Do you have an awesome father figure in your life? If so, I need to tell you about this incredible opportunity you have to honor your father figure by nominating him or her into the EntenMAN of the Year Father's Day Contest hosted by Entenmann's®. By doing so, you'll give them the opportunity to win amazing prizes, such as a Daytona Race Trip Package, an authentic race-used Entenmann's autographed driver fire suit, and/or a year supply of Entenmann's Donuts! From May 10 to June 21, nominate a father figure who inspires you, whether it be a dad, coach, teacher, or anyone else that has made a fatherly impact on your life.
For me, I'll be nominating my father-in-law, Carl, otherwise known as Pop.
Growing up, I never had a steady father figure in my life. I was never close to my own dad and had 4 different step-dads over the course of my youth. Coming from a broken home was tough, and I admit, when I first started dating my now husband, there were times that I felt super awkward visiting his parental home. I was very guarded and had my walls up, but Carl was patient and kind and gave me time to work through the misconceptions that I had about fathers and men in general. Pop is a committed family man, having celebrated 50 years of marriage to my beautiful mother-in-law just a few years ago, he was a dedicated delivery driver for a large soda company for over 40 years until his retirement, and one of the best and most honorable men I have ever met in my life. With his example on how a man should care and provide for his family, he gave my husband the tools he needed going into his own marriage to create a long and lasting partnership. He's the king of bad dad jokes, the slowest driver in the world, and will tell you a story for hours on end. He's definitely a talker! But he's always there when you need a helping hand, fatherly advice, or just plain good company.
He's an amazing grandfather and took it in good stride when all he got was granddaughters. Though he did nickname Allison as Al since he so wanted his last grandbaby to finally be a boy LOL! (Don't worry, he eventually got 3 great grandsons that are turning his hair greyer faster than the granddaughters ever did!)
He has a sweet tooth that is only beat by my mother-in-law's, never one to turn down my chocolate chip cookies, but boy was he excited when I told him I was partnering with Entenmann's and wanted to feature him in this post. He thinks he's going to be internet famous now, hehehe! So cute! But he was even more excited to bring his wife our leftover Entenmann's Donuts from our photo shoot because he knows that she loves them and he was going to score major hubby points with that move!
For me, Carl was the missing puzzle piece that I needed in my life. He may just be my father-in-law, but to me, he's that dad that I never knew I needed until he came along. He's the true definition of what it means to be an EntenMAN of the Year and I am honored to have him in my life.
If someone has made such an impact on your life, I hope you'll take the time to honor your father figure (male or female) into the EntenMAN of the Year Father's Day Contest. Remember, you have until June 21 to enter to win some pretty sweet prizes!
Also, be sure to check out these fun donut-inspired dad gear creations from Custom Ink. Entenmann's has partnered with them to bring you limited edition apparel that dad is going to love! Order yours in time for Father's Day!
WIN IT!
One lucky Theresa's Mixed Nuts reader is going to win (3) Entenmann's coupons to purchase donuts + a $25 Virtual Visa Gift Card! The giveaway
is open to residents of the U.S., and will run through 6/1/21. The
winner will have 24 hours to respond to winning email
before a
new one is chosen. As some participants aren't on all social media
platforms, I offer multiple ways to enter, but remember, each one is
optional. Enter only the ones you'd like an entry for. Good luck!
Carl is such a superstar! You must save this photos, they will become such lovely memories and you really made them great.
ReplyDeleteFour stepdads? Oh, my, seems moma was busy in her youth LOL Are you in contact with any of them?
Yep, four stepdads. The first one is deceased and I'm not crying over that one, the second one we see occasionally. The third one lives out of state, but I keep tabs on him since I'm Facebook friends with his daughter. He was my favorite. And the last one I heard isn't doing too well. Mom is actually still married to him but they haven't lived together for over 10 years. They figure at this point the first one to outlive the other should just be able to collect the social security from the other, so they have not plans to divorce. It's a mutually agreed upon benefit of the separation LOL.
DeleteHope it does not turn into a murder mystery LOL You must set some security around moma.
DeleteWe're not worried about it. It was an amicable separation. They still text each other a Happy Anniversary every year, even if they refuse to meet in person ever.
DeleteWhat an amazing post! I’m so glad Pop came into your life and is there for all of you. How awesome that he has 3 great grands, too. I enjoyed learning more about your family. And any post with donuts is the bomb!
