I can show you the world. Shining, shimmering, splendid.... As one who lives to travel, it's no wonder that Aladdin has been one of my all time favorite movies. I can still feel the excitement I had walking into the theater with my girlfriends to catch the animated classic way back in 1992, and my love for Aladdin has been going strong ever since. On our recent trip to NY, I wasn't leaving without seeing Aladdin on Broadway. Yes, I went to the show wearing my animated shirt, looking 100% like a tourist. But who cares!? I was just as giddy going into the play that day as I was 17 years ago walking into the movie theater.
I don't make any secrets about my love for Aladdin, so when I heard that the animated classic was getting a live adaptation... oh, my heart almost couldn't take it. I loaded up my girls and we hit the theater full force, ready to immerse ourselves magic, love, and music. The soundtrack has been playing in my home nonstop since this summer as we've been eagerly awaiting the release of the live-action film on Blu-ray and DVD. If you're on the same carpet as us, the good news is, the wait is almost over. Disney's Live Action Aladdin will be available to purchase on Blu-ray and DVD, this Tuesday, September 10!
If you missed it in the theaters, now's your chance to get your hands on a copy and find out what you've been missing out on. While it doesn't 100% stick to the original animated version, I loved the changes made for the live-action version and the new song Speechless added to the soundtrack was a welcome addition that my family couldn't get enough of. I think fans of the animated classic as well as new viewers alike are all going to agree that Live-action Aladdin is one of the best films of 2019! I've already got this weekend's movie night all planned out, and it involves genies, flying carpets, magic, mystery and romance.
The live-action adaptation of the animated classic, Aladdin, lands in homes on Digital and Movies Anywhere August 27 and 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray and DVD September 10. Starring Will Smith, Naomi Scott and Mena Massoud, the release includes all new bonus features, such as deleted scenes, a blooper reel and more!
The release of the live-action adventure coincides with the addition of the original animated classic to the highly celebrated Walt Disney Signature Collection, granting Aladdin fans everywhere the opportunity to own both magical movies. In 4K for the first time, the new release features all new bonus content, including alternate endings!

Disney's Live-action Aladdin will be available this Tuesday, September 10 to purchase on Blu-ray and DVD. Don't let the magic pass you by. Be sure to grab your copy, available at most major retailers nationwide.
With Will Smith as an obnoxious, hiphop genie nobody wanted, I think I shall pass, sadly. I also gave a hard pass to Lion King because of that self/obsessed, nasty mouthed Beyonce. Disney always seems to get the casting wrong for everything. I do love your photo, though, glad you managed to see the play! Those bracelets look like fun to make!
ReplyDeleteYou know I had my reservations about Will Smith as Genie as well, but I honestly think you should give it a try Dezzy. You might be surprised to find you actually like it. Plus, Mena Massoud is all kinds of adorable ;)
DeleteAladdin is Travis' favorite. I love live performances, so much! Probably more so than the movie versions. I'd like to see it on Broadway!
ReplyDeleteI love live performances so much too. You're so lucky that you have an affordable Rose Theater near you so you can catch shows often. We only get to a live show here maybe once every year or so. Broadway's Lion King is coming next April though, and I told Jason he HAS to get me tickets, even if it's an anniversary gift.
DeleteSounds great, I remember the film from my childhood☺
ReplyDeleteI love Aladdin, it's my second favorite Disney film behind The Little Mermaid. That aside, I was conflicted with the live action remake. My biggest peeve was the father! He was best the part of the cartoon and they just ruined the character in the real life version. The fig cookies look delicious. We will have to try to make those with the holidays coming up.
ReplyDeletei super love Alladin since from the 90s, though I never get to watch the new Alladin this year, but would love to see a live performance, nice to know they already have Blu Rays and DVDs
ReplyDeleteI loved the new Alladin movie! Will Smith Slayed it! not like Robbin Williams coz no one can do what he did but in his own fresh prince of bel air vibe. cant wait to see this on Blu Ray
ReplyDeleteI completely was unable to see this movie while it was in theaters, but growing up, behind “pocahontas”, Aladdin was definitely my favorite! Plus I can’t resist Will Smith. You made me very excited to plan a day to rent it.
ReplyDeleteI'll be seeing it on bluray
ReplyDeleteI haven't listen to the this DVD not the Disney movie yet. With the morern technique this must be wonderful entertainment.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason, I never got around to seeing Aladdin when it came out a few months ago. I can't wait to watch it on DVD!
ReplyDeleteI've seen the movi and I really enjoyed it. The cast was great. Each played their roles well.
ReplyDeleteI really love this movie I've already watched this! such wonderful movie!
ReplyDeleteThere seems to be a trend of these live action movies adapted from the classic animated films. I like it! Aladdin is a classic and I am going to get a copy of this so I can watch and re-watch it at home. I am eagerly looking forward to the live action Mulan too!
ReplyDeleteA great movie indeed. Not into this whole cash grab remake think disney has going on, but the animated one is still tops.
ReplyDeleteOh, and playing the soundtrack all summer? Drive anyone crazy yet? lol
ReplyDeleteWe saw it in theaters. I was a bit surprised with the singing at first, but quickly got engrossed.
ReplyDeleteI loveeee Aladdin so much we keep watching it as well! The live version sounds cool..I watched the one in NYC :)
ReplyDeleteWe didn't catch it in the cinemas but I didn't realise it'd be out in DVDs already. That's fast!
ReplyDeleteAi @ Sakura Haruka
I've never seen the movie or the live version, although I certainly knew it from the "Arabian Nights" stories. I'll have to look for it on cable. Loved your tee-shirt!
