Of course I first heard about this charming little bakery on Instagram, because with the gorgeous floral arrangements they always have cascading over the entrance way, Peggy Porchen's is one of the most Instagrammable shops in London.
We were a bit pressed for time since we stopped by on our way to catch our train for Paris, so we didn't have the chance to sit down for tea and baked goods, but I definitely wasn't leaving without having a peek inside. As imagined, the interior is just as charming as the exterior.
The floral ambiance is carried all the way through, giving the vibe that you're having tea and biscuits fit for a princess. With how beautiful the bakery is, I was expecting overpriced treats, but the price point on all of the baked goods were reasonable, actually comparable or a little less than you would pay at Starbucks.
As one would expect from such a pretty shop, the cakes and cupcakes are just as lovely.
While I didn't have time to sit down and order off of the menu, I did grab a Lemon Lavender Tea Cake to enjoy on our train ride and it was ah-mazing!
The whole bakery is worthy of your Instagram feed, but be sure to grab a few goodies after snapping your pics. You won't regret it!
Do you have a local bakery/cake shop that you like, or do you just shop the bigger chains and supermarkets for your baked goods?
Hi, Theresa! I haven't been by your blog in a while, but I'm glad I caught this post. This bakery looks wonderful. If I'm lucky enough to get back to London, I'll have to look for it. I have had lemon lavender tea cake, and it is delicious! I love baked goods, but I rarely go near a bakery these days ~ trying to lose a few more pounds. I enjoyed the photos, and especially the one of your daughters. All the best to you in 2019!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by Fundy Blue ♥ I admit, I've slacked on blogger visits as well, but I'll be sure to head your way shortly. Thankfully we don't have good bakeries like this in my area, so I don't go overboard with eating of the baked goods here unless I make them myself. Though, I do have a few more pounds to lose also, so it's a rare treat to a tea cake or muffin anymore.
DeleteThat looks good.
ReplyDeleteIt was!
DeleteI think that they overdid it with da flowers, but I'd gladly overdo it with that silver fox waiter :) Did you give him my phone number?
ReplyDeleteCome to think of it, you did not really tell us what you ate in England and France!
Dahlink, I posted that photo of the silver fox waiter just for you. I told you London has some of the prettiest men I've ever seen :P
DeleteHonestly, we didn't eat anything special in either London or France. London breakfasts were done at our hotel and we filled up enough that we didn't need to eat again until dinner. We did a delicious Italian restaurant one night in Picadilly Circus, though I already forgot the name of it. I would have loved to try more French cuisine, but almost every damn restaurant there was closed during our stay. First day because of Bastille Day, and the second day because everything was closed due to World Cup. We only ate at that Indiana Kitchen I posted about on Facebook aside from this no name amazing bakery that was right by our hotel. There wasn't much eating until we got to Ireland.
That is such a cute bakery! I would love to just sit there for hours with a cup of tea, some tasty baked treats, and a good book.
ReplyDeleteI wish I would have had more time to enjoy all of the offerings. I could lose myself for hours there with some tasty treats and a good book!
DeleteThe outside entrance is so inviting! My wife and daughter would love all the flowers. Of course, we'd love to have some of the bakery treats as well!
ReplyDeleteI can't imagine too many women who wouldn't want to visit. I'm sure your wife and daughter would love it as much as I did!
DeleteWow, that is a neat little place indeed. Sure go all out. Never know what one may find on instagram and get to visit.
ReplyDeleteI have so many places saved that I found on travel blogs on Instagram. Let's just hope I can get to them all some day!
DeleteWhat an amazing bakery, inside and out! It's aesthetically pleasing, and a great place to sit, enjoy a treat, and relax!
