For me, it just isn't Halloween until we incorporate a new Nightmare Before Christmas craft into the mix, and while I did the glowing Jack pumpkin last year, this year I wanted to try my hand again at an edible that wasn't going to make a mess or cause frustration. Instead of messing with chocolates and molds, I decided to pull out my crafting vinyl and cut out Oogie Boogie's face. I then stuck the cutouts onto some glasses and filled them with green pistachio pudding and called it a success.
If pistachio pudding isn't your thing, you could always tint vanilla with some green coloring. And, if you prefer Jack Skellington over mean old Oogie, you could fill the cups with vanilla pudding and plaster on Jack's face instead. Or, do them both for a fun party mix.
Since Oogie is filled with all kinds of nasty critters, you could even mix in some gummy candy worms and bugs for an extra fun treat!
Using my Silhouette Cameo, this was a 5 minute craft. You certainly don't need a cutting machine though since there is very little detail, you could cut these by hand fairly quickly. I picked up my vinyl sheets at Michael's for under $2 each.
Also, if you are planning a Halloween party, you could pass out some homemade burlap Jack Skellington treat bags.
I made these about 2 years ago using some black burlap sacks that I found in Target's $1 spot. I cut out Jack's face with some silver glitter heat transfer, ironed it on, then boom. Another craft done in under 5 minutes.
If you have a Gordman's close to you, they usually have Nightmare Before Christmas socks for under $2 a pair that make great treat bag fillers and 5 Below usually has NBC pencils, nail polish and stickers that are great party favors too. Your guests will be delighted and probably start singing "What's this? What's this? I can't believe my eyes! Oh, I want it, oh I want it, oh I want it for my own"... Happy Halloween!

ReplyDeleteyou know green brings up my appetite! We don't have pistachio pudding here, but we did have apple one, which was also green, I used to cook grated apples for ten minutes in water and then add instant pudding into it.
ReplyDeletethese looks amazing Theresa!!
ReplyDeleteTurned out grand indeed. Easy peasy too with no mess. Even I may not mess this one up lol
ReplyDeleteThese are the most adorable pudding cups ever! I know that my sons would get a kick out of them, so I must make them!
ReplyDeleteThose are such cute crafts! I love the cups! My kids would have loved them when they were younger and I'm sure my nephew would get a kick out of them now.
ReplyDeleteOogie boogie pudding cups look amazing! Those Jack treat bags are crazy cool!
ReplyDeleteThose Oogie Boogie treat cups are such a cute idea. Thanks for the tips on where to buy NBC things for Halloween goodie bags.
ReplyDeleteOh fun! I definitely like those faces! This reminds me, I need to re-watch the movie soon!
ReplyDeleteLove this idea. We were invited to a family Halloween party this weekend, this would be great to bring for the potluck.
ReplyDeleteI literally do not blame you for giving up, haha. I have heard that many others didn't have too much luck with the balloon and chocolate either.
ReplyDeleteI am loving that decal! Cheap and works for multiple things. Amazing!
ReplyDeleteYou have some fun ideas! I thought for a second they were the same face but now I see they are different! Tells you how old I am XD
ReplyDeleteThat's so creative and the best part is you don't have to worry about the mess, since it doesn't involve melted candy and balloons popping. I think it's a brilliant idea!
ReplyDeleteHow fun and easy is this one to do! I think it's going to be a huge hit with the family. I love how creepy it looks with the green color and all! Good job on the vinyl stickers!
ReplyDeleteMy husband loves the Nightmare Before Christmas. We have Jack and Sally paintings that stay up all year! These are going to be a huge hit around here!
ReplyDeleteThese are really cool! I love it! Perfect for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThese are really cute burlap pouches. I love the design. So timely for Halloween. I like the pudding cups. I wouldn't mind if it is pistachio pudding or tinted vanilla. It is just going to be delicious anyway and fun to have for Halloween.
ReplyDeleteI love how you carried though the Nightmare Before Christmas Theme with the pudding cups and the jack skellington treat bags, so cute!

My son is watching basketball right next to me. When he saw your pudding cups pop up on my screen he looked over. If you can catch his attention while he's looking at a game, that's pretty darn good. They are awfully cute. :)
ReplyDeleteI'll take that as a win! :)
DeleteLove your creativity! I did the whole chocolate bowl thing a couple years ago and had the same fiasco as you. Never again!
ReplyDeleteGlad I'm not the only one! Not that I'm happy you had issues too, but it's really not as simple as they try to make it look, is it?
DeleteHahaha - I love to look at Pinterest, but I'm not craft so I don't dare try to recreate. I did do a Harry Potter party one year, and got the ideas from Pinterest, and it turned out awesome - but nothing I did was difficult...thank goodness. :) I also used it for a MineCraft party idea...again, it was a hit - but nothing hard. It was cool though. :) I guess the few times I've used it have been successful.
ReplyDeleteBTW - I got my Mamma Chia package last week - my kids and I have enjoyed trying the various items. :) My favorite - the blueberry clusters!! Yum!
DeleteYay! Thanks for letting me know it safely arrived. Those blueberry clusters were gobbled up first thing here. They were so good!
DeleteI like to get ideas from Pinterest. At times some of the protein balls are great, and other times they aren't that good.
ReplyDeleteI made those chocolate bowls by dipping balloons in chocolate. Let's just say that at first it wasn't working at all. I had chocolate splattered all over the stove because balloons kept popping.
Pudding Cups look yummy!
Seems to be a lot of us have that splatter issue with the balloons and chocolate. Maybe we need to buy thicker balloons?
DeleteI had room mothers in my second and third grade classes who were creative like you, Theresa! They could quickly whip up amazing threats and crafts for my kiddos to eat and do. they would have loved these pudding cups! I hope that you had a great Halloween!
ReplyDeleteThank you Fundy Blue! I hope you had a wonderful Halloween too :)
