This is the time of year when sweet goodies are constantly at our fingertips. Tempting treats such as pies and cakes and cookies (oh my goodness, the holiday cookies are endless!) really make it hard to stay on top of health and fitness goals. It kind of helps that my husband has been on a health craze lately, hitting up the gym and watching what foods we bring into the house, but I admit, I feel a little irritated when I want to whip up a sweet dessert and he puts his foot down. Last weekend he even refused to make me a margarita (virgin, of course) because "those have too much sugar in them!" So, that left me wondering what I was going to do for his birthday, which is in 2 weeks, since he's trying so hard to cut down his sugar intake. I normally make him his favorite candy bar cake, but since it's super sugary, I have to scrap that this year. Thankfully, Stevia In The Raw® has come to the rescue.
Stevia In The Raw® is a zero-calorie sweetener that is an extract from the sweet leaves of the stevia plant that you can use to sweeten your foods without the extra calories you would get if you were to use sugar. Since Stevia In The Raw® has partnered with a renowned Registered Dietician Nutritionist, Patricia Bannan, they have created an eCookbook that shows how you can still make the desserts you love this holiday season (and year round too!) with less sugar and calories. Half Your Cake And Eat It Too is available as a FREE download from InTheRaw.com.
As I was browsing the eCookbook, I found a Flourless Sunken Chocolate Lava Cake with Raspberries that piqued my interest. A cake without flour and half the sugar? I knew I had to do a trial run right away because this sounded like something that I could treat Jason for his birthday this year and let him stick to his health goals. I broke out my Stevia In The Raw® Bakers Bag and got to work.
I have never made a flourless cake before and was curious to see how this one would bake up, so I was pleasantly surprised with the end result. It had a cakey outer layer and a soft, gooey center. Topped with a dusting of cocoa powder and raspberries equaled dessert perfection.
By swapping out 1/2 of the sugar for In The Raw®, here's how we saved nutrition-wise:
You can find the full recipe for this scrumptious Flourless Chocolate Lava Cake right in the Half Your Cake And Eat It Too eCookbook. There, you'll also find several more tempting recipes that would be perfect for your seasonal baking needs.
Stevia In The Raw® Bakers Bag measures cup for cup with sugar so it can be used in your recipes to reduce sugar and calories with no conversion necessary. However, when you are using Stevia In The Raw® for baking, it is recommended that you only replace 1/2 of the sugar in the original recipe in order to achieve the proper browning, rising and caramelizing that only sugar can provide.
Replace sugar with In The Raw® Bakers Bag in your baking recipes this holiday season to save up to 700 calories per cup replaced. That sounds like a good deal when you want to indulge in seasonal sweets and keep on track with your dietary goals. You can find Stevia In The Raw® Bakers Bag in most major grocer retailers nationwide. You can find delicious recipes from the eCookbook Half Your Cake And Eat It Too at InTheRaw.com.

He is, but he did recently say "your workouts must be doing something cause I can't pinch the fat on your legs anymore". I didn't know whether to be happy about that or punch him in the nose.
DeleteThe raspberries were on sale super cheap last week. $1.25 for 6 ounces. This week they are back up to $2.50 though. I bought those sweater bowls a few years back and they are still one of my favorite purchases.
