Pie. I love it! I'll take it over cake any day of the week. With tomorrow being Pie Day and all, I thought that I would share a pie recipe for today's Golden Blossom Honey post. Since I just shared one for Valentine's Day, I figured it was too soon to toss another your way. Instead, I want you all to check out my second favorite kind of pie... Pizza Pie! If you want a super quick and easy pizza to toss together for the day, grab this Caramelized Onion and Red Bell Pepper Pizza for 3.14.

Don't let the lack of sauce fool you. This pizza is packed full of flavor! What intrigued me about this recipe was the use of goat cheese and pine nuts, two things I have never had on my pizza before. I'm usually a mozzarella girl, but I am totally digging the punch the goat cheese adds to the overall flavor and the pine nuts pull it all together with an extra hit of earthy goodness.

  1. My daughter thinks goat cheese is the best thing since sliced strawberries (I can't say bread because it's not her fave ;) ). I love that it has pine nuts.

    1. I have a newfound love of goat cheese, having only recently used it in a pasta dish from a grocery store flyer recipe. Now, I can't get enough, so I totally agree with your daughter. And sliced strawberries are pretty good too, but bread is a little higher on my list.

  2. I'd eat that one gladly without the cheese! What are those braided pastries next to it? I think I'd like those. I haven't eaten pizza in years as I hate vegetarian cheese, but while I used to make it I'd usually put grated carrots and red onions on it when I had nothing else in the fridge. I also used to mix some defrosted spinach with some cream cheese and garlic and an egg and some oats and spread that on pizza crust.

    1. Those are just braided garlic bread sticks. I buy them from the freezer section when I don't feel like making my own garlic bread.

I don't cook with spinach often because Jason doesn't like it, but I do have them put fresh spinach on my pizza when we go to the make your own pizza place down the road for dinner occasionally. I have never tried grated carrots on pizza though. I bet I'd like that!

    2. Carrots are good on pizza when you have nothing else in the pantry LOL Just grate them, boil them for five minutes with garlic, and then season them and put them on pizza with cheese and onions. When we had nothing to eat during bombings and wars, carrots saved our hungry buts :) We also pretended that zuccinni was fruit when we did not have any real fruit. We would boil diced zucchinni for five minutes with some sugar, cool it down and mix in a packet of some instant powdered juice, like pineapple or strawberry and pretend it was really that fruit LOL These days, I use millet as my poverty and apocalypse food, as it can be prepared both savoury and sweet and is filled with vitamins and minerals.

  3. My favorite pizzas are with some fresh mozarella or even ricotta. My brother does make a similar pizza to above because he's allergic to cow's milk. It's tasty but he add a balsamic glaze for an extra punch. It's yummy!

    1. Ooh, balsamic glaze sounds awesome! I try to limit my dairy consumption because it messes with my IBD, but cheese on pizza is an absolute must for me and I'll deal with the consequences of my choice later LOL

  6. I've tried the Boboli crust and it's not bad. I like peppers, onions, black olives and mushrooms on my pizza.

    1. I love all of those things on my pizza too. The girls hate mushrooms on theirs, so I usually have to just put that on half the pizza.
