We're almost 3 weeks into summer vacation here and while this should be a relaxing time of the year, I've been feeling a bit of the chaos that can come with having the kids home constantly. Did you know that according to a Red Baron survey of 1,000 U.S. moms of kids ages 13-17, more than 2 in 5 moms view their kids' summer break as the least relaxing time of the year? Many moms feel like the breaking point comes just 13 days into summer vacation where they start falling behind on chores like grocery shopping and meal prep. While summer break is my favorite time of the year, I can see why some moms think of it as more trouble than it's worth. When the girls have a normal 7am to 4pm day through the school year, it's easy for me to get things done around the house, plan schedules in advance, and stick with a consistent routine. But now that Mariah is home from college, I'm battling making appointments around her work or social schedules, Allison has random friends popping by throughout the day, and Jason has upped his bicycling workouts, going after work every day that the weather is nice. Some days it's pure chaos around here.
On those summer days when chaos ensues, this mom does not have it in her to deal with complicated dinner prep. That's why I ALWAYS have Red Baron frozen pizza stashed in my freezer.
For more than 40 years, Red Baron has helped moms through mealtime chaos by offering pizza that the whole family loves. Because a better crust makes a better pizza, Red Baron gives you a perfect crust with each of their 11 Classic Crust pizzas. Red Baron Classic Crust is not too thick, not too thin, but crispy, airy, and flaky that makes it a true classic. Flavors range from favorites like Cheese and Pepperoni, and even Chipotle Chicken, so there's a variety for every taste palate. While I'm a cheese girl, my family always goes for pepperoni.
Mealtime can be a battle in itself, but anytime we have Red Baron on the menu, dinner is going to get served in perfect harmony. No complaints, just one family coming together to share a meal in peace. Since we just started our summer vacation, I foresee a lot more Red Baron Mealtime Solutions in our future.
Moms, if you are feeling the summertime mealtime battles too, clear out a little freezer space, then head to your nearest grocers and stock up on your family's favorite Red Baron Classic Crust Pizza. When you have Red Baron and The Baroness on your side, you #NeverFlySolo when it comes to summer meal battles.
What is the most stressful part of summer vacation for you?
WOW! Yummy and colorful Red Baron pizza. Amazing dinner:)
ReplyDeleteIt does make for a yummy dinner!
DeleteGood way to help relieve some of the stress. Hey, at least you don't have to bicycle with him, as I know you looooove doing it, so there is some stress gone.
ReplyDeleteNo bicycling here. Went 2 weeks ago and chaffed my thighs. Not cool :(
DeleteOMG why are they in school till 4PM? Our kids start at 7am and finish around 1pm and if they're an afternoon shift they go at 1pm and finish at about 6 or 7pm, but they have half a day free.
ReplyDeleteLooks nom, only idiots don't like pizza :) You did that last photo splendidly, dear.
I still don't understand, though, why would any sane person name their company Red Baron. He was an ebil German pilot from WW1 who killed and bombed god knows how many innocent people.
Allison is usually out at 3pm, but then it takes an hour for her to get home on the bus. They do have about 7 1/2 hour school days here, probably to get them used to the 8 hour working shifts when they graduate?
DeleteI agree. I don't trust anyone who doesn't like pizza!
I have no idea about the name. I agree with Rosey though. Snoopy will always be known as the Red Baron to me.
On real vacations, the actual traveling part.
ReplyDeleteYes, that can be very exhausting even though you are supposed to be relaxing!
DeleteI haven't had a Red Baron in awhile. Also, that's interesting what Dez said...Snoopy is the Red Baron, right? Yeeikes. :) Guess I'll pick one of these pizzas up for here too. Some summer nights we just don't want to cook!
ReplyDeleteI am guilty of not wanting to cook more often than not these days. Having Mariah home after 9 months of her being away, I forgot how much extra work happens around here with an extra person to look after!
DeleteThis summer we've had sooooo many Dr. or Orthodontist appointments - and with both my husband and I working fulltime, it's been hard on us trying to divvy up the appointments so neither of us has to miss too much time off work. Luckily my husband has Monday's off - so that helps...but I can't stick them all on him since that's his only day off during the week.
ReplyDeleteI was so happy when my daughter got her braces off. You are right. They require soooo many appointments. Having Monday off is nice, so you can attend appointments without missing work, but he should definitely have some free Monday's just to do whatever he wants to do.
DeleteI've had Red Baron pizza and for a frozen pizza it's not bad.
ReplyDeleteOne of the better frozen pizzas for sure.
DeleteStressful: This summer looking for a job, which I just signed a contract for yet another year, so that didn't happen. I did have a few different experiences land in my direction though. Then the kids fighting. I always feel like they are the only kids that fight - WRONG. It just feels like it.
ReplyDeleteThe pizza looks wonderful! I think I'm just making hot sandwiches and soup tonight. It's what we have. Travis is in charge of meat, and he didn't pull any out. I'm in charge of fruits and veggies being stocked. We have way too many, so I may need to cut and freeze. I had to bring fruit salad and a fruit pizza to our birthday parties this weekend. I just over bought.
I'm sorry you have to go back for another year. Fingers crossed something else comes your way next year.
DeleteI'm sure the boys will be out of their fighting stage soon. I think Mariah and Allison stopped around the time Allison turned 12 or 13. Now they just hurl snarky insults at each other here and there lol.
That's because it is more trouble than it's worth. There's no doubt about it. Yes, I teach summer school. How did you guess... :)
ReplyDeleteI like having Red Baron for lunch or supper from time to time. My fave is pepperoni. When my kids were younger, it was more stressful during summer break. Now that they're older, I really enjoy the quality time.
