Mariah thought it was a bit serendipitous that when she woke up that morning and checked her Facebook, her memories timeline popped up showing it had been exactly 5 years to the date that she made a post wishing she could visit The Warner Brother's Studio Tour - Making of Harry Potter.
Even though we booked our time slot before arriving, we did still had about a 30 minute wait to get into the actual tour. There were a few spots for photo opps while waiting though, like this iconic cupboard under the stairs set.
The tour starts with entrance to The Great Hall, which is quite impressive and sets the tone for the remainder of the tour.
After a brief informational message from the tour guides, the doors open to the remainder of the building and you are free to roam from there on out on your own.
I thought my girls were giddy going to Universal Studios and seeing the replica sets and props, but their excitement over viewing the real sets was totally worth this trip. They were flitting around from set to set and prop to prop just breathing in all of the magic that blew life into the movies.
You do get to climb aboard the Hogwart's Express and check out the cabin cars, and just like at the real King's Cross Station, there is a spot for photo opps to walk through Platform 9¾.
Midway through the tour, there is a spot to stop for refreshments. You absolutely cannot leave without a mug of Butterbeer. We noticed they were also selling Butterbeer flavored ice cream cones and decided we would grab one of those first, then would grab a mug of the beverage before leaving the tour at the cafe we spotted when we first arrived. Little did we know, this is the ONLY time on the tour you will be able to buy Butterbeer as it must be finished before returning on the tour due to licensing and not being able to carry it out of the attraction. We didn't think we would be allowed back through the tour to buy Butterbeer since we had already finished our tour, but thankfully the attendants were super awesome and called someone to walk us back through to purchase some.
For those who have been to Universal Studios, you'll be disappointed to know that they do not offer frozen Butterbeer here and the liquid isn't as tasty as what you'll find there, but the cream topping is much better than what you find at Universal.
You can take your refreshments back outside to tour the house on Privet Drive, The Knight Bus, Hogwarts Bridge, The Potter's Cottage, as well as hop in the Weasley's muggle mobile and climb aboard Hagrid's motorbike for a few more photo opps.
The final stretch of the tour is where you'll find the grand prize. The humongous replica of Hogwart's Castle.
Does this look like a tour that would interest you if you were traveling to London?
That looks like so much fun! I love to go on tours like this with the kids. They always get so excited. We all do, really.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely a great place to take the kids!
DeleteThat looks so fun. I doubt I'll ever got to London so thanks for sharing the pictures.
ReplyDeleteI hope you enjoyed the photos Mary :)
DeleteLook at you drinking and driving! :))
ReplyDeleteGlad Mariah's wishes came through!
I think I like the photo with Ally in that high Gothic porch best!
I've always liked the outfit that the Bulgarian boy wears in the movies.
Trying to be a bit cheeky, though the steering wheel is located on the other side of the car.
DeleteThe bridge is quite lovely. A little rickety, but lovely all the same.
I always liked his outfit too. It would have been nice if he received more screen time.
I certainly would be interested to visit this place! My husband is a big fan of the Harry Potter book series and I am sure he'd love to be there too. Thanks for sharing your photos.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure with all of your travels, you'll eventually get there Annemarie! When you get tired of Rome, I'm sure it will still be there waiting for you to visit :)
DeleteNow that would be a grand place to visit indeed. Looks like you had a fun time. Nice of them to let you go back and indulge too.
ReplyDeleteI thought for sure they were going to tell us we were out of luck on going back in, so they scored extra bonus points with us for that nicety. My girls would have been really upset to miss out on Butterbeer in London!
DeleteMy family and I did this a couple of years ago, and we loved it. Your pictures are WAY better than mine though!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a great experience, right!?
DeleteMy wife would certainly love that.
ReplyDeleteI don't think you'd ever be able to get Daisy to leave lol
Deleteaaaaaah I would love to visit this very place! ILove all those details Theresa..and as HP fan, I just can't wait to see them myself!
ReplyDeleteWith your itchy feet, I have no doubt you'll get to it some day :)
DeleteWHat an amazing tour. Great shots, really shows what is all there. Props look just as real as in the movie. So cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd there's so much more that wasn't featured here. It's a must-do for any Harry Potter fan!
DeleteOh wow! I didn't even realize there was something like that in London. I've always gone for the history, but that looks so fun, too! :)
ReplyDeleteMy husband's niece is into Harry Potter. This place is on her list of places she'd like to visit.
ReplyDeleteThis is a great place to visit, especially for the Harry Potter fans. If we ever get to London, I'd love to go there.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh this looks like a tour both my kids would get into. What a great experience, for you all. Mica got into Harry Potter. He still has times where he wants to watch the films, or reads a book. Isaak - not as much of a reader, but enjoyed the films.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad that he's not so much into the books. I thought there was so much more depth to the books. But the movies do a fabulous job of storytelling too!
DeleteStop it you are killing me😕 all I want is to visit the studios. As a hugeee harry potter fan I am really disappointed of myself for not visiting this place yet.
ReplyDeleteHopefully you'll get there soon! It really is such a magical place to explore.
DeleteI honestly would not mind going. I think it would be fun to see the set-up and items. Your pictures are fun!
ReplyDeleteI know I wasn't too thrilled that we were focusing our trip around Harry Potter once again, but we definitely enjoyed the experience!
DeleteLooks like you gals had a good time! I'm not a super big fangirl of Harry Potter but do generally enjoy the movies and books. I'd have a lot of fun visiting the props and sets. Looks cool.
ReplyDeleteMy husband isn't a fan of the books or movies, and even he had a great time exploring the sets. I think it's a really enjoyable place for everyone to visit.
DeleteOh man that looks amazing!! We were at Universal Studios in September and got to enjoy the Wizarding World of HP. Would love to see the actual sets!!
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves going to Universal Studios. I will say that our Butterbeer is so much better than what you get in London. Also, the Butterbeer ice cream we got in Florida was a bit better than London's as well. You would think with it being a British book they would have the better foods.