ReplyDeleteThank you! He truly is a special man ♥
DeleteI love this post.. It sounds like you lucked out with Jason and his family. The picture of you and your FIL holding the donuts over your eyes is my favorite. That belongs hung up in a picture frame!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Jax! I will for sure frame that one soon :)
DeleteI would nominate my brother. He is a great father to my niece and nephew. He ensures his kids are happy and healthy.
ReplyDeleteSounds like a very deserving guy!
DeleteFor some reason, my comments are not always going through? I know I commented on both the pasta post and the pound cake recipe. Maybe it’s a blogger issue.
ReplyDeleteSo sorry, it's not blogger, it's me. I have comment moderation on but have been really stupid slow to get them approved. I usually do it from my email, but even that's getting backed up. I just need to sit down for a day and go through all of my digital crap that's clogging up and catch up on it all.
DeleteOh okay, glad to hear you’re getting my comments. No worries!
DeleteI would nominate my husband who is a great father.
ReplyDeleteI hear you on the stepdads. My mother was known as the Liz Taylor of the family. There were a string of husbands, boyfriends, and live-ins. Not an awesome time for me.
So, I shouldn't laugh, but I am definitely going to steal that Liz Taylor line for my mom now LOL. I hear you on it not being awesome, but I suppose it set the trajectory of our adult lives on the kind of husbands we wanted for ourselves. What my mom chose, I looked for the complete opposite. I'm happy to hear you also have an amazing husband in your life ♥
DeleteSuch an inspiring post. Hope you guys have a great Father's day!
ReplyDeleteI don't have someone as a father figure to myself to nominate but my brother is a good father to his kids

ReplyDeleteI will be nominating my brother. He is one of those all around good guys that help wherever he can.
ReplyDeleteSo cute
ReplyDeleteI would like to nominate my father. He supports the family in so many ways and can always make everyone laugh. I know I can talk to him about anything
ReplyDeleteI will be nominating as an EntenMAN of the Year my best guy friend he sure is a wonderful man and friend.
ReplyDeleteheather
I don't speak to my dad anymore.
ReplyDeleteBut if I were to nominate a good dad it would be my grandson's father. He and my daughter haven't been together for a few years but they still go out to eat with my grandson, they talk and send each other funny meme's. And they are there for each other and their son. They have the best co-parenting relationship I've ever seen and he's a good dad.
Amo las donas y gracias por la recomendación. Te mando un beso
ReplyDeleteWow, the prizes are impressive !.
ReplyDeleteI give support so that your father-in-law Carl can win one of the prizes.
My husband was a wonderful father. I think he deserves to win. He's the greatest. Bum so proud of him and seeing as we're short of money right now it would really help us out
ReplyDeleteI would love to nominate my brother because he is an incredible dad to my nieces and nephew. Both of my parents are remarried and I was not close to my real dad. I also am not super close to my stepdad.....
ReplyDeleteI will be nominating my brother, he’s an amazing father and he is just the sweetest guy ever. He’s always offering to help me and my mom out with anything we need.
ReplyDeleteI would nominate my uncle who has always been there for me. He has been a big influence in my life.
ReplyDeleteI love the photos you got with him!
ReplyDeleteMy dad I’m really close to. Actually I’m closer to him than my mom. I’m just more like him. He calls me to talk more than my mom does 😂 I’d nominate him.
The girls just text a lot. It’s kind of annoying. Both of my sisters do not work, of course my mom doesn’t, but I do. They’ll text like they are talking to one person in the group. Sometimes my sister goes on and on about her kids. I’m just like - leave me alone! I’m working. I want to tell my sister to get a blog, and write it all in there. Ha

I would nominate my dad, he's got 96 years in contention.
ReplyDeleteThat is great that he is such a good father in law, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Especially after you went through so many step dads on your side.
ReplyDeleteI would nominate my sister-in-law because she is a wonderful woman who needs a little something extra to happen in her life and she just loves Entenmann's they are her favorite.
ReplyDeleteI would nominate My ex daughter in law as she has worked the entire pandemic performing surgeries and risking herself and her daughter.
ReplyDeleteWhen I show this post to my kids, they scream for the donuts LOL. I would definitely nominate my Hubby for being the father my kids love and a loving husband as well
ReplyDeleteI will be entering my boyfriend. He is a home caregiver and a great guy!
