It's October, witches! And you know what that means. Hallo-freakin-ween season has officially begun. Can I get a whoop! whoop!? So, last year we did an east coast road trip, traveling from New York up to Massachusetts. I said it before, I was not excited about doing New York in the least, but I told Jason that since we were going to be in MA, I was fully expecting a stop in Salem. And since we were going to be in Salem, bet your ass I was going to swing by the Hocus Pocus house.
For any fans of the movie, you simply can't go to Salem and NOT visit Max and Dani's house! It's a part of movie history that is going to live on for generations to come.
This is now a private residence so visitors need to be respectful and stay off the property. I didn't even feel right walking across the street to stand on the sidewalk for a photo opp, so I stayed well over on the other side of the road. There was an older lady lounging on the porch when we pulled up who was wearily eyeing me down the few minutes we were there. Honestly, I don't blame her one bit. I'm sure she gets tired of having strangers stop and photo her house every day. I bet the tourist crowds are even bigger in October than they are in July when I was there.
I didn't stay long, maybe 5 minutes tops, but for me, it was the highlight of our east coast adventures.
There's supposed to be a Hocus Pocus 2 in the works, due to air sometime next spring on Disney+, and I simply cannot wait!
Hocus Pocus movie... love it or leave it? What's your favorite Halloween movie?
Whoop whoop! I wonder what does she keep in that tower on top of the roof? My fave part of Hocus Pocus is when they start singing I Put A Spell On You.... Where did Kathy Najimi disappear?
ReplyDeleteProbably dead bodies LOL. That's such a great song. I have no idea what Kathy Najimi has been up to, but she will be reprising her role in part 2, so that's exciting news!
DeleteI know nothing about the movie, but it’s cool that you found the house and got some pics. Too bad the owner was outside! Lol. The only Halloween themed entertainment I like is It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
ReplyDeleteThat's my mom's favorite too. I always giggle about "I got a rock". Poor Charlie Brown!
DeleteThat is neat that you got to take the shot and see it, but yeah, that has to be annoying for the owner. But then again, I'm sure they could make a bit of dough charging people to get pics up close and personal. Hopefully Hocus Pocus 2 uses the same actors. Otherwise, pfffft.
ReplyDeleteI would totally deck that house out for Halloween and charge a small fee for on property pics. That could be a gold mine!
DeleteI love me some Hocus Pocus!! And I also love a good trip to Salem. I always tell my husband that I’d love to retire up there. :)
ReplyDeleteI loved everything about Salem. All of the history in those old houses and town. I'd love to retire there too!
DeleteThat’s fun! I need to see that movie. One I’ve never seen. - Alissa
ReplyDeleteMake it a family movie night with the boys. I bet Isaak would really love it!
DeleteI have never seen it, but love that you got to go. I also laughed that where you stood for the picture, it blocked out the wary porch dweller, lolol. :) That's a big ol' house for a window a/c. They need some hocus pocus in there to keep the bill down (or maybe not, since it isn't hot year-round). You see where my mind goes these days... let's be frugal folks (my son has no concept of frugal, btw). :)
ReplyDeleteGirl, great minds think alike. I am always thinking of frugal ways to save. Jason, who is ALWAYS hot, asked if it was about time to turn on the heat last week. I was like, you see snow on the ground? LOL
Deletefun place...beautiful
ReplyDeletegreat shots.
Salem! Perfect place to visit during Halloween hehehe. We went here as well Teresa and went to the museum to see the diorama. Interesting indeed..
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm out of it. I haven't seen "Hocus Pocus." I'll keep my eye open for it. I'm glad you had the fun of visiting Salem and the Hocus Pocus House, Theresa!
