These past few months I have upped my workout game. Where I used to go to 3 classes a week, I am now doing 5. Twice a week I do weight training, twice a week I do dance cardio, and once a week I do kickboxing. You guys, I have muscles showing in places that I have never seen any before and it feels amazing! I recently had someone ask me how I stay motivated to keep pushing myself week after week, so I thought I'd share my tips with you today.
1. Switch up your routine. I use to stick to the gym machines exclusively and found I got burnt out on doing them all the time within a few months. If your gym offers instructor led classes, sign up for one and try something new. Take 1/2 a class to feel it out. If you love it, try a full class next time. If not, see what other classes are available. Swap between classes to keep your workouts feeling fresh and new and avoid getting stuck in a fitness rut.
2. Make sure you have appropriate fitness gear. Proper, supportive shoes should be first on your list of fitness essentials. Comfy, moisture wicking fitness wear should also be a priority. If you aren't comfy in your clothes, you'll end up cutting your workouts short. I also have a pair of workout gloves stashed in my gym bag that help me hold onto the bar and keep it from slipping when I weight train.
3. Get a fitness tracker. They are great for keeping you motivated and track your workout progress. I push myself harder when I wear my fitness tracker, trying to beat the stats of my last workout.
4. Make friends with the other gym guests. You don't have to find a designated workout buddy, but it's more fun to workout when you feel like you are among friends. I'm shy by nature, but once I started to get to know the other ladies in my fitness classes, I started to look forward to working out even more. Now we have a "fitness squad", where we encourage and cheer each other on.
5. Try a fitness drink to help boost your energy levels. Jason always has a pre and post workout fitness drink, but he uses a powder which I find chalky and not very tasty, so I've avoided using them myself. That is, until I recently tried CELSIUS® fitness drinks.
CELSIUS® provides the energy boost you've been waiting for by offering fitness drinks for any fitness level. When combined with exercise, CELSIUS® accelerates your metabolism, burns body fat, and provides healthy energy by turning on thermogenesis (a process that boosts your body's metabolic rate).
CELSIUS® products are powered by the clinically proven, proprietary MetaPlus® formula that enacts the thermogenesis process. MetaPlus® contains Green Tea, EGCG, Caffeine, Guarana Seed Extract and Ginger Root Extract. All CELSIUS® products are free of sugar, preservatives, aspartame or high fructose corn syrup and are non-GMO, with no artificial flavors or colors. The products are kosher and vegan certified, soy and gluten-free and contain minimal sodium.
What I love about CELSIUS® is that it comes ready made in a can. No messy powders to mix, just pop the top and you're good to go. The flavor combinations are scrumptious too! There are many different ones to choose from in each of the product lines:
- CELSIUS HEAT is the ultimate training partner to help you optimize your fitness results. The energy-charged, trainer-grade pre-workout drink packs 300mg of caffeine and 2,000mg of L-Citrulline. It is sold in 16oz cans and is available in seven delicious carbonated flavors: Inferno Punch, Cherry Lime, Blueberry Pomegranate, Strawberry Dragonfruit, Tangerine Grapefruit, Apple Jack’d and Orangesicle.
- CELSIUS' Natural Line extension is available in 12oz cans and has six refreshing flavors: three sparkling (Orange Pomegranate, Grapefruit, Cucumber Lime) and three non-carbonated (Strawberries & Cream, Pineapple Coconut and Watermelon Berry). The line is naturally caffeinated and naturally sweetened.
- CELSIUS Originals comes in seven sparkling and non-carbonated flavors in sleek 12oz cans. They are also available in single-serve powdered packets. The flavors include sparkling (Orange, Grape Rush, Watermelon, Wild Berry and Cola) and non-carbonated (Peach Mango and Raspberry Acai).
The drinks are carbonated, but I would say the carbonation is light. It's not overly bubbly like what you find in a soda, just a few airy bubbles. I did not feel gassy or bloated with the carbonation in these energy drinks. I take a double class on Tuesdays, 45 minutes of kickboxing and 45 minutes of cardio dance, and with the help of CELSIUS®, I have no problem powering through both workouts. With the results I am seeing, CELSIUS® has most definitely earned a spot in my pre-workout routine.
You can find CELSIUS® nationally at fitness clubs, 7-Eleven, Sprouts, The Fresh Market, and key regional retailers such as HEB, Publix, Winn-Dixie, Harris Teeter, Shaws, and on Amazon.
*Please do your own research before taking CELSIUS®. The statements have not been evaluated by the FDA. It is not intended to diagnose, prevent, treat, or cure any disease.

ReplyDeleteI workout five times a day when I go down to the fridge....
The right shoes are sure a must with anything. You? Shy? Geez, who would have guessed haha It's fun to get muscles where you never had them before, although you may get weird looks once you start feeling yourself up haha oh well.
ReplyDeleteIt's good you're upping your workout. I squeeze a lemon, or 2 and add 2 sparkling waters, and fill the rest of a pitcher up with water and ice. It's refreshing like a soda, but not as bland as a sparkling water alone. I use limes sometimes too.
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of this product. I don't really work out these days.
ReplyDeleteIt is great that you have increased your workout regimen in time for swimming season. I would love to try these drinks that will increase your energy.
ReplyDeleteUsually, a hot cup of black coffee and a protein shake, then I'm on my way to the gym. I'll have to look for this the next time I'm out.
