is feeling better now :) stay strong yourself too!
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
That sounds amazing! I have always liked essential oils especially since it's relaxing after a stressful day. The diffuser is really nice as well.
ReplyDeleteMy kids and I are a little sensitive and it's good to have clean air going around the house. A diffuser is a must have and I just love these scents!
ReplyDeleteI think I would need all 4 of them. Calming sleep would be for my husband, Breathe Easy for my son with seasonal allergies, Thrive for me, and Slim for my daughter. Thank you for introducing me to a product that everyone in my family would benefit from!
ReplyDeleteOye, oils are the best. The smell great and they really steady the nerves.
ReplyDeleteThis is one thing I have yet to get into, Essential oils. I really need to get them and try some out. Sounds pretty great! I hear so much about them from so many people! - Jeanine
ReplyDeleteHonestly I don't know a whole lot about essential oils. Ironically, today at work my hand is so swollen and sore from my IV site (over 2 months ago...). It started hurting again 2 days ago, and one of my coworkers always has essential oils. I asked her today if she knows of anything that could help with pain and swelling - she said peppermint or tea tree...I went with peppermint. It's still swollen, but after a couple of hours it is feeling a bit better.
ReplyDeleteHmm, I am not sure which oil would be good for swelling, but I do use tea tree oil on blemishes and that tends to make them go down. I don't know if it's because it's killing the bacteria or what. I usually use peppermint more for aches and cramping. It's awesome for headaches (just a dab on the temples) and for period cramps (again, just a few drops rubbed into the belly). With my autoimmune disorder, I avoid painkillers so it's nice to have a natural pain relief remedy on hand. Good luck with your swelling. That is so weird that it's still bothering you after 2 months!
