I think fall is the best season for baking. During the spring, I'd rather work on my garden, it's too hot in the summer to keep the oven on for very long, and by winter, I'm so frazzled with the impending Christmas holiday, baking stresses me out more than it comforts me. But when glorious fall rolls around, I am soooo ready to get my bake on. It's been raining off and on here all week, and I thought it would be lovely to sit by the window with a good book, a hot cup of tea, and a warm slice of apple pie and watch the rain come down. As luck would have it, I had all of the ingredients on hand for this Autumn Apple Cranberry Pie, a recipe from Golden Blossom Honey.

Apple Cranberry Pie

What better way to start fall than with this pie that has all of the season's best flavors wrapped into one sweet dessert? A little tart, a little sweet, a whole lotta yum! You don't have to get all fancy with the crust like I did here. Just follow the recipe and pop another pie crust on top, cut a few slits for ventilation, and boom. All done. This is such a quick and simple recipe, you'll want to make it a few times before the season is up.

  2. This looks absolutely delicious!! The detailing on the dough is so pretty that I wouldn't want to eat it. Like you, I think that Autumn is the best season to bake. Unfortunately, it's seems to be shorter and shorter each year. It's still between 75-80 every day over here. Because of that, I definitely do more baking during the Winter months.

    1. I was just thinking that this time last year, we were preparing for snow. Took my mom to an outdoor Garth brooks concert on October 29, and a freaking blizzard hit. It was miserable! I’ll take the heat and humidity over snow any day of the week lol

  3. This does look great! I just made an apple cobbler. I bought walnut ice cream, for the top. I may make more. A student picked a ton of apples, set them out for other students to take, but no one was taking them. They were starting to get bad spots, so I just took the whole bag. I cut the bad spots out.

I like to bake the most around November - Christmas cookies. I just did fall cookies because Travis had to haul that heavy chair he made back home. The person that was supposed to help had a funeral to go to. His bosses let him use their truck, and an employee to help him. 1/2 the cookies went to his work + he made them pizza, and the other 1/2 the cookies went to my work.

I also love making ice cream cone cookies. I think it's fun to make the different flavors on the icing: Strawberry, Chocolate, Vanilla, and sometimes I even do Lemon.

  6. Sure looks like a winner. With such shots one doesn't even want to eat it and mess it up. Can see why Fall is better, ugg to cooking in the heat.

  12. I only bake in the Winter. The Summer is so hot here that the AC does not keep it cool enough to be able to turn the oven on.

    1. It was so hot when we were in Vegas, I don’t blame you for waiting until winter to get your baking done.

  13. Pinning it. I've not seen a pie that adds cranberry to the apple, but kudos to Golden Blossom Honey for coming up with the recipe. It sounds delish, and I love your crust!
