Nelly said it best. It's getting hot in here. And with the temperatures rising, so are my cravings for a cold, refreshing treat. My guilty pleasure in the summer usually involves me harassing Jason to drive us over to Sonic for 1/2 priced milkshakes after 8pm, but ever since he decided to get all health conscious, I hear "we don't need those" more and more these days. Pft! Maybe he doesn't, but I do! Thankfully, I've found a compromise where it comes to chilly desserts for consuming on hot summer days. This Frozen Tropical Fruit Cream recipe from Golden Blossom Honey presents us with the best of both worlds. A cold, sweet treat for me without all the fat and calories for him. Win, Win!
Made with whole ingredients, just fruit ad honey, this is a pleasure one doesn't have to feel guilty about indulging in. The hardest part about this recipe is waiting for the fruit to freeze, then set again in the freezer, but with a little planning ahead, it's so worth the wait.
I could have probably eaten the entire pan myself, it's that good. This is one dessert you are going to want to make again and again with summer's fresh, sweet berries available all season long. You won't even hear my husband saying "we don't need any of that". When you have a recipe this good, everybody needs it!

What's your guilty pleasure in the summer?
What a berrylicious, berrytastic treat indeed! And if blueberries are sour enough you don't even need to add some lemon in it! A lovely combo indeed!
ReplyDeletePS, dahlink, why is that ice cream scooper so fugly? :P
I've had raspberries all week long and I think this year I will have them for another week too!
Because it's retro and doesn't break that those shitty ones with springs attached.
DeleteOoh, so your raspberry bush sounds like it's doing well this year! Hurray! I think the coons or opossums or even squirrels chewed up my brussel sprout plants. I'm quite irritated as this was my first year trying them to see if they would grow for me, and now they are all gone :(
Goes to show that when all else fails, you can make your own. How dare him stick to healthy eating and not take you though lol
ReplyDeleteWhere there's a will, there's a way. Though, we will be getting some 1/2 priced milkshakes at some point this summer!
DeleteWhat, what, whaaat?!? It's that easy to make and tastes delicious too? We always have berries and Golden Blossom in the house. Getting this one made over the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI hope you do. It's so yummy! If you want to make it a little unhealthier, mix in some heavy whipping cream. Who says we have to be good all the time ;)
DeleteI should make this with variations. We have so many strawberries this year! They are tiny though! We had such a weird year with spring happening late.
ReplyDeleteThis looks yummy!
Guilty pleasure: I make a poke cake. Chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, and chocolate frosting. Sinful I know.
Mine were tiny too, but it's the first year they really bloomed into a full harvest. (I only planted them 2 years ago). Your poke cake sounds divine!
DeleteThat looks perfect for summer.
