"Push your butt back and down. Knees don't go over the toes. Keep that chest up! Squat! Squat! Squat!"
1 hour a day, 4 days a week this is what my fitness instructor is hollering at me. For years I've been telling you all how much I love to work out, but I really started to push my body about 4 months ago when I decided to add weight training to my workout routine. I felt I had reached my limit on how far cardio alone was going to take me, but still wasn't happy with where my body was fitness wise. It's one thing to look thin and fit, but what I really wanted was muscle tone and definition. When my gym started offering Les Mills Body Pump, I didn't hesitate to jump right in, even opting to go to the 5:30am classes twice a week. (this is where we'd throw in a shocked emoji).
5 months ago I couldn't even tell you what a dead lift or power press was, now I'm doing about a million of them a day. Okay, maybe not that many, but it sure feels like it! When I first started the classes, I felt so out of my element. Putting 2 5 pound plates on my bar left me struggling to keep up with the other girls in the class. I felt discouraged and even thought about just dropping the class. Then I realized that I'm not in a competition with these other girls. If I drop out, I'm only letting myself down. It didn't matter that they had the largest plates on their bars and I was lifting with the small ones. Every day that I that I went in and pushed through the class meant I was getting stronger than I was before I started.

However, that doesn't mean that every workout is butterflies and sunshine. Some days I still struggle and that little voice in my head says, "It's okay to be lazy today. Just go through the motions. Who's going to know you didn't give it your all?" While it can be tempting to give in, I believe in being accountable for my progress. I have goals I want to reach, so I believe the best way to do that is to see with my own eyes how much progress I've made each day reaching those goals. That's why I always wear a fitness tracker. I've used many trackers over the years and can tell you that even though some of them are trendy and popular, that doesn't mean they are giving you the full tracking potential you need to accurately calculate your progress. So, I recently swapped out my current fitness tracker to the Healbe GoBe™ 2, the first and only complete smart-life band.
The GoBe™ 2 fitness tracker is a perfect device for those looking to get a better understanding of their body and how it processes food by monitoring 9 key health perimeters, which is more than any other fitness tracker currently on the market. It measures calorie intake, calories burned, energy and water balance, stress level, emotional state, heart rate, sleep quality, plus distance and number of steps traveled per day.
Healbe’s patented Healbe
FLOW™ technology enables GoBe 2 to non-invasively measure the glucose
concentration in users’ bloodstreams to automatically determines their calorie
and nutrition intake (carbohydrates, fats, sugar, etc.), energy balance and
hydration levels. These measurements are also based on personal data input by
the user (gender, height, weight, age) into the Healbe GoBe app and Healbe’s
model of the body’s natural physiological metabolic processes as monitored by
its evolving and proprietary algorithms.
While I have always enjoyed being able to count my steps with other fitness trackers before, what sold me on the GoBe™ 2 most was the ability to see my hydration levels and track my food intake. I've used calorie counting apps before, and those prove to be spotty because sometime you are playing a guessing game with how much fat and calories you are actually consuming because of size and volume and how big of a portion I am measuring out may not align with their calculations. However, with the unique Healbe FLOW™ technology sending those non-invasive feelers though my system, I am able to get an accurate measurement of my nutrients all day long. I did compare my calculations against the GoBe™ 2's and it seemed spot on. Thursday is my 2 hour workout day, so I was happy to see I ended the day at -556 calories. Of course, there were a few days where I only had like 20 calories to spare, but as I was able to track my calorie intake, I knew what I was getting myself into before shoving another morsel into my mouth.

You can see from my water intake where I was low. I actually woke up feeling really thirsty and my GoBe™ 2 sent a buzzing through the tracker and the screen lit up telling me my hydration levels were low, giving me a gentle reminder to get some fluids into my system. My tracker even sent a buzz to let me know when I was in an emotional state (I was thinking of something that made me mad at the time and was surprised when it was able to track it). This is a very helpful feature for those who tend to be emotional eaters.
With all of these amazing Healbe GoBe™ 2 features, I feel confident that I am getting an accurate assessment of my body movement and activity, which will help me map out a better plan of attack in reaching my fitness goals. I'd still love to swap out 10 pounds of fat for 10 pounds of muscle, and I feel that with the right tracking methods now, that goal is more attainable than ever.
The band is super simple to set up, easily syncing to your phone through the Healbe GoBe app. It is lightweight and comfortable to wear, however my only issue with the band would be its size. It's a bit larger than the fitness trackers I've used in the past, and I prefer to keep my accessories discreet. This isn't a deal breaker, but hopefully future designs will be a bit smaller.
What's your favorite way to get in exercise daily?
I wish I had a gym I could walk five feet to get to, instead of a 15-20 min drive
ReplyDeleteMe too. My gym is 15 minutes away and in the bad part of town, so I must drive it.
