I'm just going to start this post by saying it's been a rough week. My last remaining aunt on my father's side passed away earlier this week, and while it wasn't a surprise, it is still very hard to accept. So, I apologize for any blog or social media comments, or any emails that haven't been returned. Today is the burial, so I probably won't get back to normal routine until sometime next week. With that said, we'll be having dinner after the funeral, so I wanted to bring a dessert to contribute to the meal. This Chocolate Pear Cake from Golden Blossom Honey is what I decided on since it wasn't too complicated and I already had all of the ingredients on hand.

This is a sweet little cake that's sure to get you in the fall spirit. I know it's still pretty warm in some parts of the country, but fall's official start date is next Tuesday, so why not whip up this yummy cake to celebrate? We've all had a pretty rough year, so I think we deserve to have a little happiness wrapped up in a seasonal dessert to bring a little cheer into our lives, no?

Ingredients

2 pears peeled, cored and thinly sliced
2 tablespoons SILVER BLOSSOM HONEY, for drizzling
2 tablespoons butter
3/4 cup flour
1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 cup GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

  2. Is that the aunty that raised you at some point of your childhood, deary? So sad for your loss. I got a feeling she was very loved in your family, so her legacy will stay with you for generations.

The cake looks gorgeous, you made another photo masterpiece.
We had summer till today and today some very cold and very strong wind started blowing, we expect just 11*C tonight. It was blowing so hard last night I had to vacuum the house from all the leaves and dirt that went inside through the windows and balconies.

  3. I was thinking of you and wondering how she was doing. I am sorry to hear of the loss for your family. Big hugs from here. And your dessert is great, as always. What a good idea to pair pear and chocolate.

  4. The other day my husband tried to rip out my vegetable plants that are still producing to make rooms for moms. I was not pleased. Lol!! I can’t believe that the summer is nearing its end. It went way too quick. I love Fall but am a little sad to see Summer go. That cake looks simple and delicious. We will have to give it a try!

  7. Sure a great way to bring on the fall. Not so great you have to bring it to such an occasion though. Even when you know it is coming, it stinks all around.

  9. I’m so sorry. Covid funerals are so difficult! Many can’t come. Peace be with you!

My niece had jaw surgery yesterday + my uncle is in the hospital with a high fever and internal bleeding. He had cancer, and this keep occurring. He’s been in and out of the hospital, since Thanksgiving.

Per usual your food looks so yummy! I’m craving chocolate right now. It’s about the only food I do crave at times.

Lots of love ❤️ - Alissa

  10. Looks delicious.

Thanks for stopping by a while ago, Theresa. I don't know what happened to your (and Dezzy's) comment. Must've pressed the wrong button.

    Hope you're doing fine.

  11. I'm sorry that you had the loss of a family member, Theresa. This has been a tough year. I've been indulging in too many comfort treats recently, but I think I need to try this too! Take care!
