I believe there are two types of people in this world- those who think cheese is the greatest thing ever invented and those who are wrong. When someone tells me they don't like cheese, I immediately wonder what kind of crazy person I'm dealing with. People say bacon makes everything better, but I say cheese does. There are so many different varieties, you can pair it with pretty much anything and have a winning combination. That's why my heart went pitter-patter when I found this Four Cheese Ziti recipe on Golden Blossom Honey. I mean, not 1, but 4 different cheeses in one dish? Sign me up!

This is a very simple recipe to toss together, and is one that can be done in under 30 minutes. But don't let the ease fool you. It's rich and creamy and chock full of cheesy flavor goodness. The red pepper flakes give just the right amount of kick to this dish, so if you're wanting to heat things up a bit this Valentine's Day, this is the recipe you're going to want to save for a spicy night in.

Ingredients

1 cup half & half
1 1/2 cups milk
3 teaspoons GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY
3/4 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried red pepper flakes
1 3/4 cups low-fat provolone cheese, shredded
1 3/4 cups low-fat mozzarella cheese, shredded
1 3/4 cups low-fat Swiss cheese, shredded
2 Tablespoons Parmesan cheese, grated
salt and pepper to taste
1 pound ziti, cooked al dente

Sauce:
1/8 (28 ounce) can tomatoes, fresh-cut style
1 Tablespoon GOLDEN BLOSSOM HONEY

What's your favorite kind of cheese?

  1. It’s hard to pick, but I do love sharp cheddar. The only cheese I don’t like is bleu cheese and anything similar due to its vomit flavor. Lol!

    1. Jason loves Blue Cheese (it's a yuck for me too) but the last few times he had it made him sick, so we don't have to have it in this house anymore, thankfully.

  2. I'd probably die if you fed me this: half and half, milk and four types of cheese that is a brutal death to all of us lactose intolerant bastards :) What is ziti and why is it called ziti not macaroni? :)

    1. Because macaroni here are smaller shells. The ziti are just bigger ones and not curved.

  4. Your pictures are so pretty that I almost overlooked the half and half. LOL This is one that I think I'd skip. I do a very simple and traditional sauce when we eat pasta. I love cheese and I have no idea how to pick one that's my favorite. Maybe ricotta salata..

    1. Ricotta, yes! I love it in my manicotti. It's one that you can use for dinner or dessert, it's so versatile.

  5. That looks good. My favorite cheese would be a toss up between Smoked Cheddar and Muenster.

  8. "Four cheese ziti" sounds like it should be a card game! I don't think I've ever had ziti with honey in it before. Sounds interesting!

  9. Yummy!

I love any pasta. I used to eat too much of it.

On it's own I like Swiss cheese. I probably use sharp cheddar the most though.

    1. I also like Swiss on it's on, or on a sandwich, but not often mixed into other dishes like pasta. We also use sharp cheddar the most, and probably Colby Jack or Mozzarella as a close second and third.