DeleteDamn, sounds like that does everything but cook your meal and work out for you haha I remember watching the P90x videos and going how in the heck can they do that. Lifting way more weights than me and twisting bodies in a way mine couldn't, but now I can do it all. Just takes time indeed and we have to keep at it.
ReplyDeleteSo true! It's amazing what you can accomplish when you don't give up. Good for you pushing through to gain those skills!
DeletePfftt you spent just 24 calories running, that's two TicTacs :PPP I hear walking quickly is better than running, not that any of those wouldn't kill me personally :)
ReplyDeleteYou're a proper Hulk, dahlink!
What a practical little gadget! We must kill it and bury it somewhere, you don't need constant reminders of how much calories you did not burn :)
Why are you wearing bowling shoes in the gymgyms? :)))
PS did you go peepee at 2:47? :) Or was that Jason kicking you in his sleep? Or a night snack?
DeleteUnless my house is on fire, you won't catch me running anywhere ;) They do say running is bad for the knees, so I think power walking would be much better on the joints.
DeleteThey do look like bowling shoes haha! They are flat bottom sneakers, which are better for stability when you are weight lifting. My instructors always wear and recommend Converse, but I like my ADIDAS better. Plus, they were only $25.
That 2 hr 47 minutes means I was awake for 2 hours and 47 minutes. I went to bed at 1:59 and it tracked me sleeping for 6 hours and 21 minutes. I probably fell asleep, woke up to take Allison to school and get some chores done (accounting for those 2 hrs 47 minutes), then fell back asleep for a few more hours. I definitely need to work on my sleep patterns!
Hope you did not drive her in pyjamas :))
Deleteamazing Theresa and you looks wonderful!! xoxox
ReplyDeleteThank you so much Gloria!
DeleteI actually took my first Body Pump class last week. I probably shouldn't admit to how sore I was the next day. This fitness tracker looks like a great one. I haven't been into counting steps, but this one tells you so much more!
ReplyDeleteThe soreness after those first few classes is nothing to sneeze at! It's painful, but no gain without pain, right?
DeleteWow, that sounds all kinds of awesome. I want to get one now because it sounds like it will help keep me on track.
ReplyDeleteZumba first thing in the morning - I'm back at it 3 days per week, but hoping to up that to 5 eventually. I always take the weekends off. ;) I started back Zumba right before Thanksgiving, and even through the holidays and all the bad eating, I've managed to lose just shy of 7 pounds. Yahoo!
ReplyDeleteThat's awesome that you are back to the Zumba and doing it 3 days per week. 4 workout days a week is my limit. I never workout on weekends because a girl just needs a break sometimes lol. 7 pound weight loss since the holidays is amazing progress! I haven't lost a single pound since then but I think it's because I'm putting on muscle weight. I'll look forward to hearing about your progress :)
DeleteIt is great to get all that information and it motivates you to know how well you did and the metabolic improvements. It is not a lot to pay for a great workout asset.
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like an awesome fitness tracker. I need to get back on track with working out.
ReplyDeleteI am loving the sound of that band. I recently started focusing more on my health as well.
ReplyDeleteYour fitness instructor sounds like a great encourager! I love trainers like her!
ReplyDeleteWow, this arm band is just what I need. It would be nice to see numbers to keep me in check daily!
ReplyDeleteI love this! I used to workout using our Wii Fit and the EA Sports Active. It was honestly the only thing I found that helped me stay on track and I gained some muscles. I need to try to find something new and updated though, glad for this post! I would love to have an instructor!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great gadget. You are obviously doing a great job! I like how it tracks so many things for you. Water intake is important and I think it is great it lets you know if you are low. Keep up the good work, you are definitely killing it!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like an awesome tool to track your progress. I want to get one now, because it sounds like it will help me to reach my goals!
ReplyDeleteI'd like to try a fitness tracker. I'm way overdue to give one a go! Love that you're so motivated. That's how results are found. :)
ReplyDeleteThis sounds awesome! Tracking your progress really adds to your motivation. I would love to try this.
ReplyDeleteThat is a nifty little gadget to have! I love that it can give you a reading of how much fat, protein and carbs you ate. That would take away the guessing.
ReplyDeleteYes, taking away the guesswork is an awesome feature!
DeleteAll these neat little gadgets for fitness are really interesting.
ReplyDeleteIt amazes me how it's able to track all that it does!
DeleteWay to go! I love that you're doing this. Keep blogging about it.
ReplyDeleteThank you Alissa! I'll be sure to update my progress either her or on Instagram :)
DeleteLook at you! So glowing and healthy! That gadget that you are wearing looks cool!
ReplyDeleteThank you Indah! The watch certainly is a step ahead of its competitors!
DeleteI want to have that GoBe2. It would definitely motivate me to stay on the path to healthy living.
ReplyDeleteI love technology. I didnt know the GoBe2 helps you like this that is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHuge kudos to you for your motivation and willpower. That's a fitness tracker I think would be helpful. I especially like that it tracks water intake and sleep patterns.
